I have to agree with DecisiveRaindrop. The Zaku is the first mobile suit to show up in the franchise and in terms of icon status, it's like the Tie Fighter of the Gundam universe. If I were explaining Star Wars ships to someone, I would start with the icons first, like the Tie, X wing, Star Destroyer, Millennium Falcon, etc.
Well done, the research done into this is quite substantial and many of them you wont find in the wiki (Im an editor at Gundam Wiki). Im quite impressed by your first video of a new IP, MetaNerdz, keep the Gundam train going! Some of the things you didnt cover over was the company that made (most of) them which is Zeonic. Also, the MS-06 line is specifically the Zaku 2 because the Zaku 1 is the MS-05. However, the Zaku 2 is so famous that when one says Zaku, it refers to the MS-06. A few of the more famous variants you didnt cover were the High Mobility types, there are quite alot but the ones everyone knows is the R and the R2 (distinguishable by their legs) which are exclusively piloted by aces, one of which is Shin Matsunaga and Johnny Ridden. Also, many Zeon MS technologies were tested on the MS-06 platform, the biggest expression of this would be the Psycommu Zaku piloted by a Newtype test pilot. Some interesting, but impirtant things to always remember in the UC timeline is thay canonicity is in this order of importance, from greatest to least: Movies>Series>OVA>Manga/MSV/Novel>Games The MSG trilogy movie is higher canon over the original televised series. This matters because of designs like the Core Booster where its a different design for both, but in this case, the aerodynamic looking one is higher canon. Gundam Thunderbolt is an alternate parallel timeline of mainline UC, nothing in there is canon. Gundam the Origin is basically a new canon that is still being carved out, to relate to Star Wars, The Origin is like Canon while everything outside of it but within the premise of the One Year War would be considered Legends, but usually only applies when there are points in the timeline that are inconsistent. Here are some pronounciation guides (Im not a grammarnazi, dont worry): Char - shar, same as shot Ridden - ride-den, the word 'ride', then 'den' Minovsky - mee-novs-ski, same as you would pronounce Tomino just without the To- and add -ovsky
Dude, in UC, you can't put all the movies in a canon-pedestal above all else. If you do, that makes Zeta New Translation trilogy more Canon than TV series. That's just silly. The TV series is the greater canon for UC.
@@androyus TLDR the example you cited is invalid for your argument because its not even in any way canon because its an alternate telling of Zeta marketed as a bridge to CCA for new and non Gundam fans. I established that canonicity order as a sort of guide and not an absolute rule due to how japanese dont view canonicity the same way as westerners would, theyre not as stringent on not following established lore. The Movies are usually the higher canon, case and point, MSG Unicorn. The Anime has canonicity over the Novels sinply because it is the Anime. Moreover, evidence for higher movie canonicity is in the design of the Core Booster/G-fighter (0079 trilogy and 0079 series, respectively), both have exact same roles in story & plot but in later lore we see that the Core Booster design is consistently used, like in 08th MS Team. The New Translation was SPECIFICALLY a rewrite from the beginning and also when it was announced due to it being meant as a way for a wide audience (specifically new and non Gundam fans) to bridge the 0079 Trilogy with CCA, skipping ZZ. Nobody should consider New Translation as UC-canon. Same for Gundam Thunderbolt, which is another parallel timeline to UC where many elements are similar but was not specifically far from original UC canon but then it went and kept doing its own thing.
@@JosephJoboLicayan My point is: since Gundam is Japanese work, we also need to view & understand them like the Japanese do. If they're lenient on canonicity then we should too. Also, Unicorn is an OVA series like Gundam 0083 & Origin. Not technically movies.

Sweet, nice gundam stuff. An interesting thing you could get into is the justification for a lot of the technical stuff in gundam, which is rather thought out. How the minovski particles disturb electomagnetic waves making closer (as in within visual range, instead of lightseconds away) as well as the design of the O’Neal style colony.
One interesting note is that, in the process of dropping the colony in Operation British, they missed, by a lot. They were aiming for the Federation's main base in South America, but (IIRC because of Federation efforts to stop them) they would up destroying Sydney and turning a big chunk of Australia into a new gulf. I think this is a reference to the ACTUAL space-station that fell on Australia in 1979, which was a chunk of Skylab.
I just got into this series seriously and while sitting with a few gunpla on my desk decided to look up some videos. LO AND BEHOLD! One of my favorite youtubers have a video on the freaking Zaku II! Good day!
