Thanks so much for watching guys! I make new videos every week! Click here to subscribe: bit.ly/2s3t2FN
What's that, that you do when you zoom all they way in her face then quickly zoom out? why and how do you do that?
joshua gonzalez its the crop in to focus feature on the xt3 only selectable in manual focus mode. You simply press in the rear command dial to toggle it.
The composition of colors is something beautiful, nice matching dress clothes.
What do you think about:
Zeiss Touit 32mm f/1.8 I just started and I would like to use it also for street photography
I'll say one thing... having a separate videographer raises this presentation way above the usual POV stuff that many people post.
I really enjoyed watching you work and NOT dealing with anything BUT what YOU were doing. This should be the standard.
Beautiful model, beautiful camera, beautiful lens...beautiful photographer😅🙌🏻everything is ideal at this photosession
I normally shoot the BTS so this would be even more beautiful if I was there!
That back pack must be full of 500 1TB SD cards.
Pitcher Clothing that’s just for a half day of shooting too, then I switch backpacks at lunch time 😉
Great shoot!
Thanks man!
Bro look into the Thumb Grip attachment that you attach to the Fuji Hotshoe mount. It gives you a place to rest your thumb when shooting. Makes a world of difference. Amazon for under $20
Jimmy The Gent thanks for the idea bro!
@@MitchLally there is also a screw on button you can screw onto the shutter which again makes it a tad easier to hit that micro shutter button.
using on on my xpro1, best thing ever! no need for the additional grip accesory if you have the thumb rest
Your review made me buy this lens. Simply love the way it renders.
So what are your thoughts today? Manual focus is difficult after 6 months?
Vincent Portais I only manual focus on Fuji...
800 files to get few descent photos... is this the path we should follow?
Damian Sliwinski yes. Thanks for watching
Glad someone said this. Yes its good tactic to get the photo with great focus. But have fun trying to nail a shot with desecive moment. You will miss the moment. Yes you might get lucky but more than likely you'll miss. Its just a polite critique and criticism, with out it, you'll be lost.
I just asked, because you were more "focused" on this small camera screen and lens focusing than on the subject. It felt like tourist snapshots... "hold still" and 25 frames in 3 seconds. At least one should be okay, right?
You should try (every now and then) to make 1 good out of one frame taken. It's hard, challenging, but great and satisfying in the end when you nail everything.
I appreciate you trying to help man. I take photos while the model moves and pick the best one at the end. Its actually a good process because while I might be happy with the expression / angle etc - the model will also have a slightly different idea of what looks better to him/her - so having those options in post - shooting a couple of extra frames is better than only having one or two options in post. I learned this over 7 years of wedding photography - I guess its solidified as a habit now.
no
I more than highly recommend you use Capture One Pro for Fujifilm RAW. I use Lightroom for Nikon or any other platform for that matter, but for Fujifilm, the differences in output are quite evident. I remove any noise reduction and sharpen at 140% at 0.8 pixels at 0 threshold and they are on par with FF output. I know, because I have 4 x FF Nikon bodies as well as 3 x Fujifilm X-T3's and X-H1 and an X-T20. Do give it a try. Oh, and for manual focus lenses, I use High Red focus peaking.
Benjamin Kanarek thanks for the info Benjamin!
Moving from Canon to Fuji once all of my gear sells. Just can't get over the image/video quality of this camera. So silky! Everyone's freaking out that it's not full-frame, but I started with mirrorless crop when I began photography and I didn't feel overly empowered when I upgraded to a 5d mark iii. Hard to beat Canon's color science, but Fuji's definitely VERY close at this point. Nice video, man! Very clean! Give kudos to your camera guy, too!
Joshua Maillet thank you for the feedback!
its the lens not the camera which makes it so smooth. (this lens is also available for Canon APS-C)
Coming back to this video :), Might be cool to try on X-H2s so I may pick it up.
Yooo I been trying to find this video again for ages.. This video convinced me to buy an xt3 a year ago and I’m sooo thankful. Such great shots man !
Thanks mate!
the fact that you arent using the viewfinder gives me mad anxiety.
Brian Fynch eh I’m not saying all that. He clearly knows what hes doing. But that style of shooting would mean zero keepers for me. But I mean, I’m old school.
I have the same feeling, but after seeing how his pictures turn out... Who cares? they are in focus and on point ...
Well even at f/1.4 im struggling to get perfect focus with the viewfinder let alone on f/0.95
Its just easier to spray and pray in this kinda setup and situation...
@@RD5500 yeah nothing wrong with that, its a skill i dont possess.
He's using a mirroless camera, why would he need to, unless it was too bright for the lcd?
