Great review, thank you. I've got a few (quite a lot!) FoW tanks to paint. They look excellent. I also love doing camouflage. Bank balance going to take a hit!
Great review and ideas for usage. If you have the Real Color paints in the jar (either original glass or new fomula in plastic) it would be great to see a color comparison as nobody seems to be doing them.
@@fluxxNZ I told AK this, but their distribution in the US feels lacking. I’d love to do more as I feel they have a very strong historical range, but I have difficulty getting it at my FLGS. I hope that changes. 👍
Thanks for the video, I paint similar models and camo with brush hasn't been very fun, but this definitely seems better for me personally. Gonna order some.
They look and perform like the Dspiae markers which are better than the Mr. Hobby ones. . Only reason why I never reviewed those is their lack of military matte colors since they target Gundam builders. These AKs look worth buying.
I think I based them with Vallejo Russian 4BO spray from Vallejo. Brown or black wash then dry brush with Vallejo Cam Olive Green. I then used a very light drybrush of Vallejo Russian Green and even lighter Vallejo Iraqi Sand for weathering
@@MiniatureGameMontage thank you for sharing this I’m working on a Soviet army and I was struggling with painting my tanks but I’m going to try this out.
My real question is can they be blended easily? I do a lot of blending. Seems like not for how quick it dries. Might just be useful for bold highlights at larger scales.
@@MiniatureGameMontage I actually got some to experiment with Gundam models, because most of those have seperate parts for each color, so I was like 'Well, if I can't blend, I'm still good!', so we'll see! Also would be great for detail areas like cockpits, warning areas, or other spots of saturated, pure color on bigger models. I might try using two markers within a few seconds nd see if it works.
Great timely review I was looking at these or items like these. Side note, what software did you use to create your intro and logo? Getting closer to some gaming content with my boys.
Depends on the period; IIRC, in mid-1944 vehicles were to be painted in camouflage at the factory. One point where the markers fall down a bit is that you can't get different shades - rotbraun and olivgrun were issued as pastes to the units, and the dilution was up to the unit - the rotbraun could be any color from brick red to chocolate brown, and the olivgrun could be from pea green to a black green.
I just bought these in white and black. Not really going to use them in painting but rather use them for writing thumbnails stenciled letters on military equipment. I have civil war limber wagons that need “US” written on them
Seems like a really clever idea. Could really make hazard stripes easier I would think.
That's genius!
What a wonderful time to be a modeler. The rest of the world is a dumpster fire, but hobbies got cool.

Great video. Thanks for sharing your experience
Great coverage on the red and the yellow -two notoriously difficult colours.
Wow. What an ingenious solution. I would never have known to even look for this. Thank you
Sure thing! I just used this again on a different job. Very useful!
Hi, I'm Mike from Bristol UK 🇬🇧. I enjoyed your video as I just ordered a set of AK paint pens.
I now know what to expect.
Hope you enjoy! Cheers!

Good video! After a few months, I hope you can review the same markers you used today.

Looks good for a direct application result.
Oh the graffiti idea is awesome. Looks like it works so well too.

Oh man, I may need to get myself some of these for graffiti. And I bet it would be an easier way of doing hazard stripes too!
Yep! Totally missed hazard stripes! Definitely going to ask my local store if they can stock these.
When will these be available ?

What brown wash did you use? Just the regular Vallejo?
I found the vallejo washes to be a bit strong. I used Army Painter Soft Tone. Could also you Agrax Earthshade.
@@MiniatureGameMontage awesome thank you!
Not new. Tamiya did this back in the early eighties. I had some, even used them on a faded suzuki paddock jacket.
Can I use these markers on unprimed models?
@@germaN87AC don’t see why not. It similar to putting paint on unprimed models. 👍
Just got some - tried them on bare plastic sprues and it was all good.
I’ve been using posca paint pens for years

@@burroc5536 great! Years ago I used a site called Placeit I think to create an intro. It was $10 or something but I’ve used it ever since.
You need to put your MGM logo on the Necromunda terrain. 😀
German tank crews applied the camo in the field, thus the exact pattern could be pretty much anything.

Gundam Markers for grown-ups...
Blimey it's like no one had ever made paint pens before innit !
not specifically for World War II vehicles and schemes
Acrylic ones?
All the ones I've had have been ink not acrylic...
get a hairy stick and some paint dude
