I agree. Perhaps one reason is that so many Czechs are themselves very modest and underestimate their own talents. In an age when self-promotion is the order of the day, I find such modesty very refreshing.
This suite for string orchestra is rarely played for some unknown reason, it's such great music. Quite different from Janacek's usual style but as always some really beautiful melodies - thanks for the upload have not heard it for some time and wonderful to be reacquainted again
A wonderful early work with Moravian folk tunes apparent. Lovingly presented by the great Honeck and his Pittsburgh Symphony. A work i have never heard, but it is so fine that you love it on first hearing. Bravo
This is my favorite performance of this piece. I've loved it for years, will love it for many years to come. I believe this is how early Janacek should be performed.
Have loved this work by the great Janacek ever since I first heard it many years ago. Rarely performed, it seems, which is ridiculous - why? Thank you Manfred Honeck and the wonderful Pittsburgh S.O.
A lovely suite, if not vintage Janacek. Had I heard the first Adagio out of context I could have believed it was Wagner - it certainly starts out that way.
et pourtant les gens aiment. tout le monde n'a pas une culture musicale orthodoxe. les brutaliser avec un commentaire lapidaire et déprimant n'aide personne.
It does happen that orchestras go outside of their country to perform you know. It's called a tour. They just happen to play at the Philharmonie. The Berlin Phil is not the only orchestra playing there all year long. There are about 2-3 concerts every day in different halls. Chamber, solo piano and also orchestra.
Czech music is very underrated! Very magnicifent work! It's too bad this hasn't gotten more recognition.
So true

Adagio: 13:48
Andante: 18:26
Thank you! Not sure why the poster didn't do this.
Thank you because the time stamps help me to find parts that I want to hear

Janacek ne ressemble à personne et c'est une qualité magnifique...
Beautiful !
Thanks
Pretty cool. I will listen to this again with the hope of maybe understanding the melody a bit more.
From 10:45 it is the best part

Isn't that the PlayStation 3 music in the beginning ?
#1, 2:55 #2 12:19
Not bad at all, I must say. Very beautiful indeed , but a little too fast I think
Sek Kuan Yeo exactly, especially last part didn’t sound like an Andante, but rather an Allegretto to say the least
13:52 the cellos get the spotlight for once
Excuse me they get enough spotlight, this was for the basses
I play the double bass and it’s a very big soli for us
14:12
17:20
3:15 fierce
The Andante is so misunderstood by this band (conductor)
where it was recorded?
Philharmonie Berlin.
janitzioIII south Mongolia!
très mauvais malheureusement, brutal et rapide, aucun rapport avec le caractère de cette musique

I agree with you. It is a good orchestra and good conductor but, I think those melodies needs more patience