@MetaNerdz Lore You said that the Zaku II is a game changer, but that was only half the equation. The other half was the Minovsky Particles. These particles disrupts long range detection and tracking and communication, greatly reducing the effectiveness of radar and infra-red long range detection (radar was reduced by to WW2 range and capabilities) . This reverts the way of war back to near line-of-sight combat, was is why mobile suit were created. As they offered more mobility, armor, and firepower that of the jet fighters. It is these 2 elements that made the Zeon forces unstoppable in the beginning of the One-Year War.
Is it wrong to imagine Darth Vader in the Zaku II High Mobility Type [ Reuse "P" Device ] ? It's arguably the strongest variant of the Zaku II from the One Year War, and its Reuse P ( Psycho ) Device requires the pilot to have all four limbs as prosthetics, which Darth Vader already has covered.
Awesome Job. I was hoping that you’d make Gundam videos someday. Can’t wait till more are out! Keep it up! 👍😁 Please some time do a video for the Strike Gundam and the G Weapons Project from Gundam Seed.

Leave it to metanerdz to create a new meta. Definitely happy to see you guys make these moves. Especially smart to grab new viewers with a broader range of content while RUclips has a large influx of traffic due to the virus keeping most at home without much to do and all that.
Star Born Michael Hall mobile suits have speed, agility and the ability to fight at both long and close range at the same time. I want to say star wars would be good on the ground but bad in air or space. A mobile suit can close a distance pretty quickly in space and avoid point defenses if the pilot is good and the mobile suit is good. If you have a newtype, the equivalent to a jedi, and a gundam, then space fights are one sided.
@@kimbertactpro9 I doubt star wars would fair better on the ground. Take a battle of krayt for instance. The F.O. lined up all of their walkers in a single line. A single mobile suit could just come in a kick one over and the others would literally fall like dominos. Beam weapons also would penetrate the durasteel armor rather easily. So no, star wars would fare poorly against mobile suits. In space they'd be even better. Mobile suits are routinely shown to outfly point defense weapons and can turn faster than fighters.
@@kerosoldier Yeah, they would be a game changer for sure but not quiet as much given that they would do diddly squat against Star Wars capitol ships, they are on a whole other level above the warships in Gundam (but to be fair, the ships in Gundam are far more realistic). Also not sure how much better Universal Century beam weapons would be against Star Wars tech. Beam weapons in Gundam are pretty new tech and behave more like how real first gen particle beam teach would while blasters in Star Wars are a robust and developed tech and are quite powerful for there size. Han's blaster pistol was blowing fist sized chunks out of the walls of the space port he was in (yes it was rigged to fire more powerful shots but it still goes to show what just a handgun sized weapon can do) and medium turbo lasers on a star destroyer can can flash melt an 90 meter wide asteroid which would put them at the low end of around 5 kilotons per shot (assuming mostly rock) to fatman level if they're nickle-iron. Given the size difference, heavy turbo lasers would be in the 5 to 20 megaton range!
@@TheRyujinLP the gramp's Gundam rifle can blow away a musai in one shot. The twin buster rifle itself would annihilate anything and it has a massive range. There are dozens of gundams that have weaponry that could take out an isd. Then there are suits that are perfect for taking out fighters, the zabanya, the gadelazza, heavy arms, legend, providence, akatsuki, all could decimate tie fighters and weaken capital ships. Then you have other suits that are designed for heavy assault. Gundams vs. Star wars would not be a fair fight in favor of the gundams
Glad to see you Gundam content. A Legendary franchise consisting of many universes. I would love if you continued to do more of this. Especially if you do Federation Suits like the RGM Series.
Hello! This video is a great look at the iconic Zaku II from the Mobile Suit Gundam franchise. I hope you continue this type of breakdown, and I would surely love to see a AMS-119 "Geara Doga" and AMS-129 "Geara Zulu" breakdown, these two are successor units of the Zaku II and were used extensively by Neo-Zeon forces and remnant groups of the late Universal Century timeline. I hope to see more Gundam lore in your channel, in the mean time I would be exploring your Star Wars lore breakdowns! :D
SOOOOOOOO glad to see some gundam love! Really hope we get some more over time. One minor correction though. The "atmospheric flight" type you showed was actually a "Gouf", which we all know is indeed "NO ZAKU BOY. NO ZAKU!!"
