Saltwater BFS (Bait Finesse System) … LRF ( Light Rock Fishing).
Having fished BFS or (Bait Finesse System) in freshwater i thought i would give it a go in Saltwater. I absolutely loved it! Join me as i work things out and catch Ballan Wrasse, Corkwing Wrasse, Large Pout and Pollack. I am effectively LRF - Light Rock Fishing but with a baitcasting outfit.
BFS is a rapidly growing branch of lure fishing which involves using light baitcasting rods and reels coupled with light lines and lures to catch pressured fish. Commonly practiced in freshwater not as many anglers use it in saltwater due to worrying about saltwater corrosion. As long as you carefully clean your gear afterwards you should have no problems.

Give it a go mate. I shall be doing lots more. Loving your channel as ever buddy.
@@TheConstantAngler thx for the love! Let's make the bfs trend Into a norm in 2022!
Wouldn’t that be great. Onwards and upwards.
Expanding rapidly. Growing all the time in UK. Great to see how different countries are adapting it to for their fish. I’m loving it and learning all the time. Bait Finesse Empire looks amazing.
@@TheConstantAngler you need to build a store now ;)
Great session 👍
The kuying teton rods are amazing.
Happy New Year 🎉🎉🎉
Tight lines in 2022🎣🎣🎣🎣
Cheers Gavin. They sure outperform their price tag. Happy New Year to you. Thanks for your support.
Nice video Adrian 👍🎣
You will have to pop up some time give it a go
always enjoy your videos. Especially this one, from the UK. The other SW video was the one from RX Angler, using his BFS in the Texas marshes for Redfish. Keep it up Adrian 👍🏻🎣😁
Cheers mate. Glad you enjoy them. Hopefully I will do one with commentary next to as has sound issues this time.
Well done mate, I believe you are the first to post a Saltwater BFS video, at least in the UK. You could be starting off a whole new genre of the sport. More please, perhaps with commentary
Will do mate. Had sound issue this time out, but sorted now. Thought I might be. Gear performed well. Think the reel will struggle with sub 2gr. Needs a thorough clean now. Might add extra magnets.
Nice little session buddy.
Lrf is something im seriously considering trying out.
Especially in the winter months when the sea is just too rough where I live for hrf,but the ports and harbours are more sheltered.
They hold plenty of the smaller species
Only option I had on the day. Great sport. Be interesting if I hooked a big Wrasse though!
@@TheConstantAngler glad you enjoyed it buddy.
Thats the most important thing!
A 1lb ballan would certainly have you hanging on for dear life
😱
This looks really good fun. I've not fished for the past 30 years and this past summer ended up saltwater fishing with my brother in-law, loved every minute of it, cracking stuff, I'm now starting to build a few bits of tackle together for the next trip out, LRF & BFS is right up my street, I see you use the agility landing net but I'd love to know what pole you've paired it with.
Cheers
Best bit of kit I ever bought. I now pair it with the HTO flip net. todbermanor.co.uk/nets-handles/7063-daiwa-iso-59m-rock-fishing-landing-net-handle-5055161880973.html
@@TheConstantAngler thank you for the info link 👍🏻
Do remember catching a nice mackerel, at Blackpool Sands, on my $5.00 rod I brought back from the USA?
First cast, straight in to the mackerels mouth and reeled in, in less than a minute!!
Great day. How could I forget. You are partly responsible for the Wrasse fishing as you once bought me back some Cone Weights from the states which I eventually used to catch them. Hope you had a good Christmas and have a great New Year mate.
@@TheConstantAngler All the best bud, same to your family.
I remember buying those cone weights for you, thinking ‘they are a bit different’!!
Just subscribed Adrian, good luck.
If you fancy a go at BFS it can be done relatively cheaply. Why not join my Facebook group BFS BUDGET FINESSE FISHING and pick up tips here: facebook.com/groups/2925161927747288/
Awesome vid mate
3:44 serious net accuracy 😂
Nice to see something different keep it up
Also where were you fishing 🎣
Tight lines 👍
Cheers buddy. Loving yours 👍
PM me and I will let you know where I was.
Great video, I've used one of my casting setups before while wrasse fishing, being just above what's usually considered bfs (About 10gram) but I would always draw for a fixed spool when fishing from the shore for wrasse. Firstly you aren't stopping any decent sized wrasse on BFS in snaggy areas and the one thing I noticed which is a common pain in the arse fishing a baitcaster is you cannot cast out and leave the bail arm off to let the lure sink to the bottom especially in deep water. You will lose a fair amount of actual distance your lure is in contact with the bottom compared to a fixed spool.
Think your correct about a big Wrasse and BFS gear. I love baitcasters for close in work but spinning reel for distance HRF. I usually thumb the spool when the lure is descending to control its fall but a spinning reel is more practical granted. Been same spot today had two 1lb Wrasse and you have to use the whole of the rod with the drag locked up to gain control. Will be moving on to lighter lures poss mullet, flounder etc where not such a problem
@@TheConstantAngler It's all good fun to be fair, not to say if you're fishing somewhere where the fish can't do you in a snag on that initial run wrasse make you're alright on BFS probably but there's nothing worse than being under gunned and losing a big fish and leaving a lure in them. Would love to see you do a flatfish on BFS that I'm sure would be a UK first for sure!
Have another vid out this week where I catch two bigger Wrasse. To be fair though your correct about hooking a decent fish. Wasn’t expecting fish of this size where I was and the rods did it but were at their limits as you will see. I always use barbless hooks so shouldn’t leave a lure in them but I wouldn’t fancy hooking and loosing a big one. It’s an ambition of mine to catch a Flounder on LRF or even better BFS.
@@TheConstantAngler I think the flatfish lure fishing scene will get bigger in the UK next few years.
@@niallruston9434 definitely. There will be plenty of new spots that people find. Some estuaries are stuffed with them.
Nice video. I have the same rod, its a super rod, at A god price. Regards from Denmark
Cheers Ron. Great rod. Thanks for your support
I like the video , not the bit where you spat the plastic tho.
Sorry about that. It is biodegradable though.
