It's the same splat time as Hydra (which does 40 every 4 frames, also splatting in 12 frames), complete with 80% of the charge time and 75% of the firing time (Heavy Edit loses a second of charge time on a full charge), and a lot less range. It feels good in the training room and when it's able to do what it wants, but this thing plays within the range of weapons like Splattshot Pro, Range Blaster, and other midrange weapons that can really take advantage of it while it's trying to charge up, and since it generally has to play from midline positions, it can be challenged be things like Reefslider or simply have its feet inked by bombs much more easily than other splatlings. Having its feet inked is a real issue, since it relies entirely on its strafe speed to not immediately die.
I think they should increase charge time a good amount but then also buff strafe speed because the one thing it doesn’t do well is paint your feet so if you get hit with a splat bomb right after you’re out of charge you’re just a sitting duck

@@Kiwikairii true but incentivizing max charges more keeps it away from mini splats identity with more run and gun capabilities. More downtime between bursts and more counter play from front lines between charges.
I have noticed that this thing paints pretty badly per bullet, and that's probably the thing that's gonna keep it reined in. It has about as much range as Nautilus, but only paints about half as well and lacks the charge hold. The fire rate of full charges (and the length of time that partial charges fire for, honestly) is still gonna give this thing its own niche, but I don't think it will completely invalidate other splatlings anyway. It probably just seems that way since it's almost the only one being played right now and isn't being directly contested by the others that much lmao. You can see at 5:40 how the Ballpoint matchup can go at least
I've seen a clip showing you can get a full special 0 to 100% in one full charge with a single main of SCU, but that's in the lobby with nothing painted. Still, it doesn't really seem like special output is a problem for it
@@plasmasupremacy9321 That's mostly because the Edit probably fires the most bullets per charge unit of any splatling, but it takes a long time to charge, and even longer to actually get any paint across the floor unless you max charge. Heavy edit is one of the few weapons that would want a curling because it gets into situations where it needs quick paint to move forward. Much like roller but with a better special
That's what I was thinking. A nerf to the lower charges would make it's gimmick stand out more. I think it's range keeps it from being busted, but super strong right now especially in paint/special output.
Max fire rate is awesome, don't touch it that's the weapons identity. I think reel in the fire rate at lower charges to accentuate/incentivize it's gimmick. I think it's range keeps it away from full backline capabilities, but probably map dependent. I think it more fits in the mini and nautilus category of splatlings rather than heavy/ballpoint/hydra, and for that I think it brings a new fun option.
Agree it plays more like the nautilus than anything else same range even fire rate but slightly better of course, but yes if anything make it slower to charge or give it less spread on it 2nd mode to incentivize full charge.
It doesn't surprise me because they have been really pushing splatling into the meta for a couple of months. I can probably see it not being meta cuz Ballpoint is so strong/counters it. Maybe in more aggressive comps or replacing NZap?
I think they want it to replace zap because it now get cooler more than that weapon and has around the same kill time and even placement in team comps it’s legit a better zap.
I haven't played it in a real match yet, but its SO fun to play with and fight against with its kit! Its such a unique weapon and while its definitely a biiit overtuned (Might need to make it a five shot or slightly decrease its strafing speed or smth) it just feels VERY healthy to play around on either team. Curling is a very good mobility tool for it while not being busted on it like Fizzy or Burst would be, and it doesn't provide much offensive potential so its not like it can just chuck a bomb and then laser you like BP can. I honestly think the new slosher is a bigger problem. It’s got solid range, splats in 3 hits, and can use reef slider to cross grates at breakneck speeds. Also it has suction bomb which means you can pressure backliners if needed. Also if you jump while you slosh it more or less eliminates the end lag.

I'd say its a high damage weapon that wants to have teammates nearby to cover those weaknesses, but its a fantastic teammate to have especially with its support-inclined kit.
I don't think the heavy edit is broken, think the range is probably the biggest thing holding it back. Unlike the ballpoint which had everything this does going for it _and_ range equal to the hydra, this one is the same as nautilus while lacking the crazy mobility that's granted by the charge hold. It's also got the weakest damage per-hit of any splatling which just hurts its range even more (even the tiniest bit of falloff will turn it into a 5-6 shot kill). ...all that said though, if the mini splatling wasn't completely invalidated before, it certainly is now, lol.

Having both played the weapon and playing against it now, the only weakpoint this weapon seems to really have is its own user. As people learn this weapon more its gonna become a main staple barring any huge nerfs. I still prefer playing mini and heavy over it but the season only Just Began so we'll see how that plays out.
problem with it is, it takes a full charge for a regular brella shield (without object damage) well, in a 1 on 1 situation it needs a full charge. in team situations it'll be fine but other than that, yea no this thing is ridiculously strong
I don’t think it is too good. It’s range is very limited for a splitting being even lower than naut. Additionally you need to have a full charge to make use of the fire rate something that takes a long time, and most of the time you don’t actually need the full charge so it is hard to commit to compared to other splatlings. It’s niche just seems to be a back line with cooler when you don’t want pencil.

