It’s good to see Holmes getting the love that he deserved his whole career.
Holmes was a great champion. Every champ has fought lesser fighters. They can’t fight a great fighter every time out. Lucian Rodriguez went the distance with a great champion. Not many fighters can say that. I was in the crowd that day. My friends and I were the ones chanting “Laaary! Laaary! Laaary!”

Even though I liked Larry Holmes as a champion, he greatly disappointed me because he did not fight the best in his day, like Page, Dokes, and Coetzee. He should have unified the Heavyweight title by becoming undisputed.
I always thought Larry was the fastest heavyweight puncher of all time. The thing about the great boxers is that their always more entertaining to watch then their opponents. And Larry was definitely entertaining to watch. And he always came across to me as a real nice guy. I’m glad he looks great today and happy.

Larry's jab when he was in his prime, I don't think he was in his prime in this fight, but it may have been one of if not the fastest jab of all time in the heavy wieght division.,that's just my opinion,but if you think there was fighter that had a faster jab let us know, I'd like to see it.

Larry Holmes fought some really bad fighters in his reign, damn.
He was a great champion...but he did have a run there of beating an absurd amount of tomato cans...Lucien Rodriguez, Scott Frank, Alfredo Evanglista...these guys were so weak
@@smitchix1 a tomato can wouldn't have heard the final round like Lucien did.. 12 rounds of a beating without budging, you need to be a special man to achieve that...
@@frenchgoldenboyfan Are you kidding me. Lucien Rodriguez was absolutely a tomato can. 39-12-1 career record. He went 12 rounds and was a human punching round for Holmes, he did not win a single round on any of the judges cards. He got a pity 10-10 round from one judge and the final cards were 120-108, 120-108, 120-109. The AP card was an even more humiliating 120-107. I have no idea how he even got a title shot. He doesn't even have any entry on Wikipedia for God's sake, he was that forgettable of a heavyweight.

@@smitchix1 If you stay active and fight often, you're gonna have that. The real question is, who did Holmes AVOID fighting? No one. Dokes was zapped before they were set to fight. Coetzee was zapped before they were set to fight. That's it. He beat Weaver, Witherspoon, Cooney, Berbick, Shavers, Leon Spinks, and Bonecrusher Smith. The idea that it is his fault that the era wasn't glorious...that's silly.

Rodriguez is no conceivable threat to Larry Holmes. You guys are exacerbating the situation. Historically, most Mexican boxers are big talk, once they enter the ring, their big mouth becomes deflated; as their ego gets sabatoged.

Rodriguez was not mexican, he was born in Morocco, emigrated to France.
I'd beat Rodriguez myself
