They are homeless! Drug addiction is a disease! My son was one of them, who is not anymore fortunately he has his family support unfortunately these homeless addicts don't have that and there should be more rehabs!
I changed my ways and I'm now 18 years clean and have a good career and a great life going and I was one of the ones who had no support system no family members willing to help I did it on my own it was hard but now I don't look back

My moms car was stolen by in the area around Target on Lomas. Disgusting place. She's older and so trusting. We never recovered the car. I see so many people driving around without license plates. I can't stand this cess pool of a city. I live in another state and dread when I need to go to Abq. It is so unsafe for anyone.

I used to bike/Run down there years ago. I had a guy approach me with a bat with a couple nails in it once when I was on my bike. I hopped off my bike and went after the guy with my 380 and he took off running. I never saw him again even I was around there.

I moved from Albuquerque in 1997, only homeless I remember was the Indians who use to hang out at the bus stop at Zuni and San Mateo.
They'd come to the Albertsons parking lot asking for money.
Only crimes I remember was mild gang activity and some robberies.
I remember that it was safe to walk places and ride bikes.
I don't remember anyone talking so bad about the police.
Guess Albuquerque really has gotten bad.

Me, too. And I live in a very liberal state that, oddly enough, has very loose CC laws. Unlike California, where I also had my CC license, my current state doesn't even require me to prove need. As long as I have no record, I can carry, and I do. It's not easy concealing while riding, especially during the hotter months, so I'll often carry my single-stack Sig instead of my Glock 17, which has twice the capacity. My riding partner in my new state, who I've known for twenty years, rolled his eyes when I told him I would carry while riding, even though we'd often ride past sketchy homeless areas, where I was once chased a long way by a homeless dude's Rottweiler. He changed his tune after seeing one homeless dude pull a gun on another while he was riding that same bike path.
Why do you use the word ‘full’ to describe a carry permit? Are there partial carry permits. I hope you can explain this.

You do not need a concealed carry permit when on your bike or in your car. They are considered an extension of your domicile in NM.

Scares the heck out of me when I ride by these camps!! They are also often near San Mateo and arroyo (near Comanche and all that way down to the other arroyo and up to green jeans .
They won't do anything like always and if you fight back we're the ones that get in trouble. Our governor won't do anything about it either. Our mayor is soft .
Saw 4 people sleeping on the bosque bike path this morning and a couple guys sleeping on the ground at Tingley Beach park... I wish law enforcement would ensure these vagrants do not hang out at Tingley Beach where children come to explore nature!

This is definitely a tough problem. Albuquerque is one of my favorite cities in the US and the population of homeless people has grown significantly in the last 10 years. We work and live in a society. The folks on the street do not want to be part of that or are incapable of being part of that, yet they are parasitic to it and the hosts have grown tired of it. I say we lead with compassion and end with harsh reality. You are offerred some "get back on your feelt" help on an individualized basis and, failing that, you can survive and thrive as well as you are capable, far from here.

The homeless should never be able to pitch camps on public infrastructure. Maybe an argument could be made that they could be on raw land (BLM or state) somewhere, but if public tax dollars improved an area, it should be open to all, and therefore not subject to someone pitching a tent.

Weird how no one ever wants to see the homeless just get home. This man didn't deserve this attack. A lot of people don't deserve to be homeless. Wages in this city are horrible, though, and that's not anything I ever hear an outcry to change either. The cost of an apartment that isn't a complete slum is another thing I never hear news stories about. The cost of utilities constantly going up, and the cost of gas and food and clothing and shoes - what type of degree does one need to be able to afford just a safe apartment that doesn't have antiquated appliances and plastic tubs and sinks that sound like you're going to crash through the floor from how incredibly old and overused they are🙄😒everyone h8s the homeless but no one is coming up with an actual solution to the problem. You people just keep having the city shuffle them from neighborhood to neighborhood and just keep complaining and complaining. Obviously some of you need to be reduced to homelessness so you can actually understand not only how outrageously difficult it is to bounce back from but how difficult it is to survive in that moment. Do they want to poop on the sidewalk? No. Do they have an alternative?
