I really enjoyed hearing more of your story. And I wanted to let you know that I’m a lefty, and when I decided to make learning crochet my Covid activity, I was so happy to find your left-handed tutorials! I learned to knit right handed, but I could not figure it out for crochet! So thank you so much for putting all the great content out there. It’s much appreciated. And keep the chit-chat videos coming. Happy to see you living real life with your adorable new addition. Congratulations!
Congrats on your new sweet baby. I have 4 girls and it is wonderful. I learned to crochet in 1970 when. was 12 years old. Yes, I am an older viewer of your channel. For many years, crocheting seemed to be something only old women did and while I did the odd project here and there, I would go for very long periods without crocheting anything. Then in 2013, I became chronically ill and found myself home all the time. So I picked my hook back up and off I went. What a pleasant surprise to find so many young people getting into crochet and so many RUclips videos! I guess it's the old saying what's old is new again. I am enjoying all the beautiful yarns available nowadays and all the wonderful colors. My New Year's resolution for this year is to finish all my WIPS. I am down to 3 I am very happy to say. One baby blanket, one mini solid granny afghan and a pair of mittens. Once those are done, I will start on a starburst afghan for my couch. I am going to try to stick to one project at a time as I feel stressed when I have so many going on at once.
My story is very much like yours. I returned to crochet when I became disabled in 2016. I’m 63 now. It’s nice to run across someone, on these channels, that you have common life events. Nice to meet you. 🌹
@@anitaashley8946 Hi Anita. Nice to meet you to. I am also 63 and my name is Vicki. I have been married for 44 years now, have 4 daughters and 4 granddaughters and 3 grandsons. I also have the misfortune to live in California, but we are setting our sights on Arizona once my husband can retire. Please tell me about yourself. As for me, I worked at our local water district and had been planning to work until I was 70 and then retire, however, things didn't work out that way, unfortunately. So I try to keep busy with crocheting, playing the harp and I am a soapmaker. I had to close my soap business in 2009 though as I just couldn't keep up with it and work my job at the same time. I grew up in Pennsylvania and back then, mostly only old ladies crocheted and most of them were from the eastern European countries. They did very beautiful and intricate work. However, it was not very cool for a young woman to be crocheting. We had no RUclips or anything like that and generally the older generations would teach the younger, but my family was not easter European and so I really had no one to teach me. My mother dabbled in crochet on occasion, but isn't the crafty type. She showed me how to make a chain and do single crochet and then handed me a little book about how to crochet and that is where I learned most of my crocheting from. My husband's family is Czech, but the women in his family were fairly elderly by the time I came onto the scene so I didn't get to learn much from them either. I have been self taught my whole life. I was happy to find RUclips channels about crochet and I was even happier to find that I was a whole lot better at crocheting than I gave myself credit for. I used to think I was pretty bad at it because I was self taught. Ok enough about me. Please do tell me about yourself.
@@storybookstitchery1115 Vicki, it was great to hear from you. My friends call me Nita. It’s a long story. You may be sorry you asked. Lol. My husband and I married when we were 17 & 19 years old. In the next 5 years, we had one son and 3 years later, we had a daughter. My husband worked in oil field related jobs, back when oil field was booming. After we had been married 18 years, my husband suffered a brain aneurysm. They gave him very little chance of surviving. He had brain surgery to clip the leaking artery in his brain. He was in the hospital for months , he was in a coma for 10 days before he woke up, pulling ventilator out. He went thru 2 years of relearning to walk, talk, eat, drink, and basically went thru everything you learn from a baby on. During this 2 years, I had to quit my job and give him 24 hour care. We knew he was not going to be able to work again so I had to be the breadwinner. After the 2 years, he was able to care for himself and was even able to drive again. I was inspired by one of his nurses, who explained everything to me and gave me hope. She became my best friend, while we lived in hospital. I had an awesome Mom who cared for my kids at 14 and 17 years old. I stayed with my husband