Yes but with how far one bottle of Rub-Out will go it will actually work out cheaper than magic sponges in the end. I also find the sponges deteriorate too quickly.
Thanks for the video. This method of cleaning is actually quite a good one. But for anyone doing it like this I'd recommend making sure not to press too hard with the scouring pad and use plenty of dish washing soap which cleans and lubricates as you clean. It's a good idea too to rinse off the soapy water because dish washing soap contains lots of salt. Salt attacks the surface of the plastic making it oxidise and making it go dull very quickly. There are several types of UPVC mix used for windows and doors and some are more affected than others. The early doors and windows oxidise more easily. Later ones are more resistant to this effect. You will all have seen the dull effect on especially white upvc. When you rub it with a damp cloth white colouring actually comes off onto your cloth. That is the oxidisation. I haven't used the Rubout product but it will no doubt be good at restoring the gloss finish. A nice video producing good results. Thanks.

Good job....... isn't it just another abrasive product like Jiff ....so long as it's all ringed off and polished any chemicals residue won't harm rubbers ect....how do you think houses near the seaside go on?
If you can ID the type of paint google it and it will have best remover in the data sheet. Otherwise start with a thinners or white spirit and then once you're close - use t-cut but finish with unger rubout as this will restore the sheen.
Was that AutoGlym he used?. Anyone know how you get paint off of pvc?. There's a splatering of red paint on the bottom sill of my patio doors that has been there before I moved here. No idea how long its been there probably at least 8 years or so. A power jet wash wont remove.it.
No, it's Unger Rub OUT. For removing paint, knowing the type of paint and choosing the right remover for it is the key, however use sparingly, and repeat many times instead of trying to do all at once. Some paint removers will burn UPVC.
Careful application of a flexible steel paint scraper does the job. Give the leading edge of it a good rub with 220 sandpaper first and soften the corners too so they're less likely to dig in. Works for me.
Hi darren is it known as rubout window cleaner thats all i can see on amazon or is there another place to get it from Keep the videos comein really enjoy watchin them for hints and help
Absolutely, but as this was a quick demonstration only and 90% of the marks were on the base of the door it was simpler - on a proper cleaning we always start at the top as of course muck flows downhill.
Would it get the rust marks off mine with cutting metal and grinding? I don't think so. But more to the point! Why is there a pipe going all the way along your gravel????
No Gary it will not remove the marks caused by sparking from a grinder or welder as these are not actually surface marks they are damage. What did you expect from molten metal sparks meet plastic? Lastly if you think the point is the pipes under the door I suggest a doctor for advice on the A.D.D.
I've just moved into a house where the upvc doors have drips of dry paint on them from previous occupants. I am unsure how to remove them with damaging the door finish, any ideas anyone?
You could try 'shaving' them off. using a razor blade only at a very shallow angle and gently scraping. If it's dried on white plastic doors though for some period of time I dont hold much hope.
All you need is a cheap bottle of Jiff and a sponge without a scouring side to it damp the sponge, then put a little bit of Jiff on the sponge and watch the dirt come off leaving a shiney clean plastic surface behind.Been using this method for years.
I have the proper upvc cleaner it smellls very strong but its a liquid though you can get high of it its that strong cant remember WHAT the name of it is
This is a 'Proper' UPVc cleaner Mazi - this is just a cream base instead of a (Solvent) liquid base like you talk about. The liquid ones (they have many names) are good for dirt and grime but not scuffs and surface scratches.
Where I live in the UK I only Wish I could £45 just to clean a door .the going rate where I live Is £10 - 30 per house . And will generally spent a hour On a first time clean. If only I lived in a richer area.
Might be a daft question, but can you use that product on your window frames or would it be a different product. Just started watching your videos and I love them 😁
I am assuming they are white PVC? First I would use a strong solution of UBIX 2000 (From the cleaning warehouse in Willenhall) mix about 1 part Ubix to 3 parts water. This will do the majority of the heavy lifting. Use with a green scourer. Then if you still have any marks left go to the Unger Rubout - again from The Cleaning Warehouse. Honestly, if that doesn't do it (and it will) you'll need new windows. To-date however I haven't found any that I haven't been able to clean. WARNING -- I DID LEARN on my last Nicotine clean up job that that shit is NASTY -- (I am also ex smoker 12 years retired) Even though I wore a face mask and marrigold golves the solution that ran over the gloves and onto my skin left me quite sick for about 3 days. PLEASE BE CAREFUL!