That's the good stuff I'm looking for in Gundam, just technical facts, no Newtype theory involved, good video man, looking forward to see some more mobile suits or battle tactics breakdowns
I like how your expanding into other mediums now. You two choices are on point. But dont let me catch you putting a gouf into this class again. "IT'S NO ZAKU, BOY!" You'll discover why.
Very great video, I honestly expected you to talk about the Minovsky reactor more, and how it disrupts any low frequency wavelengths. And makes any unprotected com devices useless. And how it changed combat to close combat weaponry as even smart missiles were useless because it wouldn't be feasible to protect the unboard computer that guides it even when seperated from any low frequency guiding. Basically a fusion reactor that naturally creates an ecm, Electronic Counter Measures, field for kilometres/miles depending on output. Maybe an idea for another follow up video.
Clearly its going to be a long time till the next star wars series so I am super glad you are covering this series that I enjoy too. Excellent presentation on the zaku since there are so many varients and keep it up the good work.

Some interesting, but impirtant things to always remember in the UC timeline is thay canonicity is in this order of importance, from greatest to least:
Movies>Series>OVA>Manga/MSV/Novel>Games
The MSG trilogy movie is higher canon over the original televised series.
Here are some pronounciation guides (Im not a grammarnazi, dont worry):
Char - shar, same as shot
Ridden - ride-den, the word 'ride', then 'den'
Minovsky - mee-novs-ski, same as you would pronounce Tomino just without the To- and add -ovsky
MetaNerdz needs to do more mobile suits. Any vehicle, craft, ship, weapon or mech: including mobile suits.
Honestly, you really should make more Gundam stuff! It really suits your channel style!!
if ever you need more reference, what Kakarot197 as he makes history of gundam development
Edit: When are you making more Gundam videos?
Just a request, please make a break down of ships starting with the white base and the Pegasus class, not many make those
Metanerdz making Gundum content
A surprise , to be sure , but a welcome one!
Where did clips like 6:02 come from. I know those are the 40th anniversary designs, but I've never known of anything outside of the promotional RX78 and Char Aznabele gunpla
Looking back, you missed the part where one of the reasons Zaku II used external energy pipe was to improve heat dissipation, a simple way to solve the over heating problem present on the Zaku I
Love seeing breakdowns of equipment from the Gundam universe.
Gundam playlist: 1 video
those are rookie numbers, we gotta bump those numbers up
Awesome breakdown! I have love for the Zaku, but the RX-79[G] Ez-8 is one of my all time favs. Glad to see your are branching out to other genres. You are still my go to for Star Wars ship breakdowns and explanations.
I mean he can do a breakdown of the Gundam Ground Types.
With the Ez8, Slave Wraith, Blue Desitinys etc. O:
I honestly can't stop coming back and watching this
Thanks were trying to figure out how to do more of them another person wrote and edited it but I'm hoping
This is my first time on your channel. I thought only Kakarot197 did gundam documentaries. This is awesome.
Were there any documentaries on the Gouf, or the Doms/Rick Doms?
Nevermind, I looked through as far back as I could and this is the only Gundam video I could find. Such a shame. Maybe some other time then.
FINALLY! I never knew until now that I was waiting for this!
Well thats unexpected, never expected see Gundam related from your channel especially I'm already a fan of Gundam since around late 90s or early 2000s.
YESSS GUNDAM TOO? Effin love you guys
you are good at making gundan lore keep it up dude
ガンダムは後付けでどんどん設定が変わってる上に変更前の設定も生き続けるのでかなりカオスなことになっています
本当に正しい理解をしている者は直撃世代にしかいないと断言できます
Glad to see you branching out seemed like you were starting to run low on star wars and I love your videos
Awesome! I’d love to see more Mobile Suit Gundam videos!
I love mobil suit gundam, I super the zaku 2, and I love lore. ^^ I was never going unsubscribe from this channel, however now I wish I had extra money to support the channel more.
Yes, yes, more gundam content.
AH Gundam my favorite franchise
Sweet, nice gundam stuff. An interesting thing you could get into is the justification for a lot of the technical stuff in gundam, which is rather thought out. How the minovski particles disturb electomagnetic waves making closer (as in within visual range, instead of lightseconds away) as well as the design of the O’Neal style colony.
Dude I'm loving how you are branching into other sci fi universes
Yes PLEASE do more!
