Changing Video Resolution and it's Impacts - R5C Tips 6

- This time we're going back to basics with the R5C to look at video resolutions: how to change them, and what the impacts of the selected resolution is on your footage. Unlike the EOS R5, the EOS R5C down samples from the sensor's native resolution at the selected crop factor, for all output resolutions. This maximizes the image quality and reduces noise. However, it also means the camera has the same rolling shutter performance for a given crop mode regardless of output resolution.
If you're interested in how the EOS R5 handles video as well, this video parallels a similar video in my R5 Tips and Tricks series here: • Switching between Movi...

Thank you. New R5C user and new to video and photography. Shooting video and photos of surfing and enjoying the camera. Your tips have been very helpful.
Always such good, no-nonsense info in these vids - thanks, man!
I’ve been looking for a video like this to break down the way the sensor reads out the different codecs and how they are downsampled from the full sensor. Lots of great information! Got a sub from me 🙏🏼
You’re amazing my man thank you for all your knowledge
Thank you for your Effort.
Great video
Thank you
The R5C is still a thing of beauty. Though I am kind of always using 4k 30fps nowadays… sometimes 60fps and 120 slow&fast. But the battery life is still bugging me majorly. But I guess that's what I bought with the performance that it provides. 🙈
get a rig with PD V Mount battery and you can go crazy :)
I dont find battery life an issue. I just chuck a d-tap battery in my pocket, attach to a cage or attach to the tripod & dummy battery in the R5C and shoot all day without issues. If you want to slim down more, get a PD battery & chuck it in the pocket or any of the above.
I agree, battery life is a problem. But newer firmware is coming to improve it. I also use a cable protector and just plug in a Anker PD USB-C charger and either power the camera with that or charge it while I'm moving locations or waiting.
According to what is said here ruclips.net/video/Be2n3Ag8OqA/видео.html, about the 3 ways of managing the sensor mode, I was not able to set a custom button/dial specifically. Did I miss something ? Because a dedicated button that will allow to toggle between FullFrame and Super35 would be very convenient when you need an extra reach when you're filming
Apologies for the delay in responding, as big as Google/RUclips are, they can't seem to manage an intelligent comment management system that doesn't hold obviously non-spam comments for review.
The function you're looking for in the button customization menu is "[MENU] User Setting". It's the last entry at the bottom of the list. If you've changed it from the default, it may not say user setting, and instead may be the name of the menu entry you selected.
Unfortunately, you can't make a button that just toggles between sensor modes, but you can hit the custom button and then click a dial once to change it.
@@PointsInFocus thanks for your reply and don't worry about your delay of response, I understand totally and I know how frustrating it is to fall into spams.
OK, I'll give a try as you suggested 😃 and of course, I'll you know
