    The tree with the purple flowers is called Wisteria. Actual lavender
    grows as bushes, usually in rocky dry hot areas. Very beautiful though!

    There have been a few vids recently on how nice and interesting Narita is as a place to visit, not just a place to go from the airport to Tokyo. But timewise, you guys are the first to really illustrate it. I really appreciate the quality and depth of information you bring to your vids.

    >11:55 I checked the Narita-san website, the tree story pagoda was not build in 2007 but 1712, Edo period. It is a national cultural treasure. The main entrance gate building for the temple was made in 2007.

    +Kyde and Eric .....
    Hahaha ~ another awesome vid from you guys as usual. & Just loving the idea of doing some extended-traveling from the comfort of a van. That's pretty cool guys!!!!
    Chiba's lookin mighty nice this time of year & seems like the weather is cooperating pretty nice as well. I do have to say though - you guys did the Tai Yaki thing but passed up the Takoyaki..?! Not sure I'd have done the same (of course, being from Hawaii, I do kinda have a serious taste for Tako, either from here or locally in Japan as well).
    Either way though, seeing the strawberry farm was awesome & totally better then anything we could possibly find over here - you lucky sunovaguns 😒..!!!!!!
    Dang though, really wish we could send you guys some of our homegrown banana's from our backyard garden, over here. We've got 3 banana plants/trees that all are just starting to shoot out some starting fruits & probably be ready to pick by the summertime. Ours are what we'd normally refer to as "apple banana's" although they're actually pretty similar (maybe even actually the same variety - tbh) to the typical banana's you guys are finding in the markets over there (significantly smaller in size, a lot sweeter & sometimes even exhibiting a slight apple-like scent while still on the tree).
    Anyways, will be sending you guys an email in the near future, as Gina (aka: The Wifey) has finally figured out our traveling/business schedule for the later part of this year. So yeah, hopefully we'll be in the Tokyo area in time to see ya out there (this next lecture/seminar I'm doing is now "definitely a go"). Also just wanted to throw out there ~ if you guys ever wanna do some "couch surfing" out here in Hawaii, we've usually gotta couple spare bedrooms that y'all are more then welcome to hang at (winter seasons can be a bit tricky though, as we've usually also got some friends over from Oz-Land & neighboring NZ for the winter surf season, here on the north shore of O'ahu). You just let us know though & I'm sure we can figure out some kinda decent arrangements on the matter ~ LoL.
    Take care & much love, peace & Aloha's from all of us over here,
    .... Ray & fam ✌😄

    • @kydeanderic
      @kydeanderic  9 лет назад +1

      Ray Wong I don't eat octopus. I don't want to be the guy with a tentacle hanging out of my mouth when the rest of their race comes back from space to overthrow the world. Plus it's chewy. Your banana farm sounds amazing, I'm jealous of that! Maybe we will be able to come to Hawaii sometime, I was just telling my mom how much I want Kyde to see Hawaii someday! That'd be fun! -Eric

    • @raywong3520
      @raywong3520 9 лет назад

      Hahaha....
      I totally hear ya on that one about the Tako. My son actually won't even come near me whenever I've just snagged one from the water - or even just recently cleaned &/or cooked one. It's pretty funny considering he's almost/virtually a better swimmer/surfer then I am, at this point ~ LoL.
      & yeah our garden is kinda awesome. We've got a couple mango trees, a smaller sized papaya tree, a honey tangerine/mandarin orange tree (that one is almost as huge as the mango trees) & the three banana plants/trees. Not to mention Gina's actual garden that's got stuff like tomatoes, cucumbers, won bok/Chinese cabbages, onions & scallions & a whole buncha various herbs & such. That's kinda her thing though. She's gotta serious green thumb for that kinda thing. I just usually pick whatever she asks me to, for her - as I'm taller & she's usually busy with the kids & cooking & the house n' stuff ~ LoL.
      & You guys are absolutely welcome to hang out with us over here too. Would surely enjoy having you guys over for a bit sometime. We've gotta couple of spare bedrooms here & always enjoy having friends over. We do have one lil' pre-requisite though. We usually ask our friends to take at least one turn at helping out at making dinner with us for everyone (or at least help us out with a "few" of the cooking duties for an evening) as it can kinda get old having to constantly be cooking for a whole buncha people at one time (the general rule is pretty much "we buy & you help fry" for the most part) & also really enjoy trying different types of stuff from wherever our friends are coming over from. No worries though - pretty sure you'd be okay with our normal fresh-garden, pantry & fridge/freezer options.
      So yeah, we also just sent you guys an email so be on the lookout for that one. & we've finally gotta set date for later on this summer, being in the Tokyo area as well.
      Anyways, take care guys & talk/type to ya soon. & of course, Lotsa love & aloha to you guys, from the whole fam,
      .... Ray & fam

