    Today, I wanted to go over one of my favorite games that I have witnessed in my life. Normally, I would talk about a legendary match like the 2009 AFC Championship Game against Baltimore or Super Bowl XLIII, but the Mud Bowl against Miami holds a special place in my heart.
    Come with me on a journey to this incredible game. Not for the quality of play, but for the elements that made it truly great. It's still legendary to me, damnit.

    With the exception of the Cardinals/Giants 20-20 tie in 1983, this might be the ugliest game in the history of Monday Night Football. It was glorious.
    For those wondering what happened in that 20-20 tie, a brief rundown:
    - Giants QB Jeff Rutledge had a passer rating of 39.2. Cardinals QB Neil Lomax had a passer rating of 30.4. Both of those ratings are worse than if you did nothing but spike the ball into the ground on every single play (39.6)
    - The teams combined for six turnovers and 20 penalties
    - Cardinals kicker Neil O'Donoghue missed 3 field goals in overtime alone, including a 20-yarder
    - Giants coach Bill Parcells said afterwards: "if somebody had to win that game, we might still be playing out there"

    • @kevinjones1942
      @kevinjones1942 3 года назад +19

      My pick for ugliest Monday Night game was the Giants vs Vikings. Vikings sent out their newest qb who the signed just about 10 days prior. Josh Freeman. He went out there and stunk it up. Essentially putting the nails in the coffin of what was his career. Threw 20/53 for 190 and a pick. Has got to be one of the worst qb performances I have ever seen absolutely zero chemistry with his receivers. Poor guy.
