Hi mate just the video guide I was looking for. I am looking at doing the inside of some windows. My question is would you recommend removing any previous sealant first, paint the window frames and sills and reseal. I know a lot of paints do not like to adhere to some sealants. Does the Frenchic paint go onto sealant OK if I just need to paint over it ?
Jason Doogue, thanks for watching mate 👍👍 the Frenchic paint is superb I think you will be ok to go over the silicone I've used it on leather and worked out a treat no cracks or peeling the paint is great and my experience with the paint has been every time it delivers, the paint is quite thick so if you're doing it, put it on thinly build up the layers , I'm so pleased my vid was some help to you in some way, I'd say definitely just go for it mate , I'm so pleased I done mine you won't be disappointed in doing yours to , feel free to check out the link in the description from a journalist from the sun who picked up on how people are saving thousands of pounds painting there doors and windows my door features in the article plus another chap painting windows, thanks for your feedback and hope yours turns out really good 👍👍👍.

I’ve painted mine with satin finish. On pvc door. And you can see a few roller marks on it with the light on it. Do you know what I’m doing wrong? Thanks :)
Thanks for stopping by the vid mate👍👍 your probably not doing to much wrong did you rub down in between coats that's quite important also satin exterior paint might be a little thick I would of dilute it down a tiny bit , I would probably use a gloss roller to some of them fine rollers arnt fine enough but also you might be abit hard on yourself mate at least you give it ago, but if you're not happy with it then give it a proper rub down and go again, I would just repeat that process until you are happy with it, thanks for your comment nice one 👍👍👈.
Hi Stacey 👍sounds like it went a little bit wrong but it can be sorted I'd say give the door a proper sanding down and start again use a roller next time and let the paint dry in-between coats The good thing is you have got paint on the door take out the runs and streaks and go again it probably looks worse then it is but don't worry it can be fixed let me know how you get on I'm sure it will turn out better next time thanks for stopping by the vid nice one 👍👍👊.

@@creativecrambo yeah the door we looked at was going to be about £1200 so will save a small fortune! I will drop a message but I think you covered it all in your video 👌👌
Thanks for stopping by the vid Rita 👌 yeah first process is to give the door a proper clean down first then you can give it a fine sanding down then you should be good to go with the paint let the paint dry then give it another light sanding down then go again with the paint hope it turns out nice for you and thanks once again for stopping by the vid appreciate it alot nice one 👊👍👍.

Michaela Baxter: Thanks for watching 👍 And yeah the door does look class I was well pleased with the results, thanks very much for that comment 👍 The spray paint for the handle was from the Rust - olEum range, enamel chrome silver, but any high quality decorative metallic spray paint will do the job all depending on your handle you might have to give it a primer before you spray or theres multi purpose sprays out there all depends on what your looking for 👍.

I used Zinsser all coat but was lazy with the prep. I didn't key the door before or after the 1st coat and now it looks a bit crap, very textured/streaky. But looks "ok" from a distance. Fortunately it's my back door so I can always sand it back and go again. Great video, thanks for sharing. This is a real growing trend at the moment as all the newbuilds pop up with their dark window theme.
Thanks for stopping by the vid mate nice one 👌👊 yeah all is not lost like you said you can give it a good sanding down and go again, I did 3 coats on my door 👌👍 yeah your right about people wanting to DIY there own doors its really cheap to the cost of a new one, the most important part is the preparation mate I'll spend more time doing that then the painting itself, Just give ya door a good sanding down and go again mate I'm sure it will look just fine then, Thanks for your comment appreciate it alot nice one mate 👊👌👌👍👍

did you find the paint adhered better to the outside than inside of the door, i would also expect the paint to last longer on the outside as the sun would have taken off a lot of the paint repelling plastic gloss of uPVC and allow better bonding ?
Hop clang: Thanks for watching 👍 That's a good question, I didn't find any difference when painting the inside and outside, there must be some truth on what you've asked , but all I did was prep up both sides the same and the paint seemed to go on just the same, thanks for the feedback though 👍👍.
Jay hazlam : Thanks for watching 👍 the paint is really durable when its properly cured it just dont peel off that easy , As for kids with long fingernails I haven't put that one to the test mate 👍.
Thanks Stephen 👍appreciate that mate definitely go for it mate you can use a roller and paint brush to do your door I did mine with a brush and it turned out fantastic but if your thinking about brush strokes left on the door a preferred method is use a roller ,but you can also spray it , the only problem when you spray it you need the right paint to go through the spaying unit eg gun , that's why I painted mine and the Frenchic alfresco paint works a treat ,if I didn't buy the extras on the door the whole thing would of only cost me £20, happy days 👍👍.
Thank you very much kellissa nice one 👍👍 Yeah definitely go for it the results are superb just use my step by step guide you carnt go wrong if you need some help on the way just drop me a message in the comments, good luck if you do it plus save yourself a good few quid, thanks for stopping by the vid to 👌👌👍👍👍.