      Oh yeah....
      & if you do ever consider Hawaii as a future travel destination- I think maybe a "combo" trip to the Philippines AND Hawaii could be pretty awesome (& really, it's actually pretty affordable that way too). I know you guys had mentioned there as a possible option at one time & because of the large Filipino population here in Hawaii, it could be pretty cool to see just how similar (& different) both Filipino cultures can be. I have family there, so I'm kinda familiar with there & really enjoy everytime I have the chance to go back. Just a thought though, as I remember you guys mentioning it a while back ~ LoL.

    Enjoyed your latest adventure. Just for your information the dessert you ate at the sushi bar was not mochi (made from pounded rice), it was kuzumochi, made from arrow root, a vegetable powder turned into a jelly consistency. The combination of kinako, a toasted soybean powder and the black honey is a very Japanese flavor and an acquired taste.
    In the future you might look into public bathhouses throughout Japan on your road trips. They are not as common in recent times as they were in the past but they are relatively common and in most towns including small rural towns. They are a popular, inexpensive and very relaxing form of bathing in Japan.

    That chicken nan roll you had is called a Kebab, or on mainland Europe they call them a Shawarma. I think they originated in Turkey, but they're a regular thing here in the UK. It's the kinda food we eat at 3am when you've drank 45 beers and there's no place left open to get food so you go to the kebab shop on the way home. Droppin' some Euro facts for ya! Great video once again, woo! :D

    Watching the strawberry tasting was interesting. Many years back, we had a Japanese delegation in London and I was told (as the junior) to find some presents as an exchange is usual (so our briefing material said). And did I have guidance? Nope. However I chose to get boxes of Thornton's chocolates as the shop was nearby. So we were presented with lovely silk hankerchiefs and we have our sweet chocolates. I thought my career had ended at that point. However,. The compliments we received later from Japan were really good. So good that they put in orders to the firm. We had no idea about the Japanese sweet tooth. So our corporate briefing material was updated :)

    Tip: place to shower/bath.
    Look for a Sento (public bath).
    These usually cost about 400 to 700 yen. The facility is usually separated by gender and they are equipped with shampoo/conditioner/bath gel and a big ofuro to relax in. These Sentos are not super abundant but each town should have one (probably).

    • @kydeanderic

      90hippy123 The voltage is different, but 99% of electronics can accept both voltages. The plug is physically different, there is no ground hole on their plugs so you will need a very cheap adapter to plug in anything that has 3 prongs. Not a voltage converter (expensive), just a plug adapter. They are like $1 here at 100yen shops. -Eric

    Love your videos. They are so inspiring. I have a question though. Before you started on your world tour, how did you handle the banking situation. Did you access your money through the internedt using debit cards. And how about the banking situation in Japan?

      Mark Hines We use a Charles Schwab account in the states, it has good online banking, awesome support and no ATM fees worldwide, which is incredible for us. We have used local ATMs in every country we have been to and never had a major hangup. In Japan we have Japanese bank accounts, basically works the same as it does in the states. -Eric

    Kyde - You said you weren't a teacher anymore, is RUclips your full time job now? Was the process of getting your driver's licence difficult / lengthy? Also - your GPS screen sort of reminded me of something funny. I live in NZ and my friend has a Japanese car with a built in GPS. in the really old days, a thin-sliced ham is called wind-blown sliced meat. This is because not many people could afford meat in their meals. Meat was so expensive, the poor students learned to slice the meat very thin. Hence, the name wind-blown meat.
