Isn’t it crazy how Soulja Boy is a scene icon? Y’all remember scene kids recording themselves dancing to crank that Soulja boy? Truly a fascinating era
You guys make me feel OLD.. I'm 27 and I remember this era heavy lol I remember being in love with XEATMEWHILEIMHOTX 's songs and downloading it off of limewire and showing my friend's. Lol and being like yeah it's the dude from the hippie band lol they'd freak out
I've never listened to any of Christopher's projects but I did hear a lot of talk about him growing up, but this series has taught me to appreciate his talent, his boundless variety and of course his music. It has been nice to watch him grow into the man he is today.
Chris talked in a stream not too long ago about how he wrote some stuff that would fit eatmewhileimhot but he said he'd have to get the other guys to want to do it, and in a now deleted instagram post someone commented something like " still waitin on a new eatmewhileimhot album" and chris said "haha maybe one day" so he probably at least wants to do it.
God I ever so vaguely remember eatmewhileimhot, I'm not old enough to have used Myspace but I remember feeling like I had discovered lost treasure when I found out about them after listening to nsn for a few years 😂 wonderful video!!! More chistofer drew!!!!
22 here. Will be turning 23 in October. Watching all these vids brings up a certain nostalgia and a lot of forgotten memories of the scene, warped tour days and always going to my local hot topic to find all of my black band tshirts and skinny jeans for school. Glad to know there is an almost whole generation of 22 year olds (and others close in age) that basically had the same experiences and time as a "rebellious" adolescent. I remember my concert venue being about 5 minutes away from my house so whenever there was a concert for the alternative radio station in my city, I would get dropped off at the venue with my friends and hang out with the older teenagers and young adults. At that time, it was the "norm" in the scene and people could get away with A LOT more than what they can now due to the better knowledge and experience of how dangerous that environment can be for pre and young teens. I also don't know if this is just me, but I remember whenever I went to my local mall, my friends and I thought we were "so cool and grown up" whenever we went in Spencer's.....the go-tos were Hot Topic and Spencers looking at the gauges and piercings my mother (thank you mom) would never let me get🤣🤣🤣
I've been watching you since the Bryan Stars video, and damn, dude, it's really good to see you getting so quickly adjusted and generally more used to being on camera, you're great!! What microphone do you use? Just a laptop mic or..? Been wanting to make vids myself but don't know where to start involving that
A Blue Snowball mic! Its a really basic USB mic that cost less than 100$ but i love it a lot! Does the job well ive been using it for years :) and thanks so much for the kind words!!
@TheCozyRepresentative I completely agree with @Something.Else you’ve come a long way since your first few videos. Please continue to do these nostalgic videos man. ---- You should do one of your top 10 Easycore bands, MySpace bands, and maybe solo projects or like the pop electronic groups from this time period! 🤘🏻
U just opened a can of worms in my brain that i haven’t thought of in 10 years 😌✊ that first MySpace stuff with ihitasquirrelitchangedmylife, xburritox was 8th grade for me and then freshman year of high school was the all my friends ep!!!! the point is such a fucking great song. chris will forever be a scene legend to me!!!! stoked he’s dropping new stuff too. loving your evolution of nsn series too. U got taste 😎🤘
also i just remembered that iconic gif photo shoot they did, my first high school band did the SAME thing for our MySpace copying them bc i thought it was cute 🥺 forgot about mister owl too wow the nostalgia is real
@@thecozyrep Same!! I tbh don't know if there's even anything interesting to talk about from their history, but I could prob listen to you talk about any band and enjoy it!!
I had no idea the 7" single existed, I NEED to get my hands on that haha. But also, EATMERAW put out a song called "Terror" in 2015, and one last song ("Fire in the Valley") in 2018! For some reason the second isn't on Spotify anymore, not sure why. I've enjoyed your NSN/Chris Drew series so much, it's a nice little trip down the middle school memory lane! Been listening to SO much NSN and EMWIH stuff again, I feel 13 again haha
With the name EATMEWHILEIMHOT, I bet someone registered it, getting a copyright & then filed suit. In the world of copyright, it doesn't matter who had it first, it matters who copyrighted it first. Kind of shitty, but it is what it is.
I’m so fortunate to have found and subscribed to this channel. I’m in LOVE with this scene and all the bands in it, (asking Alexandria, mayday parade, never shout never, sleeping with sirens, pierce the veil, falling in reverse, motionless in white, bmth, etc) so thank you so much for educating us on stuff we don’t know, this is just the best channel.
Tbh, Chris Drew was a songwriting genius. Tragic to see what's become of him as of late, but dude was definitely a brilliant writer and I wish there was more videos to emphasize the impact he had on the scene
Omg yeeesss new video ive been binging them all this week lol I’m like 2 years younger than you but It’s got me excited that someone talks about this stuff and remembers i feel like like I’m in middle school again lol
I always heard about the band back in the day but never really listened to them cause it wasn't my style at the time. But hearing Christofer Drew say "open up that fucking pit" is hilarious so thank you for that gem.
I love the fact that when you’re talking about someone’s history and you mention a previous band/ project, you give some video and a short back story of said side project or old band. I’ve already found more music from these background stories you’ve provided. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
long time viewer here. still find it incredible to learn so much about these great bands so many years later. i was blessed to be able to see the majority of them in my early teens and didn’t know half this stuff. (most of the bands you have covered on the channel) my 13 year old self would be proud of the amount of knowledge i now have haha. keep up the good work dude. definitely a go to youtube channel 💯