Reason being, I live on a busy main road - don't really have the luxury of being able to safely leave it open all night!
Hannah thank you very much for your comment 👍👍 and kind words, the paint drying time is about 2 to 3 hours all I can say is definitely don't close your door for about that time stay with it but the paint dose dry quick all depends on weather to ,do it on a nice dry day that would be perfect 👌👌 , but definitely worth giving it a go save yourself loads of money, just pick your time and moment then go for it, Good luck and let me know how you get on I'm here to help 👍👍.

That's unusual Joe , chipped in what way did you prep the door properly clean down sand down 🤔 sorry to here that all the time I've used it it's been just fine maybe you had a bad batch or something 👊
You can pick up new panel for 170 all you do is take the bead off push the panel out and put the new one in and push the beads back on so easy and you will get a guarantee on the panel, if you want to save money eBay has plenty coloured ones going cheap. No fucking around prepping the door time painting it paying out for ,paint, cleaners, brush, spray for knockers and handle's and worrying if the paint will chip or not last.
Thanks for your input Darren and thanks for watching the vid👍but all it cost me to get a perfect finish on the door was £15 And the paint job is still as good as when I did it a year ago I spent next to nothing to transform the door, yeah sounds like a good choice if you want to go down that route your saying but for me mate that's not for me, probably restricted colours to choose from to I like the colour I did and the paint is superb, happy new year mate 👍👍
You don’t need to sand / just get a bucket of hot water and dish soap the door clean and buy a can of self primer and 2 cans of the finished colour / and take out the windows / it took me a day and it looked great and 6 years down the road it’s still faultless

@@creativecrambo hi,i was just wondering what exactly it was that was leather, that you painted?seems this paint will pretty much bond to anything by what you're saying?you seem to have given lots of us the confidence to try this ourselves, thanks! 😁
@@missg3188 thank you for watching 👍👍 the leather thing I painted was a leather ottoman and definitely worth checking that vid out , yeah the paint is great and can be used on alot of surfaces inside and out , 💯 give it a go miss G you won't be disappointed the paint comes in loads of colours to , thanks for stopping by the vid I really appreciate it alot and good luck with your project 👍👍.
I painted my door with universal paint and it’s went so streaky and the paint has ran!! Any tips on how to fix it 😩
Hi Stacey 👍sounds like it went a little bit wrong but it can be sorted I'd say give the door a proper sanding down and start again use a roller next time and let the paint dry in-between coats
The good thing is you have got paint on the door take out the runs and streaks and go again it probably looks worse then it is but don't worry it can be fixed let me know how you get on I'm sure it will turn out better next time thanks for stopping by the vid nice one 👍👍👊.

Thanks for watching and thank you very much, must admit I'm well pleased with how it turned out 👌👌.
Did you put tape around the door handle.i am so clumsy that I would get paint on the handle lol
Thanks for stopping by this vid to fiona nice one 👍 👍yeah I'd definitely say tape up the handle if your a bit of a novice plus it don't take long to do so why not lol good luck painting your door hope it turns out great 👍👍👌👊

Should we clean the door first with sugar soap then sand it or the other way around?
Thanks for stopping by the vid Rita 👌 yeah first process is to give the door a proper clean down first then you can give it a fine sanding down then you should be good to go with the paint let the paint dry then give it another light sanding down then go again with the paint hope it turns out nice for you and thanks once again for stopping by the vid appreciate it alot nice one 👊👍👍.
Hi, please can you say what paint you used for the silver handles, thanks
Thanks for stopping by the vid Janet yeah I sprayed the handle with rust-oleum in the colour metallic chrome silver I got it on Amazon hope this helps, 👍👍👌.
What did you use to spray your door handle with please. Door looks class also.
Michaela Baxter:
Thanks for watching 👍
And yeah the door does look class I was well pleased with the results, thanks very much for that comment 👍
The spray paint for the handle was from the Rust - olEum range, enamel chrome silver, but any high quality decorative metallic spray paint will do the job all depending on your handle you might have to give it a primer before you spray or theres multi purpose sprays out there all depends on what your looking for 👍.
Did you have any issues with shrinkage around the black rubber seal?
Thanks for stopping by the vid Ash nice one👍 there was no issues with shrinkage mate I haven't checked for awhile, now you have mentioned it I'll have a look but don't think so mate, the door still looks great 2 years on thanks for your feedback

Hi cksire Dower 👍 thanks for stopping by the vid nice one and thanks for the comment 👍👍 yeah I was well pleased with how it turned out the paint is great ,and the spray paint for the handles I got from Amazon, metallic silver and I think the make was called rust-oleum hope this helps 👍👍 be safe and good luck 👍👍.

Looks really good
Philip krelle:
Thanks mate yeah I'm well pleased with it and still looks amazing , thank you very much for the comment nice one 👍👍.
Thanks for stopping by the vid mate nice one 👌👊 yeah all is not lost like you said you can give it a good sanding down and go again, I did 3 coats on my door 👌👍 yeah your right about people wanting to DIY there own doors its really cheap to the cost of a new one, the most important part is the preparation mate I'll spend more time doing that then the painting itself,
Just give ya door a good sanding down and go again mate I'm sure it will look just fine then,
Thanks for your comment appreciate it alot nice one mate 👊👌👌👍👍
Thanks for the video!!
How is the paint holding up 1 month on?

