I’ve been wanting to paint my front door for the last 5 years, but was too afraid I’d ruin my door. After watching this video along with others, I finally just did it today! I’m so glad I did, I’m so happy with how it came out. Thanks for the motivation!
@onlyprofitofficial1 The details of all the products I used are in the description box under the video. The paint was Dulux Weathershield Multi-Surface paint in Warm Graphite. ☺️
Fantastic calm and thoughtful approach to renovation. No shouty people! Thank you. Great video. I'm going to do my door this week, weather permitting, for the coming Easter weekend...... and add an Easter wreath💞
I absolutely love your Honesty Practical approach Simplicity Advice The fact you've made me want to paint my own UPVC front door which has been painted in a horrible dark blue - and very badly, but I just didn't know how and where to start. Your letterbox and handle makeover is, frankly, genius. Everything you did is accessible and not purse-breaking. I will send you my own door makeover when I have finished the rest of the inside of my home which I only moved into 3 months ago and needs a complete overhaul. I'll probably do the front door in spring....2024
I have just watched your upvc door makeover! I totally thought your door was wooden! I hate our front door too! You have so inspired me to do this to our horrid discoloured upvc door and save on the expense of buying a brand new one 🚪!! Ali xx
Same here! I've lived in my house for 3 years now & before that it was rented out for about 20 years & my front door is a really old, white UPVC one. I HATE it & always have done, I know exactly what new front door I want but am still needing loads of work doing inside the house so it's just silly getting a gorgeous new front door for it to get scratched/marked by builders going in/out. So yeah am going to paint it cos there's nothing to lose by doing so. Thanks for the info!
Next time add a few teardrops of baby shampoo or washing up liquid to the water and use a spray bottle spray the glass and back of the film, spray the top of film as well to prevent friction them use a vinyl squeegee (£3 eBay) to get the bubbles out.
Wow thank you I had to change my door which I did and like you I couldn't stand it. It's identical to yours. So to change it I was quoted over a grand. This is a much better option. I loved th film on glass idea.
Thank you so much, I've just bought my first home, and I was shocked at the cost of a new front door, but now I can simply change the locks and paint the door it self! Saving much needed money. Thank you!
Your door looked fantastic! i didnt even know we could paint over that sort of plastic so that i know i can i decided to do the same! thanks for the idea!
I bought a new house and don’t like my cherry 🍒 red front door . Im looking at a grey colour in this paint brand . Rather than buy a new door 🚪 im going to now try this like u have on here . Thanks for this video, it’s absolutely brilliant

@@LivinganOrganisedLife Thanks.. Great job, in exactly the same position, poor looking door, but too far out of what I can afford right now to replace. Think I'll be doing the same until I can replace 👍
Hi Mary, I love the DC Fix but it does reduce the light coming through. I’ve got used to it now and prefer the privacy. I think there are some window films that are more sheer but I wanted the Victorian style pattern. I’ve got some left so I’m planning the do the downstairs loo window next ☺️
It’s lasted brilliantly. The only area where it’s scratched off is on the handle. I spray painted it black and it’s worn off a bit at the end showing white. The rest of the door is still perfect. Good luck with your project ☺️
Looks fantastic!! We have a very similar white door. I'm about to paint our garage door in a dark grey (similar to everyone else's). How do you take off the handle? Ours is same as yours. No screws on the outside? Is it easy to put back on? Do you have to buy special paint for pvc doors? Not sure what colour to spray the door handle and letter box if we are going for a dark grey paint job on the door (ideas much welcomed 😊) thank you!!!
Hi Matt, the handle on my door had screws on the back. It was simple to unscrew them and take the handle off. It was easy to screw back on using the same screws. I used Dulux weathershield paint but I have since used Frenchic Al Fresco paint in Smudge which I love. I’m planning to paint our garage door with it. I spray painted the handle and letterbox black but I think traditional brass would have looked good too. Good luck with your project - you’ll love it!! 😊
@@LivinganOrganisedLife fabulous. Do you have any images of your new painted door with the new paint on it? Looks great that paint youve advised on. Did you spray the paint the door or painted with a brush ? And Sorry for the questions did you use an art brush to paint the door or just a standard paint brush ? I just want to try and avoid brush marks if I can
I don’t think I’ve posted a photo of it yet, I’ll pop a photo on my community tab. I used a regular angled brush and a sash brush for painting. I don’t think the brush marks are visible but I often use a small gloss roller for furniture painting which would be perfect for this project and a sash brush works well for the fiddly bits!

I was wondering how you managed to change your white front door furnishings to black please 😮? I'm trying to change my gold metal front door furnishings to white (on a red upvc I've restored its original colour ❤), but after rubbing down, primer spray twice, then added spray 1st coat, darn letter box (and numbers) blistered. It looked so good in the primer, but I didn't want to leave the furnishings in a dull matt look finish 😢. Can you help at all?
I gave them a light sand and didn’t bother to prime them. I needed to touch up the handle the other day and I used car spray paint. It looks fab. Perhaps try that or a spray paint specifically for metal?
@LivinganOrganisedLife Thank you very much for mentioning the above. However because I've already primed them, and sprayed them with all purpose spray paint, it's the latter that didn't work successfully and started cracking on certain front door furnishings 😞. Not sure what to do now? Maybe start all over again 😞?
@@LivinganOrganisedLife Haha, go for it! I've bought it, I forgot ive got 2 doors on the front so hopefully can do both. Its on clearance at the minute so I don't want it to discontinue incase I run out 🙈
Just a word of warning to folks using window sticky vinyl on double glazing. I used it on my porch, I covered the two floor to ceiling windows. After some months they both developed huge cracks, first one window then the other. We were baffled as to what had caused the damage, even thinking it might be malicious, but only the inside of the double panes had cracked. I had a glazier come out to replace them at the cost of £300 each. He peeled the window cling off with disdain and said 'you've not used this stuff have you?' (Obviously I had) He said the window cling causes a build up of heat/cold inside the double glazing and that's what had caused the damage.
So sorry to hear this. We have had our large (8ft x4ft with three panels) double glazed window covered with this privacy film for at least 8 years and nothing like this has happened to it. I wonder why it should have happened to your window and not ours?
Yes absolutely. I have white window frames and I am tidying them up with white upvc paint. I didn’t want to commit to painting them all grey in case I change my mind!

After your last coat, was there any brush marks at all?