IZZY LOVISI Is very Beautiful!!!!!
Very cool Man! I love to shoot with vintage manual lenses when I'm not in a rush. My favorite is the Mamiya 645 80mm f1.9
Do you use your Fuji more than your 1dx ? Curious to know. I’m in the market for a new camera for photo work and want to know if Fuji stacks up to full frame.
Awesome video. I just bought this lens and everything you say about it is correct....nice examples of the photo capabilities and video functionality of this lens. Well done.
If that was my photoshoot, I'd be done after this. Game finished. Can't get any better than this.
If you multiply the APSC by the 0.95 it’s about an f1.4 love that you brought that up!!! Mad props ✊🏽✊🏽
video looks next level
30.000 pics in the 1 sec xD, lol
Thanks for checking out my video :)
I really like my Mitakon 0.95! Great video!
Awesome to hear, thanks for checking out the video!
That girl, awe struck
Suuuuper clean color grading bro!
Christian Naydenov thanks Christian!
Check your local camera shops, people. Bought my used copy in almost mint condition for around $315+tax USD around a half a year ago. Charge it to luck but I’ve never been happier. I absolutely love everything about this lens and it stays glued to my X-T20. Great video, Mitch! 👍
Lee Deleon thanks Lee! Glad you love it as much as I do!
These videos are absolute perfection man! So epic!
Chad - Thank you so much brother.
Schönes Video mit sehr schönen Bildern 😉
You did a great video man. Great lens review. Great shoot. You got heaps of amazing photos. Mad skills bro. Can't wait to see you colour grading video.
Thanks man! Appreciate the comment :)
Thanks for the review
Brilliant video..
Given a choice xf35 1.4 or mitakon35 0.95 , what would be your pick and why.. I'm stuck in that situation.. an enthusiast.
Hey Mitch, excellent photos and video. You challenged yourself and it turned out excellent.
sid vicious thanks!
This is how someone should review a lens or a camera, loved it !!!
And you photography, videography, editing, color grading all in point !!!
Thank you ❤️
Ps:Just now subscribed
Beautiful model, excellent shots! The video is superb! Nice job man!
xt3 is life :D
fire bro!
I’m enjoying this video and photo modeling combo! You’re doing that better than everyone I follow on RUclips
John Ventura thanks John!
Know this is a 2 year old video, how do you feel about Fuji & Canon? I sold my Sony and have been looking into either of these cameras.
Fuji XH1
Fuji XT4
Canon R6
Really enjoy in this video
Looooved this video! Just Got my own Fujifilm X-T3 and your videos are part of the reason. I actually did a video with my first impression of the camera, and I gotta day, I was surprised. I’ve used canon my whole photography life, but it’s always felt like the shoe didn’t quite fit right with me. The style and feeling of canon just wasn’t my cup of tea. Now the shoe finally fits and I feel more motivated than ever, with my Fuji xt3.
Great for low-light photography, too!
How do you get her whole body sharp at 0.95?
district5rookie it's actually f1.4 like he said
just step back from the model make some distance
Love your presets!
Photography nowadays: bokeh + vsco presets = WOW YOUR PHOHOS ARE REALLY NICE!!!
MxC thanks for watching! :) hope you have a good day
Great vid brother!! Keep up the amazing work! Think I am gonna get this lens, I just got an X-T3 and experimenting with what lens to buy! As far as "your" workflow, i'ts "your" workflow and whatever amount someone wants to put into "their" work, is up to them, the end result is what we're chasing right? Which looks great! Sheesh people lol!
the bokeh looks like f 1.4 on fullframe camera
F/0,95 on a crop ain't F/0,95 in the end. I don't know whats it's cropfactor is, but an end result of F/1.4 sounds about right.
It’s equivalent
yes its equiv to nifty fifty one fulll frame 50mm 1.4
For a real 0.95 look, the lens should be f0.63.
@@martinmartinovski 0.95 is 0.95. what is real? Full frame?. Maybe medium format is . So 0.63 ain't real too
Well done
Fantastic work my friend. These shots are great! What an awesome model too, such a natural beauty. Cheers 🍻
Well done mate! Was a fun shoot. Keen for another ;)
Christopher Dodd dude thank you so much! It was so much fun.
Colours are perf 👌👌👌
Nice shoot. Love the reflection on the wall shot. Not sure I see the advantage of this lens over the 56mm 1.2 which has facial autofocus but respect you for trying diff lenses!
KingCanon thanks mate!
What perfect location/outfit luck. I love it when that happens. Stay awesome!
