The fact he was openly talking about abusing his wife on national television, and people were LAUGHING, is maybe one of the most insane things I have ever seen.
That's how it was back then. It was almost like an accepted part of society where the women mutually knew to just keep their mouths shut and their legs open. Horrendous, yes. But that was the "norm" back then and unfortunately this way of thinking is alive and well. Just more behind closed doors.
She’s actually 80% correct but if you’re in New York like me and you read the newspaper every day like I do actually it was the other way around. Mike Tyson would not come out because of what happened to his coach. She was very controlling and her mother was spearheading all of this. I am not victimizing her at all because my sister die in the hands of her abusive boyfriend,, she wanted dress him. The mother was acting more like the girlfriend then Robin and they was spending his money like crazy.
Everybody knew it was a toxic relationship, but she still went ahead and marry him and didn’t even get a prenup. She wanted his money from the beginning. The mother was hungry.
People don't believe Brad Pitt abused Angelina, that Megan Fox's and Kelly Clarkson 's husbands were abusive... And many many more. Nothing has changed
@JustMeandGod_ it's terrifying that people dismiss abuse by saying someone was a gold digger. Do they think that means they deserve to be beaten and raped? Truly terrifying I don't think Robin was a gold digger (especially if she didn't want to move in with him and he sprung a surprise wedding on her) but it's completely irrelevant
Asserting power by violating women and not being able to control your instincts is as weak and pathetic of a man as it gets. He’s not strong, the women that survived his abuse and were brave enough to share the story are infinitely stronger than him.
@@MissPerpul I truly hope you never have to go through any of the pain and suffering that these poor women went through at his hands. IMAGINE claiming that somebody "changing his ways" is a good enough reason to idolise an abuser and rapist. I feel physically sick at this comment. I understand your frustration, but for some people his story is inspiring, not for the ring, but the change he had. A story that started from an abusive household with parents in the sex industry. He was abandoned and after his parents died was manipulated by a man his whole adolescence. When this man that manipulated died, he left him a man without love but a wrong message in his head “to conquer”. Later he got used for years by the worst and most evil manager in sports history. When the story of house abuse came out, Mike had the courage to talk about his mistakes on TMZ or better, let her talk about it. I unfortunately don’t like how the numerous cheatings of mikes ex wife were conveniently not mentioned. Mike was abused all life and used… I’m not surprised how he turned out, and he payed the price by ending in prison. PLS READ THIS: Nothing will ever justify what Mike did, and you don’t have to forgive him or not fight to cancel him. What I’m trying to do is make people understand that he’s a changed man, he paid for what he did. And now he has one of the biggest charities in the world that work to help people suffering from abuse. I understand making this video is perfect timing, and it’s often taking out facts to make Tyson look Worse for clicks. It’s fine. It’s the internet and everyone deserves to have an opinion. (Ah and it don’t change that Paul did a scum move Beating a old man, it doesn’t matter who he is, he did that knowing it’s just for money and to look good)
@@piotrb.3163Why are you people so convinced he’s a changed man when it’s known HE ISNT. Vague interviews of him “apologizing” are him apologizing to the public for the fact he was caught. Jake did a favor beating on that old man the same way Tyson beat on his wife, He HASNT changed all of what eleanor has said is true and can be found through interviews and articles on him, she’s not exaggerating anything 3 years in prison for what is quite literally R8PE is NOTHING compared to the trauma he has caused these women. He is still celebrated so no he hasn’t suffered enough, almost nobody knows of this, and his attempts at burying this still show what sort of man he is. @@piotrb.3163Once a rapist always a rapist. I do not agree he paid for what he did. As someone who was raped at 16 and never got justice you will NEVER catch me defending a rapist or an abuser. I’m not gonna debate it with you because to be honest, this amount of hate i’ve had this evening for even just mentioning the fact he’s an abuser and rapist is abysmal and speaking to his little fans is like speaking to a brick wall. But I hope when you sit and talk about how he’s a “changed man” with a normal life - you think about all the women around the world who’s life will never “change” or be “normal” after they’ve suffered from rape, abuse and violence.
@@georgiescoles I will engage in a conversation regarding the experiences of victims. I recognize that my perspective may be undervalued due to my gender, as some feminists ridicule men. In my instance, I was subjected to sexual assault by a woman between the ages of 7 and 13. It is important to acknowledge that women may also perpetrate rape, however they often face no repercussions, which may stem from a prevailing animosity against men.
I’ve never heard any of this. That’s just insane to me. I always thought he was just a misunderstood boxer, but at this point I’ll never look at him the same way again. Thank you for opening my eyes Eleanor

