    Good video, but there's something about this unit that doesn't really set it apart for me. It seems pretty basic, apart from the nice saturation, but using an opto compressor on the master bus unit seems an odd choice. I'm not really sure who this is for.

    Great demonstration. Do you think optical comp. is O.K. on a fast paced music (for little glue) like EDM, it has blend knob so I think it's just fine. The release is only 100ms but what I've heard here is the bomb. It's fast enough for just a little spice :))

      And yeah, I watched your video on the SB MKII hardware vs software, and agree the tone is very close, but there was the usual depth and dimension difference, that remains between the two, and I want that 5-10% difference on my stereo mix bus.

      Which of the product design trade offs do you think were misapplied with this product? The margins? The cost of component sourcing? Too many features? The cost of assembly and manufacturing? Or are you just saying you can’t afford it and you’re frustrated about that? Honest question.

    I`ve said this on other reviews but I cannot help but feel this box is a bit of a gimmick for RND. They are clearly going after the Fusion which is fine but with no sidechain input, RND clearly missed the mark.
    The Silk Module is definitely great but the EQ, Compressor, and Width Modules are very limited. Again, it feels gimmicky.
    Its unfortunate because their MBP is a work of art and if they were looking to compliment that, they should have given us a 4 band parametric EQ with high and low pass filters.
    If they really want to go after the home/project studio market, offer the Super Silk and this EQ (plus a mid EQ) Module for $1499. Put THAT in a one rack space and watch how fast people eat it up.

    • @ernestbuckley8671
      @ernestbuckley8671 Год назад

      The MBP has alot more features in the compressor. The SFE on the MBP is also extraordinary. The MBT cannot hold a candle to it. The MBP also has a limiter which often gets overlooked. I`m disappointed in this unit. As an owner of the MBP, the MBT is too redundant. I`m hoping RND gives us the "MBEQ"... a 4 band parametric EQ with high and low pass filters with the same color scheme, indented knobs, and in a 2 rack space. That would be much more complimentary to the MBP. This unit feels a bit toy-ish, like the Fusion. Jack of all trades, master of none...

      @@ernestbuckley8671 Thanks Ernest! I also own the MBP and I was trying to see if the MBT would add value and I agree with you I don't see the valued added for me at that cost. I was thinking maybe I could use it on the drum or vocal bus, but other wise then that I don't see any added value. Now don't get me wrong I am not saying there isn't any not just for me.

And I agree with you, in my case I don't see any advantage especially at $4k. I was thinking as a drum/vocal bus processor it would be nice, but again at $4k I can't justify the cost for me. I am not saying it doesn't have it's place, I think its a great box, maybe down the road when I can think of a use case I may pick it up. I am also waiting to see how others may use it with in a chain with the MBP.

    • @Truth565
      @Truth565 Год назад +1

      I think because the source content song is already well mixed and has some colour to it, the examples with the MBT have to be subtle. But it definitely added some polish and openness to the mix, but it’s not night and day.

    This is not better than the SSL Fussion...I think the Fussion is a Better Choice
    Just shot this out against
    My own Master
    Using all SSL Nebula Plugins with my own analog gear
    vs that same mix...ran through the MBT on Access Analog...I beat it....sorry
    for $4000 thats unacceptable.......
    the SSL Fusion or the Silver Bullet is a Better Idea...as far as a final unit to run everything through....I would do everthing in the box..and add a Silver bullet to your analog outboard gear and call it a day.......

      @@TeeDubz the high pass filter is the best sounding filter I have in my studio. Use it to high pass my vocals sometimes. Idk what it is but I love it. The eq is hard to make sound bad. Musical. Sweet. The comp is colored but nice. I use it generously. Wish it had an attack and more ratios though. The width is the star of the show imo. Super nice. The silk is ok. A little goes a long way in my opinion. It gets out of control very fast imo. But then again I was never head over hills with “silk” I used to have a the portico channel strip and was never impressed with silk on the pre. Works better on the master bus but still don’t use much. Unit is over priced though for sure but It will enhance your sound

    Disclamer: I am not trolling this Video....I think this is an awesome unit....especially as a final analog mastering Unit...for anyones Studio.....
    I have discorved using my own songs as audio experiments.....
    If you use Amethyst 4 by Acustica Audio...with Karacter by Plugin and Alliance on Turbo Mode but only at 35% with ASH Grey D2...on your Analog mix
    Then use the Amethyst 4 Pre in 2500 Bus Mode, again with Karacter (Master) Amek 250 EQ with THD up to 100 and Stereo with up to 120, Nebula Alex Bs Pres Colors and Saturation in Rupert Neve Silk Mode and Ash Again on final analog Master
    that 100% Duplicates the Same Width, Tone, Lushness, and Sonic Weight on that Unit
    Now...all the Plugins together Total.....$450-$500 but....thats not a bad Investment while your Saving up for this or a Portico
