I'm 41 years old and never knew this! Thanks for the tip
No problem, glad you liked the video!
Stumbled across this vid and wow! 3 years of wasted energy because I had no Idea this setting. Thanks for the advice. You have gained a subscriber!
Awesome! Thank you!
Same new subscriber he too.
I’m 57yrs old and I didn’t know this, why aren’t we ever told this when the doors/windows are fitted.?
Great video and thanks, oh I have just found your channel and I have subscribed 👍👍👍👍🙏🏻🇬🇧
That's brilliant. Thanks for subscribing 👍
I've read so many "I'm a heating expert and here are my tips on how you can save hundreds of your heating bill" articles in the press and NONE of them have ever mentioned this tip. Excellent work, Fix It!! 👍👍👍
Hi, thanks for your comment! 👍
This is the sort of stuff they should be teaching in school instead of the shite that passes for education nowadays. Imagine most of us have lived our lives not knowing this (me included).
Hi, yes, i agree a bit of practical knowledge! Thanks for your comment, and please consider subscribing to help my channel grow!
Schools are not interested in teaching practical skills they are just concerned how many they can get into university to raise the profile of school
Yeah we can just compete on the international stage by adjusting uPVC windows across the globe
Amen brother
Ah yes, reading and writing, what a waste of time that is...no wait that's very important, what a dumb comment! What you should say is that the installer should pass this information on, that's just common sense, nothing to do with the state of education.
Unbelievable. I've got a draught around my lock on the front door and I thought it would need a professional to sort it or a new door and was about to check my local trade guys when this clip literally popped up. Absolutely brilliant stuff, and done in a way that even I can grasp it and feel comfortable trying it !
Defo gonna have a look at your slab laying vid too. Subscribed and a big thank you !
That's brilliant, and thanks for subscribing!
This video just changed my life forever 😊
That's good to hear!
Always wondered what those were for now I know. Dude you are the Jedi master of uPVC doors.
Now that is a good comment! 🤩
Best thing ever was trying to get the door to seal with the winter breeze fixed my door perfectly no drafts thank you very much for sharing how to do
No problem, im glad the video has helped you and hopefully save some money on heating!
I never knew they can be adjusted on the handle side. I’ve been trying to sort my front door for years. 👍🏻
No problem, it's surprising how many people don't know that it can be adjusted! Thanks for your comment 👍
Thank you for this video! Saved me paying a professional for a 2 minute job!
I'm glad the video was helpful and saved you money at the same time!
Thanks for the great tip! The gap between my kitchen doors wasn't huge, but still big enough for my wife to get back in 👍🏽
Ha, brilliant 🤣🤣. Hopefully you can close the gap and keep her out!
Easiest draught proofing I've ever done great tip many thanks
No problem, im glad it helped! Please consider subscribing for more great videos 👍
Thanks very much for this indepth explanation. I knew how to adjust my draughty conservatory door horizontally and vertically but not how to pull it tighter to the seal. Following your instructions has sorted it out perfectly 👌
That's really good to hear, thanks for your comment!
Holy crap this info was so useful. I have a uPVC stable door and always wondered by the top half rattled. I had the top half set for summer and bottom half for winter. Thank you! 👍
Great to hear! I'm glad the video helped fix your door. Don't forget to subscribe for more great videos 👍
Summer and winter setting WTF, 30yrs in the fenestration industry including fabrication and not once I have heard that lol, the adjustment allows for compensation as the gasket compresses over the years.
Fenestration lol very posh window maker!
Ta .. I always wondered what those doobreys were for. I thought they were part of the locking mechanisms. 😆
They are indeed part of the locking mechanism, but they are also adjustable to alter the pressure on the seals!
Me too! 😂
@RetroSteveUK not doobreys, kahoogiemaflips, something entirely different😮…
I already knew to adjust those for a tighter fit . But thanks to you I now know there's 3 different settings . The main problem I've always had is the seal above the door isn't so flush with the frame .
Glad to help, don't forget to look at my other videos!
This is a very old 😎method ,I'm glad more people can use it now 👍💪🛠️
Hi, thanks for your comment 👍
Stumbled across this video, could not believe it. Never had a clue, thank you!!!