I love the variable shoulder plate design. Now I want to draw a Zaku as well.
METANERDZ GOIN GUNDAMU
NOICE
Good day!
The MS-06F Zaku II
is my favorite UC Mobile Suit
I have been waiting for so long for you to take a crack at the Gundam franchise. This is glorious!
YESSSSS!! You love Gundam too? If anyone was going to do in depth vids about Gundam it would be you thanks bro.
This is one of the best Gundam videos I have seen. Amazing job
Thanks I have more planned from episode summary to units
@MetaNerdz Lore
You said that the Zaku II is a game changer, but that was only half the equation.
Block the enemies line of sight and sensors. Get in close with a big fucking gun and an ax and MURDER THEIR SHIT
The RGM-79 ‘GM’s main weapon was a beam spray gun, which has a higher power requirement than what most MS-06’s can meet. Very minor thing
Awesome Job. I was hoping that you’d make Gundam videos someday. Can’t wait till more are out! Keep it up! 👍😁
Please some time do a video for the Strike Gundam and the G Weapons Project from Gundam Seed.
Please cover the Rx-78 next whenever you get to making another Gundam Video. Also this was the video that got me into the Gundam series so it's so interesting to watch now that I know more about Gundam Lore. SIEG ZEON!
Omg thank you so much I’m going to love this gundam series and hop we get to the guncanons like the iron Calvary
Leave it to metanerdz to create a new meta. Definitely happy to see you guys make these moves. Especially smart to grab new viewers with a broader range of content while RUclips has a large influx of traffic due to the virus keeping most at home without much to do and all that.
Could you please episode breakdown on the *VF-25 Messiah* from the Macross series.
Lets hope the god of anime will finally be able to release frontier in america
@@kerosoldier yeah
I think it Macross frontier might Long year to come in USA
Considering that the Harmony Gold still alive, I doubt Macross market can enter US.
We need to destroy that cancer.
I absolutely love how Zakus kick the living crap out of stuff. So meaty.
OMFG YES KEEP DOING GUNDAM !!!!!
The Zaku would be really deadly in the Star Wars universe and honestly would outclass most imperial fighters.
I wish you did more Gundam videos. I’d love more breakdowns on them…
I wonder how Star Wars Galaxy would handly Mobile Suites?
Considering that walkers like AT-ATs and AT-TEs are pretty unmanuverable I'd say poorly
OMG FINALLY IV WAITED SO LONG FOR YOU TO EMBRACE THE WORLDS OF GUNDAM!!!! XD
I love the Zaku 2. Best villain Mobile Suit ever.
I’m quite happy that your doing Gundam lore not many channels do that.
on the battle of Loum, the Federation fleet is 6-7 times bigger than Zeon FYI
I have to say its nice to see more channels like yours going onto gundam
PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THINGS HOLY DO MORE GUNDAM. THIS WAS PHENOMENAL!
Probably the best breakdown of anything in the gundam universe! Please do more units!
OMG thank you for finally doing some mobile suit lore!!! please keep it goin! :)
SOOOOOOOO glad to see some gundam love! Really hope we get some more over time. One minor correction though. The "atmospheric flight" type you showed was actually a "Gouf", which we all know is indeed "NO ZAKU BOY. NO ZAKU!!"
A gundam video a instant like SIEG ZEON
You should also do a collab with Kakarot197, who specializes in Gundam lore.
You can’t begin to imagine how happy I am right now!
That's the good stuff I'm looking for in Gundam, just technical facts, no Newtype theory involved, good video man, looking forward to see some more mobile suits or battle tactics breakdowns
I hope you do more Gundam videos, I'd love to see an episode about one of the mobile suits from Zeta Gundam or Char's Counterattack.
I like how your expanding into other mediums now. You two choices are on point. But dont let me catch you putting a gouf into this class again. "IT'S NO ZAKU, BOY!" You'll discover why.
YES!!!!!!!
FINALLY!!! Excellent Gundam Lore!
At 2:32 "This is no Zaku boy!"
Also the Minovsky particles, stick around for about a month if I remember.
Clearly its going to be a long time till the next star wars series so I am super glad you are covering this series that I enjoy too. Excellent presentation on the zaku since there are so many varients and keep it up the good work.
Excellent Gundam videos hope there are more coming
1:17 I am now only going to measure things in char aznables now😂
Can wait for the next gundam lore already
Thanks for doing Gundam Mecha!!!
