Aside from this, Thalia's story is that she joined with the spirit of Saint Traft and battled the Eldrazi and was eventually saved by Sigarda when the Eldrazi threatened to overwhelm her.
After I said I began to worry that it was wrong but decided not to interrupt the flow of the episode. My bad! Thanks for helping to prevent further misinformation!
I wonder if someone was trolling specifically so that you'd a bunch of comments laying into you or something, lol. Anyway, it's all good. Keep up the great work.
adam I always love when Cam says that he's going to beat the crap out of Graham if Graham has some kind of deep cut or punny nickname for a card. Alex's mind being constantly blown is also awesome, lol
Serge kept referring to Masters 25 as "M25". The M'x' naming convention is used by Wizards as the three character code for core sets (M10, M11, M12, etc.) and as such, M25 will be the code for Magic Core Set 2025, if Core sets haven't been canceled forever (again) before then. The three character code for Masters 25 is *A25*, presumably for 'Anniversary'. Not actually a criticism or serious jab at Serge, just easy pickins'.
The next Magic core set will be called "Core 2019" (released 2018, because apparently big stores throw out products if they have a year in their name that's the previous year), but since the Commnder sets already have the Cnn codes, they just stuck with the Mnn codes for the core sets. So yes, quite some less-than-obvious code shuffling going on there. :-)
Modern Bogles doesn't play Open the Armory, but the extra-spicy Modern Aura Swap does. Alex should look at this one if he wants to cheat Eldrazi Conscription. (Hint: Arcanum Wings.)
Would you play Promise of Bunrei in White Weenie? Its good if they wrath you. Especially if you have one of your anthems out. Except Always Watching of course.
The art on Exclude is very specifically the old art Phyrexian Rager. That with the Unearth art with the Phyrexian Negator makes me think Phyrexia is coming back soon.
Open the armory also seems decent for finding pattern of rebirth. Does the possibility of losing to removal make casting pattern THAT much worse than getting it with rector?
That was quite a while back already (Twitch replay: www.twitch.tv/videos/218014627 ), so it should be up soon. That is, unless uploading currently isn't happening. (Last one was a month ago, which seems bad…)
24:35 What? (While discussing Blue Sun's Zenith in a High Tide deck): "If you have a Paradox Engine and a Batterskull, you can go infinite." Would someone explain this to me?
Overseer76 It is assuming you have enough mana-rocks to cast and bounce the batterskull with leftover mana. The main paradox engine deck plays tons of rocks, which is how the engine gets abused
After thinking about it a bit, I figured as much by reverse engineering the idea of "going infinite". Paradox Engine would require some nonland permanent-based mana sources in order to replay something like Batterskull a bunch. I thought I had heard him wrong, because there are better self-bouncing creatures in blue (and I assume white). Arcanis the Omnipotent, Fleeting Image, Blinking Spirit, Walker of Secret Ways, Master Transmuter and more would all work for this, depending on how the rest of the deck is constructed. I also had to assume that this High Tide deck isn't too focused on untapping Islands if mana-rocks are a major part of the strategy. And as for going infinite, Blue Sun's Zenith only gets cast a second time if there is YET ANOTHER unnamed card in this cycle (on top of the eight or more mana-rocks) -- one that allows you to get it back again after shuffling it into your library. My point being: in a highlander format, Batterskull plus Paradox Engine plus Blue Sun's Zenith doesn't combo as cleanly or as intuitively as is implied.
What gave you the idea that the Gitrog Monster ate Thalia? The Gitrog Monster is only mentioned in one story, which it self doesn't affect the main story line and Thalia isn't even mentioned in that story. Second, Thalia, Heretic Cathar is printed in EM and the Gitrog Monster in SOI, so how couls she be dead then? I'm sorry that I got so triggered over this, but Thalia is like the main non-planeswalker protagonist of the whole SOI-block, so to give such wrongful information about her is almost blasphemous.
The Gitrog Monster didn't eat Thalia Liam what are you on about?
That's not what happened to Thalia in the lore magic.wizards.com/en/articles/archive/magic-story/sacrifice-2016-03-23
Aside from this, Thalia's story is that she joined with the spirit of Saint Traft and battled the Eldrazi and was eventually saved by Sigarda when the Eldrazi threatened to overwhelm her.