about 22 out of 24 hours while he rehabilitated in a Rehab, closer to home. I was inspired by this nurse to go back to school and become a nurse, which I did. I was even valedictorian of my class and I loved loved loved nursing. My husband was in and out of hospitals for various things throughout the years. I worked at same hosp during most of that time so that was nice. They always put him on my unit so I could be with him and still work. Because of his mental deficits, he deteriorated slowly and became more and more dependent on me. This was throughout the next 18 years. Then he fell, which he did from time to time, hit his head and we had to take him off life support the next day because he had suffered a massive brain bleed. The last 6 months of his life, he had heart attack, had to have stents in heart and kidneys. He also had to have surgery to repair abdominal aortic aneurysm. After all this, he died anyway. We had been married 36 years and he was the Love of my Life. I loved him more and more everyday, despite the personality changes and mental condition. I started crocheting while he was in hosp with pneumonia, 5 years after brain surgery. I took leave of absence from work and was always with him at hospitalizations and so I needed something to do, at his bedside. I bought a book to teach myself. I only crocheted for a year or two and then found I had to give it up because I was either working or taking care of him. When he died I went thru major depression and worked 60-80 hours a week to stay busy. I did this for years then I started having a lot of back pain and became disabled due to spinal stenosis in 2016. I can no longer work and have back and leg pain everyday but I did go back to crocheting a few years ago and I truly believe God led me back to it and it has made my world so much better. I crochet everyday, for hours and hours. I had to move to OKC when I became disabled, closer to my daughter, because now I need help with a lot of things. I have 6 grandchildren(4 boys,2 girls). The oldest is 24 and youngest is 16. I also have my great granddaughter, Attie, who has brightened my world. She lives 2 hours away but I see her for Atleast a few days every month or so. She turned one year old in May. I’m sorry this was so long. Please stay in touch. ♥️💥🙏🏻🌈🎉
YAY for you. It's such a precious, demanding, exciting, tiring & intense time for you and your family. Managing to get out of your PJ's is a winning day. ⭐
I enjoyed this video so much. You have a very beautiful daughter. Congratulations. Thank you so much for letting your crochet followers get a glimpse of your family life.
A great video, so nice to see you in your home and crocheting with your daughter by your side, makes the world a better place! I am naturally left handed, but crochet right handed as my grandmother taught me, who was right handed. I find it easy to do, so any lefties struggling, try it the other way, may work out better. Lovely to see you back Bella Coco 😘
Hi great to see you back how cute is Everleigh Anthony is well out numbered in your house lol. I have crotchet 3 full size blankets this year using the minute a mile pattern it has helped keep my mind occupied with everything that has been going on. I would love to do your strawberry pattern. I watched all of your day to day vlogs and loved them all can't wait for the next update on your house renovation.
Such a sweet blessing to see you crochet with your baby. The baby stage is so busy and demanding, but sooooo precious and it goes so quickly. I'm sure the demands of motherhood and your crochet business are tough to manage at times, but I'm glad you've gotten over trying to make everyone happy. You are a great inspiration to my 12 year old daughter who loves to crochet. Thanks for all you put into your videos!
Welcome back, congratulations on the birth of your beautiful daughter and thanks for the videos from a lefty who has learnt to crochet from your left handed tutorials! My mam, who is not a lefty, has also learned from your tutorials, she's in her 70s and only started to crochet in the last couple of years. Thanks for all that you do to share your skills and knowledge, and I look forward to seeing your book next year!
Congrats 🎉 on the adorable addition to your family! Loved this video. I didn’t know how to crochet when I had my son - I can’t imagine crocheting when he was 8 weeks old. He constantly wanted me to hold him 😁 he loves strawberries and will make one for him once you release the pattern. He’s now 9 and I learned to crochet about 4 years ago.
Thank you for sharing more about yourself. You made that look very easy, balancing crocheting, a new baby and making a video! Congrats for your love and determination to share your crochet skills with us. And Everleigh is so cute!!