Have you got an update on how the doors holding up after a few months of being out in the elements?
Jack w :
I will definitely do an update vid on how the door is looking thanks for that question, so after about 5 months the door is still looking superb the paint hasn't faded in anyway saved myself hundreds of pounds and well pleased how it turned out I'll definitely do a vid to prove it 👍👍.
Had the paint tarnished or chipped with use since the video?
Hi 👊
The door still looks brand new even after all this time
Thanks for stopping by the vid 👍👍👊
did you find the paint adhered better to the outside than inside of the door, i would also expect the paint to last longer on the outside as the sun would have taken off a lot of the paint repelling plastic gloss of uPVC and allow better bonding ?
Hop clang:
Thanks for watching 👍
That's a good question, I didn't find any difference when painting the inside and outside, there must be some truth on what you've asked , but all I did was prep up both sides the same and the paint seemed to go on just the same, thanks for the feedback though 👍👍.
Hi
What about kids with long nails does that peel the paint off or not?
Jay hazlam :
Thanks for watching 👍 the paint is really durable when its properly cured it just dont peel off that easy ,
As for kids with long fingernails I haven't put that one to the test mate 👍.
Door looks great going to do this myself . Do you think would be better using a paint sprayer or is a brush fine ? Thanks
Looks fantastic…dare I do mine 🙈
Thank you very much kellissa nice one 👍👍

Thanks for watching 👍 one pot of paint will definitely do 3 coats of paint on both sides with abit left over the size of the pot was 750ml 👌👍.
Thanks for the video! I will be giving this a go. What spray paint did you use for the door handle?
Bevan Kirkpatrick:
Thanks for watching much appreciated 👍👍 the spray paint I used for the door handle was a CRAFT ENAMEL premium rage acrylic spray paint , in the colour metallic chrome silver, I bought it from Amazon, hope this helps and yeah definitely go for it the results are amazing

What an amazing transformation! Looking to do the same but can’t seem to find the spray paint. Do you have the link for? Thanks

Sorry dont have the link but any high quality decorative
Metallic spray paint to treat surfaces like wood metal aluminium glass stone and various plastics will do just fine , the multi purpose spray paint would work to,
Just dont buy any cheap stuff 👍👍.

Do u need a special paint brush for painting the door?
Thanks for taking the time to watch the vid sole searcher 👍👍 I'd definitely recommend if your painting your door yourself to invest in a good paint brush the cheap ones just dont get you the nice perfect finish , it hasn't got to be special but of good quality one definitely, a preferred method is to use a roller plus brush something like a velour roller would be perfect and a good brand name for the brush, it makes a difference to the end result mate ,a decent brush will last you years to 👍👍.

How did you do it and not get brush strokes?
Perry Hartley:
Thanks for watching much appreciated 👍, the secret is to apply the paint on thinly this will eliminate any brush strokes, the paint is quite thick so needs to be applied in thin coats , it lays down really flat on the surface there for giving you a great finished look, hope this was helpful

The Dalz:
Thanks for watching 👍
The gasket around the pvc door was really thin so I did just paint over it , the paint is really good and don't crack or peel, just let it dry properly before closing your door 👍👍.
@@creativecrambo whats a door gasket?😆
@@missg3188 hi 👍a door gasket is a rubber type material that is fixed to the frame of the door, it closes the gap up around the door also creating a seal, it stops the draught/ weather plus cuts out the sound from the outside every external door frame will have one, thanks for stopping by the vid 👍👍.

Looks great! I would really like to do my door, just wondering though - how long do you think it should be left to dry before being able to close the door without totally ruining it? Reason being, I live on a busy main road - don't really have the luxury of being able to safely leave it open all night!
Hannah thank you very much for your comment 👍👍 and kind words, the paint drying time is about 2 to 3 hours all I can say is definitely don't close your door for about that time stay with it but the paint dose dry quick all depends on weather to ,do it on a nice dry day that would be perfect 👌👌 , but definitely worth giving it a go save yourself loads of money, just pick your time and moment then go for it,

@@missg3188 Hello! Thank you for the tip, I was planning to give that a go but the glass has a texture so didn’t think I’d do very well getting out the air bubbles. Decided to use a special paint in the end and it turned out pretty good!👌🏻
My frenchic paint chipped after a few days 😢
Thanks for your input Darren and thanks for watching the vid👍but all it cost me to get a perfect finish on the door was £15
And the paint job is still as good as when I did it a year ago I spent next to nothing to transform the door, yeah sounds like a good choice if you want to go down that route your saying but for me mate that's not for me, probably restricted colours to choose from to I like the colour I did and the paint is superb, happy new year mate 👍👍
I feel sick now
Not really sure what that means 🤔 you might need to explain what you are saying.
Your painting that door in the wrong order.
The door turned out perfect using the procedure I did, the final result speaks for itself sorry but got to disagree with that comment.
You don’t need to sand / just get a bucket of hot water and dish soap the door clean and buy a can of self primer and 2 cans of the finished colour / and take out the windows / it took me a day and it looked great and 6 years down the road it’s still faultless