I love you so much. Making the first part about the victim is a power move. Blame assaulters, humanize victims. I never saw other true crime channels as respectful and honest on RUclips. Some of them make their episodes about the killers and you make a power moooveee love youuuu
The worst abusers are seemingly good people, it’s insanely common for someone to be a good person outside and then when they get home they go beat on their wifes, husbands, kids. And if anyone reading this is in that situation, you deserve so much better and you deserve to be safe and cared for. There is help available don’t suffer in silence
This is one of the things people don’t understand, abusers tend to be very charismatic. When I left my abuser, he kept all of our friends and I was tagged as a crazy ex, meanwhile I had to treat my ptsd from being r*p*d by him…
He was never seemingly a good person. Just a guy who grew up on the streets of New York and got into boxing. Back then, in interviews he would brag that he was violent, and that he loved violence. That's what being a "real man" was considered back then, and you still see the remains of that today. Men were supposed to "wear the pants" in the house and most ran around on "their women" but expected that "their women" remained loyal. Whether they say it or not, they viewed women as their property, just like they viewed a dog as their property. In the 80's and early 90's working at bars, there would be at least 4 fist fights a night. People were hopped up on coke, steroids, liquor, etc. and men touted "extra testosterone". That's why they used to call tank-tops "Wife Beaters" . All the "guys" back then would wear tank-tops and sport mullets. It was a gross time for humanity. Hopefully it never repeats itself.
I DIDNT EITHER BC WTF. My whole class doesn’t seem to know either For like 30 minutes today in my class we talked all about him and not once was how bad of a person he is mentioned

It made me almost tear up when you started going into Robin’s life. Because, thank you. You are 100% right that women who have suffered abuse are not just a shocking headline. They are people who deserve recognition and support. You did a great job Eleanor! 💕

I think its worth looking into Oprah - she has NOTORIOUSLY inappropriate interviews all through her career. She has made billions wearing a mask- but if you dig into interviews, she was making a mockery and a joke about A LOT A LOT OF women and men who were hurting. Pdiddy was on her show. Cosby was on her show. MT was on her show. All these interviews include her making a joke about what we not know to have been abuse. I cannot stand her.
This. People like Oprah & Ellen seem to always be involved and complicit in these behaviours and nobody bats an eye because they come across as good and lighthearted people to their audience. Oprah’s interview with Mary Kate and Ashley is burned in my memory. It’s sinister.
That’s insane have you seen her show on men’s sexual violence? She had a bunch of male survivors stand in her studio and tell their story. She’ll do that but make fun of survivors of abuse ? What?
Remember when Tyson guest starred as a wrongfully convicted man on “Law and Order: SVU” and the episode ended with a big hug from the detectives? 🤢 I thought I was going insane, because I knew he was a rightfully convicted r*pist of a _child._ In the 90s, my parents talked about how Robin Givens was horrifically abused and then pilloried for seeking help. But on video after video, long before the Paul fight, he’s enjoyed a stellar reputation, as if he never violated women and girls or viciously beat his wife or _bragged about it_ in public. And I don’t think those Japanese maids had much of a choice, from the sound of it. Where are they? Where’s _their_ justice? You have my eternal gratitude for making this video.

The fact of the matter is, this is actually quite normal to happen. That’s just the unfortunate reality of situations like this.