I don't like the thought he'd be ripping off the elderly or disabled people who can't do such tasks themselves. Mind you, they may not be able to afford £45...

No way I’d pay for this job to be done..
I’ve tried my best to clean my door up and having two boys I’d admitted defeat and thought I were stuff with a scruffy back door .
I’d tried all my cleaning bits and the big scuff marks remained behind.. I’m excited to get this stuff and give it a try
No way you have to pay if you can and will do yourself. You sound like a young mum on a budget so no doubt the pennies count. However many people prefer to simply pay someone else to do it whilst they watch Emmerdale. 👍
My back door had lost of scruffy skid marks all over it.
I tried very hard but I couldn't get rid of them.
I couldn't wait to try a decent product like yours.
Now it's so clean it squeaks! ooh err missus.
Cif cream does the exact same thing.. Save your pennies!
All depends upon the quality of the UPVC in the first place.
Can this stuff be used on grey coloured windows? They're grey on the facia but white beneath that and on the inside.
I do not get what you mean. Are they a manufactures grey finish or have they simply faded to grey? A small test patch out of the way is easiest.
@@Darren-Green Lol no mate they were purchased as grey windows. But not grey throughout, simply grey on facia. From inside the house, window frames are the usual white.
Good job....... isn't it just another abrasive product like Jiff ....so long as it's all ringed off and polished any chemicals residue won't harm rubbers ect....how do you think houses near the seaside go on?
Kind of but no at the same time. Not as harsh as Cif and leaves a lasting gloss finish umlike most other cleaners.
Hi Darren do you no longer use ubik 2000?
Yes bit they are two different products for two different things
Some halfwit tagged one of my upvc windows, how can I remove it without damaging it further? Please help
White spirit then Jiff then T cut
If you can ID the type of paint google it and it will have best remover in the data sheet. Otherwise start with a thinners or white spirit and then once you're close - use t-cut but finish with unger rubout as this will restore the sheen.
rub out seems a bit like t cut?
Was that AutoGlym he used?. Anyone know how you get paint off of pvc?. There's a splatering of red paint on the bottom sill of my patio doors that has been there before I moved here. No idea how long its been there probably at least 8 years or so. A power jet wash wont remove.it.
@@gailhornagold7470 Cheers for that.
@@Mike-hu8yzThanks for the advice, will give that a try.
Would you ever use ubik 2000 to wet the spondge instead of water then use unger rub out ?
No reason you can't. You would still need water however to rinse off the residue afterwards.
@@Darren-Green i was just wonderin if it would / could make it cleaner as both are great cleanin stuff
Hi darren is it known as rubout window cleaner thats all i can see on amazon or is there another place to get it from
Keep the videos comein really enjoy watchin them for hints and help
Unger Rub Out. Get it off ebay (The Cleaning Warehouse Wolverhampton) have a shop on ebay.
@@Darren-Green thank you
Where do you get the polish from? And also what is it's full name? Thanks looks great.
Ebay - Unger Rub Out.
Cif and a sponge works great
Did you mentioned your using the abrasive side of the sponge
Yes you can, just gentle pressure ni need for brute force. All those that claim it scratches are mere armchair experts.
Wouldnt it be best to start at the top?
Absolutely, but as this was a quick demonstration only and 90% of the marks were on the base of the door it was simpler - on a proper cleaning we always start at the top as of course muck flows downhill.
Would it work for the same door but it’s pale yellow instead of white because of it not been cleaned
Try a small test corner first mate.
I want to know if that blac trim can be replaced, mine seems to be falling off in places can anyone help please
I am quite sure it could Ann but the best people to ask would be a window installation company.
White T-Cut colour magic
Not a bad choice but on UPVc it does leave a dull finish.
Got yellow guttering stains on pvc window ledge used vinegar didn't work any help appreciated
Citric acid
Can u use mineral spirit to clean the door at the end? Or not a good idea?
Never tried. Small test patch first.