Liam Highlander it's fine I just love my baby girl Thalia
I wonder if someone was trolling specifically so that you'd a bunch of comments laying into you or something, lol. Anyway, it's all good. Keep up the great work.
thalia ain't dead
The Gitrog story didn't include Thalia at all, that was just a side story for the glory of hypnotoad.
The girl in the Gitrog Monster story was a random villager named Mia. Thalia had nothing to do with it.
And Mia didn't die, either.
True. She became her own kind of monster instead.
Okay, I'm going to throw down. I like North 100 more than TTC. honestly coz I
SnowToad yes
And Alex is just there having his mind blown constantly. He literally has the best reactions of LRR with Cameron coming in second.
adam I really liked the Highlander TTC episodes with Cam and Alex, they were great and I miss them.
I dunno, Ben's over the top flip-outs are awesome too...
adam I always love when Cam says that he's going to beat the crap out of Graham if Graham has some kind of deep cut or punny nickname for a card. Alex's mind being constantly blown is also awesome, lol
Remember folks, if you ever have Doomsday Piles; please consult a doctor.
Anyone wanna tell Serge that this set is A25, not M25, and that M25 is the hypothetical core set that will come out in the second half of 2024? :P
docbp87 wot?
Serge kept referring to Masters 25 as "M25". The Gitrog Monster ate Thalia is now a meme on this channel.
Modern Bogles doesn't play Open the Armory, but the extra-spicy Modern Aura Swap does.
Alex should look at this one if he wants to cheat Eldrazi Conscription. (Hint: Arcanum Wings.)
26:49 Wait, you can Brainstorm WRONG!?
Ragnarok2kx oh my friend you have no idea
Serge "Protein" Yager
DeadAccount now all he needs to do is get buff to obfuscate the source of the nickname
Serge already is on the "swol squad".
I think at this point we've had enough topics just mentioned on the show that we could actually get a "Jer and Liam Disagree" episode
I'm confused as to why Liam thought Thalia got eaten given she's now a Heretic Cathar.
I find Serges' lack of hat disturbing....
Would you play Promise of Bunrei in White Weenie? Its good if they wrath you. Especially if you have one of your anthems out. Except Always Watching of course.
I love this podcast as always. The highlight of my week.
32:43 Y'all ever seen the Old Spice commercials with Terry Crews? Cause Serge just did an amazing rendition of them.
Found the meme. 4 years later we get THE card
ravenous chupacabra is a horror for lore/culture/flavor reasons. Chupacabra are south american cryptids, so, by definition, they are horrors
the flavor text on simian spirit guide is perfect
The art on Exclude is very specifically the old art Phyrexian Rager. That with the Unearth art with the Phyrexian Negator makes me think Phyrexia is coming back soon.
Bogles is in Canadian highlander?
I wonder if the phrase "Unpointed Tutor" is a meme yet...
That story of powerful magic who jer rekt so hard, let's mourn that guy
Doomsday, 2nd approach of the second sun, gg
Yeah no, I read the story and that's definitely not what happened to Thalia.
Serge: Says a swear. Viewers: Lose dey Gotdam minds.
I have the mild complaint that Victoria, BC is actually South of *most of germany
Liam's jumper matches Kathleen's cardigan.
Woooooo! I love this so muuuch!
HYPE TRIBAL LET'S GO
Savanah lions is definitely one of worst savanah lions but It’s a pet card of mine so a foily one gets in
Kyle Lynn a PET card.
Cause its a kitteh
Open the armory also seems decent for finding pattern of rebirth. Does the possibility of losing to removal make casting pattern THAT much worse than getting it with rector?
I'd like to see a video were you guys go over some of the best cards from sets from before this podcast existed.
But you can get control magic...and removal technically
Well Serge is now the second instance I've heard of Protean being pronounced in that particular way. Neat.
Whats this stream they talk about at the end. Where Jer was playing r/g ramp. Is there a link I can get for the recording?
Anyone else watch this podcast who doesn't play this format or have any intent to? I just love them talking #NOHOMO.
Denver Boyd same, only #ALLTHEHOMO
I don't play this format bc I don't have moxen and such, but I'm about to start brewing some peasant highlander
ooh, sounds cool. Can I get a decklist when you've got one?
It's been said before by others and by myself but I am straight as heck and still, Serge's haircut and v-neck are doing me... "fast effects".
Eric Choinière yup, Serge and Ben are just the best
How's this for a blue combo? Jace, then Stasis for 5 turns XD
Great Episode!!
During Powerful Magic there was mention of you four playing on stream.
Any chance of that being uploaded to RUclips?
That was quite a while back already (Twitch replay: www.twitch.tv/videos/218014627 ), so it should be up soon. That is, unless uploading currently isn't happening. (Last one was a month ago, which seems bad…)
Invigorate, did someone say tainted remedy deck¿ :P
I see a bennwagon in close future
I bet this set is real spicy for Highlander

So Ive always been curious..can anyone tell me what brand water bottle alex has?
I don't know the brand, but it's a common design that many customization companies offer
23:58 Alex, please use this voice in a crapshot or something, it sounds awesome.
Isn't that the Grapekeeper's voice? (If not, just get in the sea!)

Btw, I love that most top comments also addresses this issue xD
Nice)))
Gitrog monster mention triggered me