Thank you for focusing on robin for a long segment of the video, there are so many stories where they focus on the abuser more than the victim. Because while it is a tragedy, there is a person behind it. All the stories I’ve heard about robin and mike Tyson it’s always been just a simple headline zoning in on the abuse like it’s some sort of spectacle.
Eleanor , there’s a service on airlines for unaccompanied children . My daughter used to fly to NYC on her own from a young age . Children are passed from their guardian to the hostess , who looks after your child for the flight , she hands over to the person collecting them at the other end of the journey .
Thank you so much for covering the ugly truth that people seem to ignore. Mike has gone on to admit to much, not all, of the abuse he dished out and how he’s trying to find peace. However, it’s incredibly important that we as a society acknowledge the reason for his notoriety and the REASON WHY he should stay on the bench forever.
Imagine going to bed every night not knowing if your own husband will r*pe you in the middle of the night. Please anyone reading, if you are being abused find a way to get out. No one deserves this!
I can’t believe how forgiving society still is when it comes to men. It’s almost 2025, yet this double standard persists-it’s truly heartbreaking. Thank you, Eleanor, for shedding light on this issue. My heart goes out to all the women who have been silenced, dismissed, or overlooked by our society. The case of Mike Tyson is a glaring example of this troubling pattern. Despite his history of abusive behavior, he faced little lasting accountability and continued to thrive in the public eye. It’s disheartening to witness how fame, power, and talent often overshadow the harm done to victims, allowing perpetrators to move on while the survivors carry the weight of their trauma. This reflects a much deeper societal failure-one that continues to protect the privileged at the expense of justice for those they’ve wronged.
This is not true. Its not forgiving of men. Its forgiving of bad men. Horrible men. It forgives and protects them. Women too. There have been some horrible ones and they're protected. Look around and be honest. The double standard is not men and women. It seems to be good and bad. You can't possibly be suggesting that good men don't get their lives immediately wrecked by false allegations. It's happened so many times in recent history alone.
All these people saying he’s an ‘ex abuser’ literally know nothing, if you had ever suffered abuse at the hands of a person like this then you would understand that they NEVER change.
@ we are talking about domestic abusers here, children aren’t domestic abusers. ‘Please research’ i’ve lived it first hand for 5 years, i know what im talking about.
I’m going to politely disagree. I will say that majority of the time this statement is true though. I am a domestic abuse survivor, and didn’t get the courage to leave until he almost killed me. But about 10 years after I left, he got help and he now truly is an “ex abuser”. He’s doing well, happily married and reached out to me several years ago to apologize for “terrorizing me and for my son seeing some of it”. And then I also personally know someone that basically is the same story. It wasn’t me that suffered at his hands, but a family member. She never left, but he did end up getting help and did successfully change those behaviors. I think that if a lot of these abusers would just be vulnerable, admit their wrongdoings, and put the work in, they can change. Just like an addict whose behaviors and addiction run deep, if they put in the work and WANT a healthy stable life, they can succeed.
To answer your question, no. People are still not ready to give up their faves even though they’re abusive. That’s why people like Brad Pitt, Chris Brown and Dr. Dre are still loved by many. It’s sad to think about.
I’m never surprised when men who are so interested in violence are violent towards people outside of their profession. It’s never an expectation that these men are abusive, but I’m never surprised.
humans are interested in violence its part of our nature, just because you are a soft person or a kind heart or a really passive person doesn't mean you don't have a tick, and when that tick is pushed far enough either you self destruct and hurt yourself or hurt others whether its physically or by words, its in your system. women box too, women wrestle, women are in MMA, and many of then are very kind people. many fighters hate hurting people, mike himself used to cry about it. so don't try generalise and impose your misandry on men, if you hate men just say it, everybody can tell anyway and its sad so many people do

@@MissPerpul I truly hope you never have to go through any of the pain and suffering that these poor women went through at his hands. @@MissPerpulyou’re totally right, I’m so disappointed in Elanor for wanting to take clout over this old man’s back who has worked so hard on himself + there is a whoooole background story behind it. And I’m saying this as an attempted mrdr survivor.
the tik toks im seeing talking about how he’s just a “wittle old man 👉🥹👈” are driving me insane - literal WOMEN with CHILDREN are arguing with me when I bring it up and insinuating I HAVE ISSUES when they’re empathetic towards a RAPIST. It’s mad.

@@piotrb.3163Why are you people so convinced he’s a changed man when it’s known HE ISNT. You all try so hard to make people empathize with an abuser it’s MAD, he HASNT apologized to that press aid lady NOR has he apologized to the multiple WOMEN HE HURT!!!!! Ugh empathizing with the abuser instead of the v1ct1m as always!
Cheating isn’t an excuse to b3at or guilt trip your wife btw
@@piotrb.3163Once a rapist always a rapist. I do not agree he paid for what he did. As someone who was raped at 16 and never got justice you will NEVER catch me defending a rapist or an abuser. But I suppose many people will never know what that feels like.

When I left my abuser, he kept all of our friends and I was tagged as a crazy ex, meanwhile I had to treat my ptsd from being r*p*d by him…
The hardest part is getting out I learned it im a dv survivor