My boys boot the hell out of my back door...nice video thanks
Thanks for sharing 👍👍
I've just moved into a house where the upvc doors have drips of dry paint on them from previous occupants. I am unsure how to remove them with damaging the door finish, any ideas anyone?
You could try 'shaving' them off. using a razor blade only at a very shallow angle and gently scraping. If it's dried on white plastic doors though for some period of time I dont hold much hope.
You've told them on this video what you need. No more need to decant lol
Thank you🙏🏽
You are so welcome
What’s best to get fence paint overspray of upvc thanks
Read the can of fence paint and see the recommended removal agent -- use that first then lots of water quick to neutralize then just a good scrub.
Did you find a solution that got the fence spray out of the upvc? I have a similar issue
Why is your door frame not siliconed in either???
The silicone quit long before I moved in to the property mate!
Hi Darren I've got some customers window frames with yellowy brown stains, would the Unger rub out get rid of these ?
Tim Hancock I would think so.
T cut is the trick.
can Nilglass doa similar job to rub out? see both listed as glass cleaner
no idea, never tried it.
Can't seem to find this in the UK now?
The Cleaning Warehouse in Wolverhampton is where I always get mine.
@@Darren-Green Thanks, they don't list it on their website but I've got some ordered from Ebay.
Door will be scratched get the gif out folks a pound not a fortune dont be fooled
A nice wee add on there Darren!!
Hi will this work on black pvc
Use T cut
No idea never tried
All you need is a cheap bottle of Jiff and a sponge without a scouring side to it damp the sponge, then put a little bit of Jiff on the sponge and watch the dirt come off leaving a shiney clean plastic surface behind.Been using this method for years.
You obviously haven't used it once as Jif or CIF as now known leaves a dull finish that goes powdery in a few days.
Why would you do the bottom first. When you get to the top. All the shite will run to the bottom and put you back to square one. 🤔
I wouldnt on a job John, however for a quick demo there is more of the marks and scuffs at the bottom but yes you are totally correct.
May as well use T-Cut but why are you using a green scouring pad.
T Cut won't last 2 minutes on upvc.
Yup. T cut works for me. Heavy dirt will go with Jiff.
So isn't the rub out just cif kitchen clean the one in the light green bottle
No, in a word.
Hi Derby the place of my birth. And I have these doors 🇮🇪🙋♀️👍
As do almost all of us in the Midlands Eileen. Love Derbyshire!
Doesn't it streak when you wipe the frame?
The door at the start of the vid looked like my door as new lol.
Is rub out not just cream cleaner ?
No it's not as harsh and doesn't leave the same residue levels if you don't wash it all down properly.
Maybe bronze woop pad would be a little safer, just incase of tiny scratches?
*wool
Perhaps, but to date, regardless of all the armchair experts out there, I've never seen a scratch in a silly from a green scrubber
to me i would finish off with upvc solvent cleaner then wd 40 on a cloth
?
What product was it?
UNGER RUB OUT
I have the proper upvc cleaner it smellls very strong but its a liquid though you can get high of it its that strong cant remember WHAT the name of it is
This is a 'Proper' UPVc cleaner Mazi - this is just a cream base instead of a (Solvent) liquid base like you talk about. The liquid ones (they have many names) are good for dirt and grime but not scuffs and surface scratches.
Where I live in the UK I only
Wish I could £45 just to clean a door .the going rate where I live
Is £10 - 30 per house .
And will generally spent a hour
On a first time clean. If only I lived in a richer area.
Thats not the 'going rate' that is what you have decided is what you are willing to accept for a job.
Might be a daft question, but can you use that product on your window frames or would it be a different product. Just started watching your videos and I love them 😁
Yes mate, always use it on frames and sills
Please me how to get rid of decades old nicotine from pvc doors
£45 an hour to clean a door! I don't know whether to be appalled or to admire the audacity of charging that much!
traveling, booking the job in, ordering and maintaining tools and work clothes etc
£45?? I'm in the wrong job 🤣
I don't like the thought he'd be ripping off the elderly or disabled people who can't do such tasks themselves. Mind you, they may not be able to afford £45...
@@Puppypaws04 i'd charge £65 if it were me. imagine the job being a 2 hour round trip and 1 hour to do the work.
To be fair, it isnt an hour is it surely? 5 minutes will do.
i searched for this video.
Glad to hear it Teban