I'm from Joplin Missouri and grew up going to shows every week at the same venue that Chris grew up in called the foundry. Strip the colors was the first time I ever met chris. He was playing at The foundry and it was definitely just him and Hayden with program drums on a macbook. At the beginning of the show he announced they don't have a drummer so their laptop which he had named a girl named that I can't remember was their drummer. The show was cool and I was definitely interested in him after that and eventually found never shout never and other projects related to him and he actually moved back to Missouri after he got really big and started throwing raves and record company. I found this looking for a strip the colors video it's interesting this is the only thing I can find online like you said about it. It was one of the first metal shows I ever saw and opened me up to realize that I didn't need a drummer in order to make beats
Despite being much older than most of the myspace kids I was an early adopter. A friend at to invite me. I think I was 19 or 20 when it started. But I was around back then. I love your videos. And I also must ask for the rest of escape the fate story. I saw them & falling in reverse right before the lockdown. Oh the days where we could congregate 😿 lol ~🧡🦇
Adding to the “never ending story” of “never shout never”... love your enthusiasm and true love of the music you talk about... your chuckle makes every video even better:) thanks for the music escape!!!
Saw them back in 2013 in joplin they were one of the opening acts for a band called remnant, Christopher drew has the craziest stage presence I've seen. And was throwing pizza in the crowd
dude I really dig your videos! you’re a great storyteller, genuinely funny, well versed in the alt genre, and these vids take me back to my emo days forreal. you gotta do the early history of pierce the veil!!
You take recommendations? You do? Ok. Id like to know what happened to chase coy, Stephen jerzak and the scene aesthetic🤘🤣 Also I need Chris Drew to react to all the NSN and this vid
I'd honestly love to see you do a video about TDWP, or A Lot Like Birds/Kurt Travis. Especially since ALLB is over now which feels like it would fit with your style of covering bands within the scene that have come and gone.
Cool fact: I used to live with the band, minus Chris. A house on C street in Joplin with a couple of dudes (Josh and Ben). Used to watch Metalocalypse every night and robo trip haha. I met Chris a few times when he came over. Gave me an American Eagle coat because I didn't have one. Have it still. His brother David was my best friend (Rest in Peace). I miss those days.
God, I remember listening to them when I was in my scene/emo who loves screamo phase. The only band I've kept since then is Dance Gavin Dance tbh. Edit: Also, I love I Set My Friends on Fire and Attack, Attack. Oh my God.
Omg the memories, I went to Unsilent Night 2. So much nostalgia!! I've really been enjoying this deep dive you're doing. I remember going to May Madness too! Wow, haven't thought of any of this in so long. I went to so many concerts at that venue. Sadly now all it holds is craft festivals.
Lived in Joplin a good chunk of my years and saw eatmewhileimhot a few times. The last time I saw them they played a cd release show for the local band Remnants and Chris had the best stage presence I’ve seen in along time. Walking around the stage like a dinosaur throwing pizza in the crowd and talking about eating Taco Bell. Was a great night
i just found your channel a couple days ago and im binge watching all of your content, your videos are so well-researched and provide so much nostalgia!!! thank you!!😊
plz give us more 2000’s-10’s info content. as a former scene/emo kid it warm my heart. keep it ON w/ the long ass multiple part anthologies. big love. also band history video recommendations: bring me the horizon, of mice & men, black veil brides, only ones i can think of off the top of my head. and talking about more controversies, and deaths, etc would be super interesting. thank u for all that u do❤️❤️❤️
Even though I was young at the time to even know what it was, MySpace sounded like a cool website, hearing it from most people who experienced it. I wish we had a site like that today, but I guess you can say that Bandcamp is close to that.
Bro I literally used to be the only one in my town who knew EMWIH... they need to bring it back... like cmon Chris drew... stop playing with us. I’m probably gonna fight him for not keeping this band going lmao! Love you cozy rep!
From the image showing strip the colors being a 2 piece and described as "heavy electronic rock n roll", my assumption is that it had electronic programmed drums playing in the background with kind of an early nevershoutnever type instrumental track playing in the background with the dude playing guitar over it, thus essentially creating a combination of nevershoutnever and asking Alexandria soundwise.
I love what you're doing man! Off topic, I'd kill to see that 2nd part of the Ronnie and Craig rivalry video. I was so invested as a teen but reliving it and seeing that growth fills a void in me I didn't know I had.
"All My Friends" sounds like the precursor to bands like HECCRA and JetSetSail.. (both of which I am a MASSIVE fan of) so I am LIVING FOR IT! >:D Thanks so much for the vid, Dude! Keep on!
Dude we need a part 4 about the story of Chris Drew!!! about the new pics on instagram and all that story after NSN... btw love ur content and greatings from Mexico!!!
My favorite two prized (kind of?) "scene kid" possessions are probably my limited edition tiger-robot-wizard-shark Closure In Moscow shirt and my, signed by each member of the band, Pink Lemonade CD, also by Closure In Moscow. Sadly though, I somehow lost the actual CD itself somewhere quite awhile back. I still have the full band signed album case though.
my favorite homeless youtuber back at it again providing me with quality 2000s content
LMFAO 😂🤣
This don't even have a RUclips video out. Bruh I like the hair and the name😆
Think about this if his soul didn't have a place in his body, then he would be homeless?