Hi Sarah-Jayne! Fun video. I’ve been out of the loop a lot this last month traveling, family issues etc. Everleigh is adorable! So nice to see her in the video! Love the strawberry! The Italian in me appreciates it!😄. I learned something new! You are getting mighty close to the 1 million mark! I’m watching! Very exciting! I liked your day in the life vlogs too but there are just so many hours in a day! Do what you are comfortable doing and always make sure to take time for yourself. It’s so important. Funny thing about cooking. When my kids were little I didn’t enjoy it but I would say I was a good cook. I’d make a nice meal and they’d prefer cereal, lol. When we became empty nesters both my husband and I got into cooking and really enjoy it now. Although after me working all day, my husband does most of it. He’s now retired after being on disability. So you never know! We also love to go out to dinner too but frankly, too much of it and it gets old. This is coming from me who was away from home almost a month and eating out every night. There is something to be said for a nice home cooked meal. I’m glad Anthony likes it! That’s a nice balance. And if you never like it, so what? You do you!💗🌺🌸💗
Hi Thea thank you for taking the time to comment, we are all certainly different and have different views on life but as long as we are true to ourselves that is the main thing. :)
The strawberry is so cute! Can picture a basketful of them. Everleigh Rose is so sweet and such a pretty name. I bet she and Ella will be great friends as sisters. 💗💗

Welcome back, and congratulations on your new baby. Thanks for such a wonderful human video tutorial, it’s so nice to feel the personal connection you make with us all. I’ve decided to treat myself to a six month subscription to the beautiful crochet society box, and am looking forward to finishing my starburst blanket. Keep up the good work and thank you x
Congratulations on your new family member , she is a cutie. I like watching stich and project tutorials. Right now I am still a follow the pattern type of person and hoping to get to the point on combining stitch5and techniques so I can produce personalized products. I am doing hats and scarfs and blankets to donate to charites. Thank you for all that you do.
I really enjoyed this style of video my Lovely, I was crocheting along with but i was making a donkey ! How you manage to juggle everything amazes me , remember to take good care of yourself chick xxx
Hello from NZ, love your videos as I'm still learning to read patterns but getting better thanks to your crochet society boxes. Two kids are alot more work than one so take time to rest as its so draining.
Yey! Nice to see you back. Baby Is beautiful 💕My sister is due in 3 weeks can’t wait. Can you do a pattern and video for baby clothes like dresses and cardigans? Too could do it as a set to go with the blankets 😆❤️
I missed your live, but it’s so nice to see you, you have been missed 😊, I just want to say you are looking amazing, totally different experience all together when you had Ella 🥰, I can’t remember the name of the therapy you did prior to having Everleigh but wow I’m assuming it helped you loads with the things you were concerned about, Everleigh is just Gorgeous 🥰💞
Sarah Jayne you look very well, and looked so relaxed with baby by your side,Everleigh is beautiful, lovely to see you back, just received my latest crochet society box today with pink flamingo, beautiful box . Please would you do more with turquoise(blue) colour, also can we have a unique pincushion or a holder for our scissors, darn needles and hooks to be all in place while we working in a project. Thanks dear, stay safe, take care, much love xxx
That's me- @pastelgal02! I was so happy to see you answer a question from li'l ol' me! LOL! Thanks so much! I totally understand your limited time with everything. No pressure whatsoever! Btw, I was never bored with your weekly vlogs!
Congratulations on the birth of your beautiful little girl. May her life be filled with love laughter good health happiness and wealth. To be surrounded by a strong family and good friends to support and advice her through her life. Please only when you have the time could you show how best to join willow squares and a border for them . Thanks x
Can you make a video explaining how to write our own crochet patterns like the ones in your journal? I made a doily pattern but I want to dive deeper and make more of my own patterns.
I have a really good question for you. I don’t know if you have addressed it before. In your patterns you chain then turn. I’ve got into the habit of turning then chaining. Do you think it makes a difference? What is your opinions on this?

I love your left handed videos…they are what re-taught me crocheting at the age of 71 years. Please keep them coming🥰
Will do :)

Nice, mine was on the 24th. Two days before you posted. Happy 4 months.
Emily is gorgeous. I have a one year old great granddaughter so I’m really into babies, and although she is getting very opinionated and she thinks she’s the boss(and to be honest, she is-lol) she is the Sunshine of my life. At my age, 63, you really appreciate their presence in your life and know how quickly they grow up. Enjoy every second. Time flies. So good to see you back. Thoroughly thoroughly enjoyed this video. Crochet and crochet chat along with seeing a beautiful baby. You're spoiling us 😅💗🥰😘❤

Hi I will appreciate some patterns that will use less wool.I'm doing blankets that's 1metre square. Try to do 400g wool .Its for charity. Thank you.
I have a really good question for you. I don’t know if you have addressed it before. In your patterns you chain then turn. I’ve got into the habit of turning then chaining. Do you think it makes a difference? What is your opinions on this?
It comes down to personal preference and makes no big difference in my opinion 😊
Congratulation
Thank you :)
