Not just the fact that they scored over 600 points, but the fact that they had five players with ten touchdowns or more, and the fact that the team got a top seed despite having a defense that wasn’t even top 20, and got fewer turnovers than a lot of defenses gave great offenses to work with.

2019 also missed the Bosa hold on the 44 yard pass to Tyreek Hill. That play shifted the momentum. If Bosa wasn't held or if that was called back, it would have been a MUCH different ball game.
That wasn’t a hold. Multiple NFL analysts have done analyses over it and confirmed it wasn’t. Which is probably why he didn’t mention it. Also even if it was, the refs missed an obvious roughing the passer on Mahomes the play before.
Yeah you can asterisk every game with this. If a team comes back or a penalty gets called that’s, an asterisk! If a team doesn’t come back or a penalty doesn’t get called, that’s an asterisk!
My team appeared twice and our asterisks were both minor and only existed for the sake of the video. And I got to see a reason to take something away from every single Brady ring. I loved watching this one.
Agreed. Even though I don't necessarily agree with everything he said, his delivery is top-notch. It just sucks that revisiting it now, he has edited a lot of things out, including the last three Super Bowls, which seemed to have been accidentally cut out according to Barry.
There's actually an argument to be made that deflategate was bullshit. The psi of the balls were initially recorded indoors of the stadium a few hours before the game and then were tested at halftime indoors. Why does this matter? the temperature outside during that game was significantly colder than indoors, meaning the air inside the balls had time to cool, therefore decreasing the psi prior to being tested while still not having time to warm during the halftime. Also, as a Seahawk fan, i would have loved and felt it was the instinctual choice to just feed Marshawn the ball, but at the same time based on personnel and clock situation, it made some rational sense to throw the ball. The receiver half-assed his route and Malcolm Butler made the play of his career, simple as that. It was devastating, but i can forgive it. Luckily, the falcons blowing that huge lead they had a few years took the title as most embarrassing superbowl loss, which was nice of them.
Deflate gate was found to be complete BS. The NFL's claims didn't hold up under closer examination. The only reason Brady's suspension was upheld in court was due to the CBA giving the NFL disciplinary authority.
@@jaredmountin7523 Tell me, how many footballs were under inflated? I'll give you a hint, far fewer than were initially claimed underinflated in media reports.
For the 2012 Ravens, I'm surprised you didn't mention the no-PI call on Jimmy Smith that could have given SF another shot at taking the lead late in the game (although Crabtree was also grabbing and it would have offset). Also the Ravens don't make the playoffs if Ray Rice doesn't convert a 4th and 29 against the Chargers. *On a checkdown.*
In 04, the pats definitely knew the eagles defensive calls. There was no way for them to predict the new plays the instituted. Also Owens was playing on a broken ankle
Brady fanboy logic: Any SB that was not won by Brady has an asterisk, every SB won by Brady (just by Brady not his teams) is 100% completely legit and if you disagree you are a hater and I am upset that you don't love my hero as much as I do.
Exactly. During Week one, I said that day played better than Brady and a couple of patriots fans blocked me and they kept being insecure. Since they wasted my time, I am now looking to troll them
@@purplehurricane1294 Well Dak did outplay Brady. If you watched the game, looked at the overall numbers and the fact that Dak was facing the better defense of the 2 teams, Dak performed better. Telling that truth is "hate" to them though. I dislike the Cowboys and have no reason to praise Dak but I can tell the truth. I have gotten to the point where I just troll them also because they don't want an actual discussion they just want to praise their crush at any cost.
And considering Brady is 3-5 against Brees all time I like those chances for the Saints. Especially after one of those Brady wins came in the final seconds in 2013 (with a missed holding call on Galette after he was put into a chokehold on the play). Then in 2020 last year against a broken Brees and MT, with Harris going out early after killing them on punt returns and no Taysom or Latavius Murray. Then the infamous Cook fumble that changed momentum of the game.
For the ‘07 Giants: On the Tyree-Helmet catch the refs probably missed a holding call on the New York OL. Also, the refs could’ve blown the play dead since Eli’s forward progress was (almost) stopped for a second.
Watching this video reminded me how the Falcons blew two interceptions that could have had them winning a Super Bowl and playing in a NFC title game, respectively.
I'm a full believer in team momentum. Whether better play calling finished the game, or less pure luck happened for the Patriots in the 4th Quarter, I was fully convinced that the Falcons were about to start their best run ever. They would win that SB and then at least get back the next year, but that one devastating loss shook everything up. People forget that they were one or two plays from being right back in the NFC Championship in 2017, but there was that fluke bounce off of Keanu Neal, and we suddenly forgot how to score in the red zone.
@@davidmatheny1993 happened to my Seahawks too. Everything went wrong after the Super bowl loss. It makes me extremely sad now thinking about how everyone from the Super Bowl team is gone now.

Braves still made the playoffs routinely afterwards, but the pieces just didn't line up again.
the magic BDN captured in that playoff run was something i doubt we will ever see again. A backup QB replacing the league’s (probable) MVP right before the playoffs and playing even better than him, was truly catching lightning in a bottle. Philly Philly!
The asterisk on GB should probably have been making the playoffs at all. I’ve never looked into it, but it seems if the Giants beat the Eagles, tiebreakers would not have been in the Packers’ favor. If not, the Buccaneers (who finished 10-6) lost to the Lions in OT the same day.