Brilliant, I was on another channel and most of the comments including some from fitters said it was fake, well it's just worked a treat, subbed
That's brilliant, thanks for Subscribing to my channel! 😁
Funnily enough figured this out the other day looking at the door and wondering if it was adjustable I saw some little cams and hex nuts. Different to yours but similar idea. Turned them and lo and behold, tight seal. Despite being quite handy I'd not known this. As regards the post below, school taught us to be inquistive and methodical so I guess that helped me figure it out, but then I did become an engineer.
That's good you managed to sort it out. Thanks for your comment!
So happy I found this video, hope it is solved my problems and save energy
I hope so too, thanks for your comment!
Great tip !!
Had a draught at the top of the door for ages now it’s cured thanks 🙏🏻
Hi, that's good to hear the video has helped you out!
learn something new each day. Also, the information about it fitting tight is very useful, particularly in summer.
Thanks for your comment, and im glad the video was helpful!
Well I’ll be blowed, changed the rubber seals last summer but never fully successful, still a bit of a draught at the top, now got a job at the week end, bet this cures it, thanks for sharing and subbed 😃👍
That's brilliant. Thanks for subscribing!
So glad your video came up in my suggestions. One minute with an Allen key and the draught from the front door is finally gone. Thank you and a deffo thumbs up and subscribe from me 👍
That's brilliant. Thanks for your sub!
Salute you Sir, never noticed they were cams, adjusted all the windows and I’m sure it’s a quieter now so therefore must have eliminated some draughts. Many Thanks subscribed!

Consider it done 👍
@peterwalker6020 Thanks, i appreciate it 🙏
I had a similar scenario with my back door, where you could feel the cold around the whole door..
I looked at the rubber seal & in places it had disintegrated, so I completely resealed both the door & the frame, but even after I did that it was better but not perfect..
Checked my door after seeing your video all four adjusters are set to summer & have been for the last 27 years ..
Hopefully that’ll change tomorrow.. would be nice to have a warmer utility room lol 👍
@@dougiebrown9318 hopefully that will fix it!
Thank you for the explanation and demonstration - easy when you know how. Cheers!
No problem, I'm glad the video helped
Also need a video tutorial to adjust the door hinges on a PVC door 👍
Yes definitely! Leave it with me
As the title said windows, I was hoping you’d cover an opening light’s adjustment.
Cheers.👍
Well, it's exactly the same principle with the cams. It doesn't matter if it's windows or doors
Mate... 47 and this just blew my mind. Cheers. 👍
No problem, it doesn't work on all windows and doors as it is dependent on the mechanism. Thanks for your comment 👍
Well oil beef hooked! (Irish accent)
I never knew you could do that!
Brilliant comment 👏
Thanks Fowler, I didn’t know about those summer/winter adjustment cams. Thanks for sharing!

legend cheers mate my adjustments were on the actual door frame
Brilliant, I'm glad the video helped you 😀
If the door or window has dropped then you must reglaze it properly using toe and heel method before attempting this. When adjusting them try one cam at a time because you'll find the handle will be tougher to throw up (don't pull up the handle from above, always use the ball of your hand to push up from below, much easier, especially with arthritis) and if the handle doesn't travel all the way you'll struggle to turn the key in the barrel, so go gently and imagine the cams as a clock, 12. 3. 6. 9. Hr setting and going in-between these hours is absolutely fine. Also spray the lock barrel and moving parts on the door lock and window hinges with WD-40, using the supplied straw is best, couple times a year as they can go dry and seize up. JUST REMEMBER WHEN ADJUSTING DOORS AND IT SEALS BETTER, YOU MUST TRY LOCKING WITH THE KEY! IF KEY NOT TURNING AND THE LOCK BARREL IS DEFINITELY CENTRAL AND RETAINING SCREW TIGHTENED THEN REVERSE SLOWLY YOUR ACTIONS ON ONE CAM AT A TIME UNTIL YOU HIT THE SWEETSPOT OF THAT KEY TURNING SMOOTHLY AGAIN TO LOCK.
Thanks for your detailed comment 👍
thanks for the technical advice
No problem, look at my other videos for more geat tips and advice!
Thanks mate, Just moved in here bloody Drafty and door handle are a bit floppy. I was told al[l double glazing plus doors were fitted about 15-20 years ago

Great easy video, thanks pal! I think door is bowed to much to fix like this though. I adjusted and pulled in the mounting bracket on the door frame as well and the gap is still there 😢
Thanks for your comment. It's a shame the soor is too bowed to fix it. You could try using foam draught excluder tape to see if that helps? amzn.to/3OsCBXh

Well, well, well, I never knew this. My front door has always been draft free at the top but drafty at the bottom, I can now see that those adjuster things are actually set differently! Nothing worse than a drafty bottom 🤭
You definitely don't want a drafty bottom 😀
