      I know what you mean. Especially on those fine details like eyes and pistons or pipes. But I get the colors that I want based on what they look like and then mix or use them individually. It’s all a matter of what you want to do. I also use Mr Hobby leveling thinner to get rid of my brush marks when I paint with a brush and it comes out nice and smooth.

  • @Howtoeatrocks

    I have pretty bad tremors when it comes to detailed work so I haven’t been able to use brushes in years. Just leaving kits raw. And at the end of the day, elitism be damned im gonna get markers because at least I’m painting them

    • @PlamoTherapist
      @PlamoTherapist  Год назад +1

      Hey there! Don't let haters get in your way of doing what you want to YOUR kits. If you want to leave them bare, that's YOUR choice. 😁 I am happy that you are doing what you can to your kits, and do hope you have fun in the process.
      Now I don't know the full extent of your tremors, but one thing that might be an option ACTUALLY IS airbrushing. The larger gross-motor movements might be less affected depending on the condition and can really open a whole new door to customizing gunpla. 😁 I hope you continue to find joy in this hobby and don't let anything I or anyone else say that you CAN'T do something. 😁

    How well do these markers lay down on bare plastic? How is their adhesion?

    • @PlamoTherapist
      @PlamoTherapist  2 года назад +2

      Hey there, great question! These markers are on par for adhesion when compared to Gundam Brand Markers. They can handle a bump and some light handling, but just like other acrylic paints, they can scratch if you rub it the wrong way or with too much force.
      Hope this helps! Midwest Hobby and Craft should be getting a restock soon! 😁

    • @PlamoTherapist
      @PlamoTherapist  11 месяцев назад +1

      Hey there! Great question! In my experience, they fall between lacquer and acrylics. While not as easily chipped or scratched like Acrylics, they are not quite as durable as lacquer based paints either. However, with a topcoat, they'll be much stronger and more resistant to any wear and tear it may face. Hope this answers your question and best of luck!

    If it's just small deatils on bare plastic where being alcohol or water based is not really important, are these better than official gold gundam markers?

    • @PlamoTherapist
      @PlamoTherapist  Год назад

      Hey, thank you so much for watching! And great question! The reason I would say they are is because of the brush tip that these have. The Gundam Markers have a chisel tip like a highlighter that's plastic which isn't ideal for painting.
      Hope this answers your question and best of luck! 😁

    So is it best to say paint markers should be used for details, not the entire kit?

    • @PlamoTherapist
      @PlamoTherapist  2 года назад

      Hi Zutto,
      In my experience, yes markers are more suited for details rather than full paint jobs.
      The quick drying nature of the alcohol and even the water-based paint markers increases the potential for streaking with multiple passes meaning it's more difficult to get a complete and even coverage. That isn't to say it's impossible, but if you wanted to fully hand paint a kit that there are better alternatives out there.
      Hope this helps, and best of luck to you. 😁

      Hey Kris! Astute observation! They are very similar in that they are acrylic based brush-tipped markers. However, the DSPIAEs are alcohol based just like the Gundam Markers. If you don't paint your kits, then it doesn't really matter, but if you paint your kits, you run the same risks as regular Gundam Markers.

    I got to try these. I HATE gundam markers. I they are runny and leave ugly streaks, never had anything good to say from them. But these look promising. Aiye Chrome markers are also fantastic for gold and chrome stuff including chrome panel lining. The gold and chrome gundam markers are trash, runny, leave a glittery fake chrome finish, don't work properly on metal or smooth unsanded surfaces. There's something really ironic and infuriating about a marker that is supposed to be for making gundam model kits being worse than basically anything else you can buy.