Funny how after 9/11, the Patriots became the team the NFL loves the most. They wear red, white, and blue. Their logo is very patriotic looking. The league absolutely loves them.
If the Seahawks ran the ball every patriots player would of been tackling Lynch behind the line, the real issue was Russel Wilson started down his receiver all but announcing the corner that he was going to throw to that receiver.
I still believe Carroll was told to make sure Lynch wasn't the MVP of the super bowl. Hence why he chose the throw over run and Russ tried to force it.
@@kellen5545 If you look at the stats it’s much simpler than that. On that whole season he had 5 runs in the same situation and only scored on 1 of them, the Patriots had previously stuffed him in the red zone once already. Infact on his career he was actually not that good in the goal line situation, only converting on 42% of his attempts in his career up to that point, pedestrian at best. Considering that even fans sitting in the stands thought he was getting the ball, you don’t think Bill Belichick and the pats defense didn’t expect that move. So you mix that with his statistics in that situation not being all that people make them out to be, you can see why they didn’t want to just feed the ball to Marshawn Lynch, taking away your best players is what Belichick and his coaches do. And we shouldn’t take away from Butler just making a good read and going and taking that ball away, even if Russel Wilson kinda telegraphed it.
I have trouble believing the ones that are just "show me when this has ever happened" because the high stakes of the postseason changes decision making for most teams. Bizarre shit happens every year, especially in the playoffs. These events just make for an extraordinary championship game.
As someone who’s about to get a bachelors in engineering with a minor in physics, whenever someone brings up deflate gate as solid evidence against Brady and the patriots, I laugh at them. High school physics is enough to tell you that temperature effects pressure. ESPECIALLY WHEN ITS A DIFFERENCE OF 2 FUCKING PSI!!!
The thing that always seemed crazy to me about the 2001 Patriots win was the fact that we had just recently suffered 9/11 and a team named the Patriots won a SuperBowl at a time when patriotism was so important to the country
these mostly don't sound like asterisks, more like, things that happen in football...even the PED suspensions should have set the teams back but it didn't lol
50:00 thing about the AFC Championship tuck rule is that it actually was called accurately w/o question which is why they changed the rule. I never fully understood the controversy of that game bc the rule almost word for word categorizes the hit from Woodson and subsequent fumble from Brady as being an incompletion. I’m not sure why that rule was ever seen as a good idea, but at that time it was really a super easy call to make.
It wasn't an illegal formation. At every level of football the referee (line judge) and the WR have the option to communicate pre-play to determine when the WR is on the line of scrimmage and when they are not. If they are not, the refree will tell the player to either move up or back depending on the formation. Alshon checked with the ref by pointing to him, the ref gave the go ahead that he was within adequate threshold for being in formation properly. Once the refree gave the go ahead Alshon couldn't be flagged for an illegal formation, because the referee had declared him in formation.

If intentional it’s an odd choice. But the rest is so well edited so I’m confused
I remember watching this video shortly after he uploaded it and it was completely fine. It seems like he heavily edited it down recently
Edit: after going through the most recent comments some more, Barry did comment saying that after editing a few things out (that explains the weird jump cuts in a few spots, as well as a few missing things I picked up on), the last few minutes which were SB 53 to 55 disappeared for him. He also said that he wouldn't re-upload it.

Not just the fact that they scored over 600 points, but the fact that they had five players with ten touchdowns or more, and the fact that the team got a top seed despite having a defense that wasn’t even top 20, and got fewer turnovers than a lot of defenses gave great offenses to work with.

That wasn’t a hold. Multiple NFL analysts have done analyses over it and confirmed it wasn’t. Which is probably why he didn’t mention it. Also even if it was, the refs missed an obvious roughing the passer on Mahomes the play before.

Underated comedy gold. Busted a gut at this
This guy talks at the perfect speed. I don't even like football that much but this video is incredibly engaging, as an editor my hat is off.
Once you’re a cheater no slack will ever be cut for you and that’s that truth about the Patriots

The rahim Moore flop was significantly worst just because it wasn’t PI by smith
2012 was rigged and we still won lmao
Eh, the pass was uncatchable on 4th down, so pass interference couldn’t have been called.
4th & 29 was luck.
So the asterisk is the fact that the team was simply good?
Imagine blaming Jimmy Smith PI on you losing when your team was literally getting dissected on live television.

In 04, the pats definitely knew the eagles defensive calls. There was no way for them to predict the new plays the instituted. Also Owens was playing on a broken ankle
Brady fanboy logic:

I know the obvious Dee Ford was there for 2018
But also the biggest blown call in NFL history kept Brady from seeing Brees in the Super Bowl

The tuck rule was an actual rule so it was ruled correctly, although the rule is stupid and no longer part of the rulebook today

I’m not sure why that rule was ever seen as a good idea, but at that time it was really a super easy call to make.

Here’s an asterisk for the eagles: It was an illiagal formation on the philly special
No it wasn't wtf lmao
@@matthewdaley746 i agree with you
It wasn't an illegal formation.