Everytime rollers and close range weapons are getting left behind
Having both played the weapon and playing against it now, the only weakpoint this weapon seems to really have is its own user. As people learn this weapon more its gonna become a main staple barring any huge nerfs. I still prefer playing mini and heavy over it but the season only Just Began so we'll see how that plays out.
Played it for like 4 hours yesterday, it’s actually so fun. Casually getting 20+ kills in x rank elo is maybe a little too good
That’s to Brocken the fire rate.
Heavy edit can do around 1500 damage at full chare if you hit every single shot i think, unless i counted wrong
problem with it is, it takes a full charge for a regular brella shield (without object damage)
well, in a 1 on 1 situation it needs a full charge. in team situations it'll be fine
but other than that, yea no this thing is ridiculously strong
Hm what's the song around the 6 minute mark?
When i used this splatting, it just feel like im using a reskin heavy splatting
what is the music in the background
The heavy edit might be a bit over-tuned…
I'd watch this type of gameplay for hours lol.
The heavy edit splatting feels like the Death Star laser that destroys planets
Imagine object shredder on that big bubbler would have no chance
This is easily my favorite weapon in Drizzle Season, which I Was Not Expecting
It’s fucking INSANE, you look at people & they die
I don’t think it is too good. It’s range is very limited for a splitting being even lower than naut. Additionally you need to have a full charge to make use of the fire rate something that takes a long time, and most of the time you don’t actually need the full charge so it is hard to commit to compared to other splatlings. It’s niche just seems to be a back line with cooler when you don’t want pencil.
yall flabbergasted over this heavy edits fire rate but reminder that blob got MARKER AND KRAKEN
I feel like a fair nerf would to decrease the duration of fire from a full charge, I think that would balance it without over nerfing it
The fact that they named it the heavy edit splatling makes me think were gonna get a mini and hydra version too
I think it's more just for the pun. It's already kinda like a mini version of the hydra with how it performs
@@squiddler7731not at all. As a hydra main I disagree they don’t play anything alike. I even run different gear with them because they play so drastically different.
@@squiddler7731it plays closer to the nautilus than anything else really
@@numberjuaanctr420 oh yeah, of course. I mean like it's gimmick is similar to that of the hydra, it has a longer than normal charge time and more firepower once you reach a full charge. If mini is the smaller lighter version of the heavy, then heavy edit is like the smaller and lighter version of hydra, and so having a mini and hydra version of it would be redundant.
"Splatoon has a new big problem.."
Yeah and it's called DUDE with the Heavy Edit 😂
Heavy Edit is good but Dread Wringer feels better (even though its really slow, but it could be a Slosher Bias on Crableg Capital speaking)
I like it but the only thing holding it back is the range. I think it should of had heavy range.
Is it too late to take the special away cause it's a monster with tactic cooler.
The amount of tears this thing is gonna cause is somewhat unsettling 💀
also for people that have huge brain they would have noticed that it jumps higher than other splatlings when charging
might have a couple maps and modes it does well on aqnd some it will struggle
as a main weapon i feel like i find the heavy edit worse than naut/heavy but with the kit it has this thing is kinda nuts
nintendo: lets buff brella shields to recharge quicker!
also nintendo: lets make a new weapon that shreds the shield and whoever's behind it in less than a second
A full charged heavy edit will NOT break through a brella shield even with object shredder on.
Even if you hit the entire clip and have a full charge it will not break a full HP brella shield.
nah nah this weapon is too broken, yesterday I was playing anarchy w my big sis and no way, almost every enemy team that matched with us had at least 2 edit splatings, and the players using them didn't even need to move or know how to use a real splating to play anarchy with it, my sister and I have been fans of Splatoon since the first game dropped (we know almost everything about the game), and even with all the experience we have we have never seen a weapon that counters this splatings, we were forced to use range weapons too just to pair with those splatings, you can't even get close to them because of how fast they are, they need to be nerfed 🥲
Thoughts on golden dyanamo?
I feel like the title is ironically correct.
It's going to heavily edit the way people play splatoon.
Nice pun
Thank you ✨
The way it just shreds is so satisfying! I stayed up till 2am playing it non stop haha.
This weapon is cancerous, is this what ballpoint was like on release.
I think this weapon would be ok if they nerfed the accuracy by a lot
As a hydra main and stubborn backline since Wii U, I got too comfortable with the edit too fast.
The way it killed me so fast that I thought it was a 3 shot
Edit is not busted at all. It's good but heavy, Hydra, naut, bp and good against it. You would mostly use the Edit Splatling for its kit.
maybe ive just been using it wrong but all i did was try to outrange people but couldnt, so i prefer the new ballpoint
Isn’t that music from Star Fox Assault?
Someone has taste.
Ballpoint counter?
I don't know. I was using BP against people playing the new one and butchered them because higher range
yup, can say already got splatted many times by this weapon lol
hope they fix it tho
The charge time is the one problem with the edit splatling
