Every day we are hearing "crime is getting worse, omg we've never seen criminals do things like this before " etc. But we never hear that the penalties for crimes has changed in the justice system.
If you want behaviors to change then consequences have to change.
Who is fearing going to jail when you have free rent, food, drugs, tv, phone, internet, playing cards, chess, gang activity, etc as a form of punishment. Back in the day criminals were sentenced to physical hard labor, building rail roads, etc.and depending on the crime executed more swiftly.

I've raised my son on my own. He's 16 now. Key is communication. I know what he's doing before he does it. I'm so thankful my son knows right from wrong. Also, thankful I gave him books instead of video games. He's got the Playstation now, yet no time to play. Major school work. I'm lucky, he's super smart and is extremely well behaved. He's exceptional. Where are these young criminals Parent's?

I raised three young black men and I kept them busy with sports, travel, books, youth groups, etc. I constantly communicated with them, too! I told them they had two strikes against them before they were born; 1 your black and 2, your male! I sacrificed to keep them in private and Christian school. I tell them that nobody owns them anything, don't let someone else's ignorance make you ignorant, you can change the past, so keep looking forward, never give up and be responsible for yourself! One is serving in the United States Navy, other working on a Masters degree (already graduated with two degrees in 3.5 years and graduated with high honors and received scholarship money) and my youngest, who is special needs and I homeschooled for high school has been gainfully employed since he graduated from high school.

They’re getting lax on shoplifting and therefore more looting is happening, this isn’t that shocking.