SOLVM thank you bro! 🙏🏻
Great video! One thing I have done with my X-H1 is take advantage of the split screen. You can choose which screen does what but I have it setup so the bigger screen is my punched in focus and the smaller is the composition. Check it out! Helps so much with manual lenses like this one.
Thanks for the tip!
Wait what...? Split screen ? First time hearing about this... Only the X-H1 does it ? Camera is $1100 on Amazon right now, been thinking about buying it..
I think most of the bodies do it. Here’s a link that shows it www.fujifilm.com/products/digital_cameras/x/fujifilm_x_t2/features/page_03.html
amazing shots and I love the videos even more. How do you get it to slow down? Is it 4K 60 frames and then in post-processing you slow it down?
breakaway2x yeah that’s right. Change the 50p footage to play back at 25p!
I bought a 50mm f/0.96 full frame lens for my Sony A73. The experiment was very good, but it is extremly heavy.
Raymond Yao yeah lots of glass in that one - same as this lens weighs a tonne for its size
Wow, some of these comments.... Anyways, great work, I think the aesthetics look great and it was a thoroughly enjoyable review of the lens
Michael Wu thank you Michael! Yeah I knew I would get some comments like that - not everyone shoots the same way or style. In the end I’m shooting for me - I had fun making this and I liked the photos I created - so that’s all that matters to me! Cheers!
The only girl that didn't have basically every picture deleted.
I'm impressed. Who needs autofocus. Amazing photos on 1st trip out using this lens
Finally a decent review of the XT-3 with this lens. Any chances of a low light testing?
Kriz91eo possibly. I rarely shoot at night. I actually shared a link to a wedding video where I shot at ISO 8000 with the 0.95 lens! Inbox me on Instagram and I can send it to you if you like.
Your effective aperture compared to full frame reduces as well on a APS-C or micro-four thirds
tiktok toyatoya I touched on that in the video mate!
Cool video and awesome shots but the thing is that once you apply the crop factor it would equal out to only a 50mm f/1.5 equivalent. At that point, you'd get nearly the same bokeh, but with autofocus out of a nifty-fifty
Aidan Samuels I think I mentioned all of this in the video?
@@MitchLally oh totally, you're right. I made the mistake of commenting mid-way through 😅
Its okay I do that sometimes too 😂😅
The people complaining about taking so many photos in a burst obviously have no clue what they are talking about 😂 you have to shoot like that to nail all of the models poses
Marvellous work. Its not about the gears.. your work stands out..
Kiran Devraaj thank you so much!
if you take a thousand pictures, one will come out right. and I am not talking about the lens but in general. When I see photographers pressing the shutter button continously, what's the point? take one photo on every pose, not thousands
no way you have earn a sub, the bokeh is soo creamy. Love it keep it up man.
Amazing shots , do you use specific settings for photography on your xt3 ?
Jean Pat & Jean Mouche thanks! not really :) just raw, auto WB and whatever focus mode suits the situation!
What is the grip setup you use for the video portion? Can you share a link?
Reggie Ballesteros yeah mate it’s in the description!
Mitch Lally thanks Mitch!
I think I may still get the 35 1.4.....I don’t use autofocus but would be nice in a pinch
Viltrox Speedbooster - $150
Takumar 50mm f/1.4 - $50
For less than half the price of the lens, you get 50mm FOV, f/1.4 bokeh and f/1 in term of light
I love this channel. Thanks bro, from South Korea.
Horang Baek thank you for watching!
fun review Mitch, but in all honesty, you mentioned using the clickless feature to change your aperture during filming (10:07). I wouldn't recommend doing that all the time. Unless you're not filming an important moment, changing your exposure in the middle of your recording is a bad idea.
Is it? What if you’re shooting a documentary? / following someone into a different lighting condition? You realise pulling iris is used a lot in big budget films too?
@@MitchLally Sure, but in this case we're not talking about big budget films with planned shots, lighting, and intention behind camera movement. In the case of your target audience, changing your aperture while filming can present a few problems that someone might not know how to fix or fully understand. Keeping a consistent look can be debated as more important. So using ISO or a variable ND with be ideal. Once again, fun video bro.
Hi Mitch, good stuff!!! question, i own EOS R and i want to buy this lens, i see you made this video in 2019, do you still recommend this for portraits or any other lens? like Argus 33,35,45 f.95? i appreciate your answers! thanks!
This camera is my best purchase ever. Fuckin hell. I'm not photographing anything atm because working too much. My mind is starting feeling
depressed. I will have a shoot next week. Very nice compositions mate, though. Keep it up!