nah
Isn’t it crazy how Soulja Boy is a scene icon? Y’all remember scene kids recording themselves dancing to crank that Soulja boy? Truly a fascinating era
The dude put writing on his glasses. Soulja proved himself in the scene with that alone.
I Set My Friends On Fire's cover of Crank That is truly legendary
This is cool to find my little group of fellow 22 year olds who loved the scene scene in the scene days
27 but cheers.
Agreed, it was definitely a nice long trip down memory lane haha
@@RiggedandReady lmao frfr. this is ALLL middle school for me

Julian this can't be the final chapter of your Chris Drew series now you gotta review the new quarantine album!!
U right!!
Absolutely!
Agree new album and his influence on newer artists for the lasttt chrisss credits!!!!
Is the Gonzo / Gonzone worth a mention?
That would for real be dope! 🤘🏻
Christopher really looks super different now. He got 7 eleven drifter vibe.
Yep
I was never really big into scene culture at its peak but damn these videos are reigniting something in me lol
You NEED to get an interview with ol Chris to end this series off!!!!!!
yo that would be craaaazy haha
So what’s up you get the interview yet?! I’m counting on you bro hahaha 😂
Agreed!!
the ‘rare’ mister owl cd reminds me of a mandela effect we can all debunk and not feel crazy about lol
Tbh eatmewhileimhot slapped, vampires and mother may i were definitely their best songs
The point tho...
tutu07777 ive actually been listening to the point a lot today i totally agree man

Emily Hür @kymicarecords it was his personal Instagram but he's using it for his record label for now I guess
Said something about playing another show a few years ago at South by so what. Never happened unfortunately
It's just been released 🎉

such a throwback, takes me back to simpler times in middle school/early hs!
EATMEWHILEIMHOT! Was my favorite Christofer Drew side project. Love that you talked about this. Please talk about his quarantine acoustic album.
I BINGED your videos and they’re getting me through quarantine
It's weird to think that EMWIH, the side band, technically had a full band before the main project, NSN. 😅
I was never into ”the scene” but i like your stuff bud. Keep em coming.
EATMEWHILEIMHOT was MySpace at its finest. I’m getting some Drop Dead, Gorgeous vibes.

Not strictly true, because creative licensing is a thing

Tbh, Chris Drew was a songwriting genius. Tragic to see what's become of him as of late, but dude was definitely a brilliant writer and I wish there was more videos to emphasize the impact he had on the scene
He could honestly still be very relevant these days. I mean look at oliver sykes (and bmth).

Can you do a series on Underoath’s success?
Your channel is slowly becoming an absolute masterpiece.......
Uploaded a minute ago. Thank you, MySpace God Band.
Actually never heard if this side project so I had to go listen to the entire discography before I watched
Welp that's commitment.
I think the “xx” thing was a play on the straight edge scene. And I really liked the mushroom album

If you want you could do a short vid of his psychedelic project "gonzo" it was a pretty rad thing in my opinion
I found out that drew was the singer of this band earlier this year and ever since then I have been waiting for this.

How bout an series of We Came With Broken Teeth? They’ll be an interesting episode and they used fl studio mostly for their songs.
the myspace music scene is just the glam and hair metal of the late 00s and early 10s

I saw them at unsilent night!! It was great and I'll always remember it.
