When you said low melee damage I was not expecting that. I always read the entirety of your descriptions but holy fuck that is some miserable melee damage.
Yeah the damage surprises me. They literally gave it a 100 cost heat hawk as a primary weapon, other than the cooldown being lower and it having amazing combo modifier.
As a Thunderbolt fan, I am pleased to see that it even has ranged weapons seeing as it didn't originally use any. From my experience in using it, it's very fun and it can get some solid plays in, however it's durability and lack of range on the melee weapons are a huuuuuge issue. I can live with the low damage because I'm good act accumulating damage, but the suit doesn't even make it easy to use those melee weapons without the average opportunity for punishment than most raids. Not only would forcing myself to get closer create more openings for the enemy, but it's lack of range messes with the game too. In the past three days of playing this MS, my melee priority has been broken through by General units a total of 17 times so far. Yes, I have an awful habbit of keeping trying of the bull this game hands me lol. Yes, in some occasions the game can get wonky and your melee priority can get broken anyway due to the cursed peer to peer connection we must all endure in this game, but in the PZ MKII you endure it way more than the average Raid due to how short the melee weapons are. Mind you, the heat hawks it uses in the manga are actually longer, but let's just chock it up to the authors artstyle for now. Due to it's short range and the fact that most Generals at 500 use beam sabers, they tend to have the latency advantage over you, especially when they hit you from your left or right side, even if you swing in those directions. The only angle in which such an occurrence isn't as common is when they're right in your face, but if you slash at the enemy General with the base of your heathawk, your chances of your priority being broken is still high. Due to this, even if it doesn't actually have negative-phantom-range like the Byarlant Custom Beam Saber, the latency makes it into a technicality, depending on the connection of who you're fighting. Don't even get me and my friends started on how janky of a skill offense system can be. I genuinely can't tell if it doesn't activate because of a game issue or a latency issue. All I know is that half of the time it works and half of the time it doesn't. 70% of my bad engagements in this unit have occurred due to some sort of latency issue. The other 30%? Teammates who won't bunch up enough for me to get my combos off, lol. Personally, I'm stumped on how they should fix this thing. If the game was perfectly stable, I'd be happy with it, but it's left in a very rocky state due to how unstable and unpredictable latency can be. One moment you're about to land a hit on a General as they swing at the same time as you, the next you're scratching your head, carefully observing game clips to figure out what exactly went wrong. Yes, they could just give it better defense and damage and call it a day, but it's engagements will still be frustrating to some extent as long as latency works against it. My fix? Make the heat hawks "manga accurate" in length or give it some phantom range. If the game wasn't janky I'd give the suit an 8/10, but until we get some fix to the latency or a significant buff that also improves the range, I'm going to have to leave it with a 7/10. In the matches where I haven't seen any lag, this suit does everything I ask it too and does it well despite the weaknesses, but I have just as many good games as I have bad games in that suit and most of the time those bad games are riddled with fluctuating latency problems.
With this in mind however, it does bring out a speck of irony. The slower units at 300 and below have an easier time hitting their heat hawks than the high cost unit with double heat hawks. For obvious reasons? Of course, but it's still super ironic.
I agree. Offence System is kinda weird for fast melee attacks like this because of latency. Basically the way it works is that if they shoot you while you are in a melee animation on your screen, but that info hasn't been sent to their screen, you will get stunned as if offence system doesn't exist. It seems more consistent on suits with longer melee animations such as Dijeh SE-R or NT-D Unicorn Gundam.

If they were to fix it, I think they'd have to give it a level of offense system that enhances the length of the stun resistant. Make it last one second as opposed to roughly 0.5 seconds. That would at least help juuuuuuust a little bit.
Bandai decided to go 'screw it' and released a demon with power acc, HA, melee controller 3, 145 walkers, 225 boost speed, a gun that stuns in like 12 bullets and has considered fast fire rate, etc, etc. Ah yes, the smell of kampfer, scrum galluss and fear, all in the palm of our ps controllers.
It’s like a gallus that traded off its ridiculously quick kill combo and passive manoeuvre armor for some instant staggers and two melee weps. Both fill different roles for raids imo
TBH it doesn't powercreep it. This thing lacks the instant kill burst damage that Schzurum Galluss gets and doesn't have the weird lack of thrust. I think I would have to say that this Psycho Zaku MKII is kind of mid tier among the 500 cost raids. Titania and Nightseeker Space Type are both far stronger. I was playing Sniper II WD earlier and could snap the legs of Psycho MKII with just two shots.
Me: watching you dash right at Kapool "huh Maybe adding as much hp and leg armor as possible is the way to go" Me watching you hit kapool 10 times for lackluster damage and he backs up out of the attack strings "ah thats why I focus melee damage instead"
Is it bad that I came up with a config nearly close to this after getting the first 4 steps of tuning done? Good lord my brother in GBO2.... Great round nonetheless.
And you won’t be seeing them at all this week. This thing is just a monstrous mobility unit there no support in the 500 category that will survive a round with this beast in play. Unless you have you get lucky and get good teammates that will cover you.
Yeah I don't think anybody wants to risk fighting an all raid team of people trying out the new banner suit. It felt like pretty normal teams when I played 500 cost today though.

Man the Psycho Zaku does shit load of damage at 500, Had Melee Defense 3 and 2 and had one just destroy my Health with a full Dual Axe combo as a General with around 30 Melee defense, I haven't seen a Buff for it maybe it's people who went full melee damage
I have a feeling that we will get some more. This thing has a variant with armour and some weapons from the destroyed Full Armor Gundam, and there are some grunts like Ground Gundam and Bull-G to add.
A decent flanker and punisher looks like. But those short reaches, low melee damage make it a target for tackle city especially against reliable teammates that have their eyes open. Something like this unit would be have benefitted from stealth so much
I feel stupid for having passed on this suit. I hate about 80% of all Thunderbolt designs, and I saw this as just another TB MS with an overly bombastic playstyle to match Thunderbolt's overly bombastic overall style. I suppose it didn't help that I didn't really encounter any in queues, so I couldn't really gauge its speed, but I love high speed raids. I guess I'll just have to get lucky.
this thing is busted overtuned as fuck busted as hell it makes punchy gallus look tame honestly i mean your grenade stuns and can be tossed while boosting and you have the bazooka mg grenade and the mg has insanely good build stun this thing is terrifying
TBH it seems busted at first glance but the melee damage stops it from being op. It has basically absolutely 0 burst damage, it needs to do long combos to do the same damage that other raids do in quick combos.

I finally got it and it's a "strong" raid held back a lot by terrible melee damage and the curse of all zaku suits THE STUBBY AF HEAT AXE.

I haven't played MP Guncannon in quite a while but I do remember it being fun. I might try it out with an overtune shooting build for 450 or 500 cost.

I'd prefer if they didn't give stealth abilities to suits with charge up heavy melee attacks.
Most people backslide out of melee combos. Not with this monster especially with that 4 piece.

The Melee damage is gross, it will be tough to move in and deal with a support with defenses like that and low damage output

It’s honestly not that bad, the worst I’ve seen it do is one combo someone in a 1v1, but that will rarely happen in 5v5 match
TBH I think it needs a slight buff. Buff the base damage on the melee weapons by like +200 or +250, then it has some actual burst damage.