Luke Digens thanks Luke
Why don't you use the viewfinder?
iggyblack I wanted everyone to see what I was doing in the video on the lcd
3:33, yep! Straps suck! I learnt this quickly because I was a Pentax K-1 user, and the only way to reliably get accurate AF is in Live View mode, which means holding it out in front like you demonstrated here and the strap just drips over the screen annoyingly so. Urgh!
You're very talented! Loving all the shots, stills and movies!
Derek Thanks Derek! :)
nice choice of music 🎶
Epithet Music Thank you. I use Musicbed!
Might have to get this one for my xt3. Thanks for making it!
Do it! :)
that footage and photos look amazing
awesome video as always :) After watching it 20 times I still cant decide which lens to get. I have got the 56 1.2 and the 18-55 kit lens so far. I am thinking of getting the 23 f2 as everyday prime and to get the mitakon 35 0.95 for the FF like IQ. Would that make sense or would you go for the 23 1.4 and the 56 1.2 as a combo.
So did you decide today? Which one you got and why?
Cool lens, hipster or not :) Dude... you gotta use CL/CH shooting modes instead of spazzing the shutter release... also, focus peaking!
B Diddy thanks! I am comfortable with the way I shoot mate but thanks for the advice.
I don't want to switch yet, but I'm super close. The X-H2 is probably going to make me switch.
Samual Williams dude. Yes - that camera is going to be something special. Looking forward to see what they come out with.
@@MitchLally Really, I mean really happy with my Fuji XT3. Bought mine a little used, not much, but wow what a camera.
DREAMY lens.
Adam Kozak 👌
amazing shots, Mitch
Thanks for sharing, nice shots. love the lens I bought it late last year, not easy to use for run and gun stuff i do though Really slowed me down trying to nail the AF using manual peeking, hopefully Fujis 33mm F1 AF version not far away.
Elias Pap start saving now! 🤑😂
Dude, great video! Looking forward for upcoming content! 🌴🤘
Thanks Elazar! Appreciate it so much :)
Can i know, why you move to XT 3 from XH 1 ? does XH 1 still good for now?
XH-1 is a beast of a camera, there are only some big difference between them. XT-3 has no IBIS, the Xh-1 does. XT-3 got 4k60p 10bit, Xh-1 only has 4k30p. So the xh-1 is still good ;)
I mainly switched over for the video features. The IBIS was nice but I like to have natural looking camera shake + 4K 60p. In terms of photography I love the XH1.
Can you make some presets for capture one please?
I really love your videos. Thanks for sharing. I am willing to buy a XT-3 as well and your videos are motivating me to bet on that camera :) ;) I loved the chest stabilizer :)
Really nice lens I would like to try but here in Germany its quite expensive in my opinion. 300-400 €.
Hello Mitch, did you used this lens for professional work like weedings or events? I'm concerned about the manual focus speed capabilities. What's your opinion about it? Ty
Vincent Portais mate to be honest this is a lens I would whip out on a wedding ONLY during the portrait session for a FEW creative shots. Its not a lens I would try to capture split second moments with. YOU’re not going to have a good time. For that you need a solid reliable autofocus lens. This one is a fun one for travel snaps, portrait work where you can take your time and maybe even fashion/product photography where you don’t need to be in a rush.
@@MitchLally you confirm what I was thinking, thank you for your reply! I appreciate
You should press dsp again to show live view and zoomed focus.
what's dsp?
@@kingdavidchong @5:39 dsp =display. You can press it a couple of times to show different display like horizon, info etc.
@@jackofblades6736 thanks for the tip!
@@kingdavidchong np. Make sure it's on manual focus for it to work.
awesome video, awesome lens ;)! cheers!
gorgeous
Nice shots and video! thanks for sharing.
JoeBoy thanks!
Great lens, it's my go-to lately
Rent a bmpcc4k and do a video test with one of your models for us please :D between it and the X-T3 using your Luts.
I think I'm doing this in a few weeks.
Wowww loved this video! I was doing research end of last year because I was curious if there were any lenses with anything less than f1.2, so this blew me away! Literally such beautiful bokeh. Did you use an ND filter? Because I can’t imagine how bright it’s be without one when filming in the correct shutter. Sounds like a great lowlight lens, but once again the manual focus has restraints. Love your colour grading, so stunning!
ELIZABETH thank you for the comment :) yeah I did not use an ND filter for this shoot but I usually do. I don’t really care too much about ‘correct’ shutter speed but I try to keep it low-ish in bright conditions.
nice lens! pretty expensive in Turkey.
Awesome review and video. Thanks for this!
Joni Abando thanks for watching
wait do you not use focus peaking
I only wanted to know if focus peaking works with this lens, or with any non-native lens
It works with my telescope for astro 🙂
