- In this week's video, I share how I painted my UPVC door and tiled my front step. It's a great way to makeover your front door or porch area on a budget. I painted the outside of my UPVC door this beautiful green colour called "Keystone" by Colourtrend paint and then tiled our step with these gorgeous patterned tiles from B&Q. It was a fairly inexpensive project too.

Take pics step by step as you start disassembling for a new project. That way you can refer back. Also, when starting something like painting etc... I refer back to Catherine. .. ask myself what would she do? Make lemonade out of lemons. 😊💛

I'm impressed with the multi-function portable circular saw, I've gotta say - anythinh that can cut tile and doesn't require a 5 ft x 5 ft space is 👌in my book! I love the bee knocker so much & that it's up so high!! It's always fun to see the Insta stuff come to youtube and we get to see how it was all done 💖😁🙌

Getting lots of ideas. I like how your reused the same colour for the door and the unit inside. It draws the eye inside immediately.
The tile looks lovely. A suggestion though, get some white silicone caulk that is meant for outdoors and run it along the edges. It will tidy them up, you will love it.

I love the way you redid the front door and step. It looks so quaint! When you find a wreath you like try a Command hook to hold it. That’s what I used on my front door that has glass and it worked great.

Another gorgeous DIY. Love the bee knocker. If your tiles prove to be slippery, you can get a clear non-slip coating and paint over them with a brush or it comes in a spray.
Ah this looks wonderful hun - you're just amazing. Just watching this with my cuppa and smiling at you using your niece 'n' nephew as "test pilots" on your tiles "g'won.. see if you can slip on that" (sorry only joking, its just my sense of humour ;) ). Besides with a dish of a postie bringing you parcels, its a good way to get a conversation going; he slips on the tiles, you open the door, he falls into your arms and "Oh hello" :D Have a fab week hun and looking forward to your next video x

I have recently moved into a lovely little ground floor flat but it’s previous owners were elderly & hadn’t decorated for years so every room needs a complete overhaul & update plus the front door is a nasty very badly painted tan/light brown colour with very worn out gold handles & letter box, which I really wanted to replace but after doing some research I found out that new ones are very expensive (they aren’t the “regular” size) so now I shall have a go at spraying them!

My front door is awful. Faces south & gets so much sun, it's faded. I have brass door handle & kick plate which, now thanks to you, I'm going to just paint over it with gold spray paint. Also, I have a dragonfly door knocker, so I LOVE THAT YOU GOT A BUMBLEBEE. 🙂 I am painting my door red. Just bought mums & pansies for my pots. Great minds think alike.

So beautiful! What a wonderful job. The color of the door and the handles go together so nicely. A quick tip -- if you ever want to strip off paint from a door handle or hinges, or metal of any kind, I use an old cockpot. Put the item in the crockpot for several hours and remove and gently scrape off the paint. It will come off so easily, with no chemicals required. A wreath or a basket on the outside wall just over your plants would look very sweet. The bee knocker looks cute! A nice finishing touch! A DIY door canopy from old wood pallets would look so cute, with antique corbels!!

Such a good idea on the tile choice. I hope your mailman doesn't faint when he sees your entryway transformation. I like your addition of plants. For Halloween and Christmas I put a curtain tension rod on my doorframe (where a screen door would be) and put ornaments or a banner on the rod. They brighten the doorway.

It's amazing what a bit of paint, some tiles and a little effort can do, and not cost a fortune. It's gorgeous! I love that green, and the gold door handle and letter box finish it off and make it look so rich. The bumblebee knocker is so cute. I've never seen anything like that. So different and really finishes the door off beautifully. Doing a small project like that can really give someone confidence to try other things. You do make things look easy, so shows how good you've become at DIY. Love that little saw tool. It seemed to make easy work out of cutting those tiles. I hope that mail man appreciates the effort ;) x

Catherine, I've been a subscriber for a while but this is my first comment all the way from little NZ. Listening to you always puts a smile on my face, I think you're awesome with all your projects. I listen in my study and when my husband hears your lovely accent he shouts "is Dainty on" and comes and joins me. You could add a clear primer to the tile and then sprinkle builders sand on top, which will prevent any slippage. Love that you took on the door and tiles, my sweet f. granddaughter. hugs.

You are so good at D.I.Y . I suppose you have got good at it because you live on your own and there is none else going to do it . Enjoy your weekend .
I spray painted my deadbolt that was separate from the original knob that just had a skeleton key. At the time bright or antique brass was all that was available when I bought the house 36 years ago, but the original hardware was oil rubbed bronze. I tried to replace the deadbolt only when oil rubbed bronze became available, but the hole drilled thru the door wasn’t the right size so I just painted what I had. That was two years ago and I haven’t had any problems with it, so hopefully yours will hold up well too. I didn’t even bother priming or adding a lacquer overcoat.

I just love the way you take on new things. I just tiled my backsplash in my kitchen and I really enjoyed it, I did find it very therapeutic but I had my tile setter doing a bathroom so she was close by to answer any questions which helped a lot. I also notice you use headphones a lot while working, I used to as well but the cord kept catching on so many things and ripping them out of my ears, might I suggest ear buds. I ordered a very inexpensive pair on Amazon and they work great. I paid $30 Canadian which about €20. I highly suggest you look into it, it will make life so much easier.