I thought about that. Could you imagine the fear. He knocked out professional boxers. Id be worried for my life.
the timing was so brave, love your integrity Eleanor xx
Thank you so much for covering this side of him amd his history! I grew up in those years and remember well seeing this in the news. How alone she must have felt. People need to realize that no matter how talented, their idols are human, and can be capable of bad things. Look at pro sports, movie stars, the music industry, and now the Diddy stuff. Violence against women is more common than we know and is never ok!! Thank God (and content makers like you) that we are becoming more aware of it and trying to end the cycle of shame to victims. You go girl!
To any victims-.It is NOT your fault! Nothing you say or do makes it ok to abuse you.
watching this instead of the fight tonight bc f*ck supporting abusers and narcissists. thank you for bringing this to light for more people
That’s the same exact thought I had lol. Instead of watching his fight I watched this video and was reminded of the awful things he did and probably still does.
@@lindasplace2727don’t forget Jake Paul as well !
Just found out randomly that he is s convicted rapist. I was so shocked. Fucking shit. I can't believe I fell for his godly attitude recently
Same
No Evidence was found!
@@TheIrish978 what do you mean? He was literally sent to prison
@@piikapoka will I must be living under a rock because I never know he was in prison.
@@jaxbriggs8976 dude don’t defend him he is a 🍇is and abuser
Thank you so much for the work you do! You speak of victims with the utmost compassion and respect, and give the most thorough and accurate accounts of events. A compassionate genius.
the internet rn: he’s just a little old man, jakes a meanie 🥺👉👈
eleanor: how’s my form? ✌️
This was the most respectful and healing video I’ve seen in quite a while. Brought me to tears at the end the way you honored this woman. As a victim, this was a wonderful watch. Thank you ❤
Wow i had no idea he bragged about punching his gf thats absolutely insane, like thats another level of demented. Any guy who looks at a woman as something to over power dont care about love but power. And its completely backwards that one minute women are regarded as the weaker sex, but also an obstacle to conquer.
Thank you for bringing light to this. IM SO TIRED of people litterally sobbing online about "Jake beat a poor old man" 🙄 same ppl elected a rapist to be our president so I can't be too surprised
What an amazing coverage of this situation! I remember when it all happened and it’s exactly as you reported it… The vilification was palpable!!!!! He was 100% a thug who was able to turn his ability to fight into something profitable… and he just didn’t know how to leave it in the ring. Too much power. I’m glad Robin was able to escape it though.
The timing of this video is fantastic. Just as he lost a boxing macht and lots of people feel sorry for him all over media... Just great timing 💪🏻💪🏻
I am currently watching/listening to this while my 14 yr old son is getting ready for me to take him to his friends house to watch the fight. I knew Mike Tyson had a violent past but I never knew all this about him. He was a little before my time. At his biggest I wasn’t even born yet or still super little. He had a show on for a bit about him and his pigeons. Being retired and went back to his love for them and racing them. I thought, oh he’s just a big dude who had it rough and so misunderstood. Wow was I wrong. I just hope he is a changed man and doesn’t have those same views on women anymore.
I never knew this stuff about Mike, he was before my time but I knew a lot about his career because I was involved with MMA. I met him once in person behind the scenes and he was extremely polite and soft-spoken. I never would’ve expected him to have such an awful dark side.
and suddenly, I’m a Jake Paul fan
jokes they’re both clowns
At least Jake Paul is much better than Mike Tyson, and slightly better than Logan imo
No he’s an animal abuser. The sadness in that pigs eyes will haunt me forever
@@moyaxoxo5923 😂😂😂😂
@@moyaxoxo5923oh god did I miss something 😭?!?!?? he hits animals?!??? and what pig thing oh god I don’t even wanna look it up
99.99% of ppl believe mike is a legend which he is he isn't no clown
I was a teen in the 90s and I always wanted to know what happened bc all the trusted News Women ie Oprah and Barbara Walters did a terrible job interviewing them. Alls I ever saw was how scared she was and no one helped her. Then she disappeared from the public eye. Thank you for doing this episode. Especially now.
i love the way you tell stories you make all the situations feel like im actually watching it go on or like im there even if it's such a horrific story. you make it so intriguing and give justice to the victims in such a eloquent manner!
Thank you for covering this, phenomenal timing too 🔥 The media did such a good job brushing the things he did under the rug, that I didn't even know half the things happened that you spoke about. Thank you for giving Robin Givens a platform and telling her story. ❤️
And people say that men/ women that get accused of sa won't have a career when Mike tyson exists...
Oh my god I just looked through the comments of that interview with robin and him and it's fucjing insane. It's so enraging. Imagine seeing a woman talk about her partner abusing her and you're just like "Omg poor little baby mike🥺 He went through so much that's why he's so angwy🥺🥺"
I’m so glad that series and creators like you exist. We need to bring to light what people are capable of, even if they’re famous and loved.
I never knew he had a history of this. Its interesting to know all this right as this new thing is going on. Love you btw!❤
the fact ive never heard any of this until this video speaks volumes about society. i thought he was just a badass boxer. this is insane
immaculate timing, thank you
Didn’t know about this, thank you Elenor.
Watching this instead of the fight today. Much rather support this channel and getting the truth out.
Now u watch this but don’t do ya research nd see the whole documentary he did on this situation and how many people including them were taking advantage of the money he had and power like I never wanna accuse someone of lying about something to this extreme but there are people out there who have done it I don’t have a specific opinion I see truth in both sides but watch all the evidence even down the Tyson’s jail interviews from when he was convicted you’ll have a different view of the situation for sure
I had no idea about any of this thank you so much for enlightening me
