    Light rod fishing is so much more fun than heavy gear. And more versatile. I use it for almost all species in fresh and saltwater for 10+ years now. Record is a 14 kg pike on light tackle.

    Will all due respect, we are a variety fishing show, we represent all forms of fishing. The benefit of it being on RUclips, if they don't like it, they can simply close the video and move on. We have had over 13,000 subscribers in under 2 years, over 300,000 viewers a month. Since doing these rock fishing videos we have been inundated with how successful beginners have found it. Why go so complicated about a technique when if it is already catching fish, what is the point in changing it? Mike

    Over here in Australia you either have Heavy Rock Fishing or SUPER HEAVY Rock fishing. There is no light rock fishing, or at least I've never seen anyone do it. They always have a massive rod with live baits or a medium rod to catch those live baits.

    I think you might have missed the point.It was an instructional to show people about LRF,which is absolutely no different to general light tackle spinning that anglers have done for 50 years. But the rubber worms/grubs are relatively new for inshore fishing. We had a couple of hours at the end of the trip to catch...and did.You can catch 40 4lb Pollock on a good day in Ireland. What's the point of showing all the fish, but not the method to catch them ?

    cracking show. i have bought a sonik light tec spin rod. do you think this would be ok for lrf? bit wary that the tip is a bit to thin. thanks

    • @TAFishing
      @TAFishing  9 лет назад

      luke williams It will probably be fine, just be wary of the tip when you are transporting the rod. My tip broke on my lrf rod, but just got a saw and took it down to the next ring and now it's helped to strengthen the rod. - Mike

    that's good, atleast you now know what LRF is now:-) I notice you using the "rockfish" rods, shame they didn't get a mention, also the lure size could of got a lot smaller (Japanese fake rag worm and tiny jig heads this rod is capable of casting) to pick out the blennies ect would of been good to touch upon for the species hunters amongst us, also the big fish guys like myself that use this method when times are hard, id love to know where he got a fs reel that can cope with braid for under a tenner? if you don't get that right your just going to be un picking tangles, in braid that's a nightmare.as for weights a small running lead be that bullet or even aylesy bomb will do the job, it don't have to go over the hook eye, "the art of fishing" website for a complete run down of bits, catching anything over a few oz on this gear is an absolute blast, when they hit a few pound you might as well be hooked up to a Marlin. amazing sport. well done guys for getting it bang on this time any way!

    Hi mike. A quick question about leaders. I was watching another lrf video and you mentioned 6lb braid with 4lb fluorocarbon leader. I thought the leader always had to be stronger or does this just apply to braid?

    • @TAFishing
      @TAFishing  9 лет назад +1

      Stephen Reid ##### Hi Stephen, yes a lot of people do that. I guess it's down to personal preference and how the conditions are on the day. If you are fishing very snaggy areas then up the fluorocarbon leader strength. If fishing is tough and you are fishing with ultra small jigs then a 4lb fluorocarbon should help entice a bite.
      Hope that helps.
      Mike

    hello awsome video!i am wonderig if yellow 6lb braid would be ok for lrf and dropshot and ocassionally spinning?

    • @TAFishing
      @TAFishing  9 лет назад

      zak lia I have used yellow 6lb for dropshot and it's worked fine. However, I recommend using at least 10lb braid minimum as if you snag on a tree root or weed, it's a slim chance getting your lure back. I use 12-16lb braid for my dropshotting depending on what river conditions are like

  • @jasonrenshaw9010
    @jasonrenshaw9010 11 лет назад

    Enjoyed the video, very interesting BUT 15lb braid and 10lb mono is HRF not LRF. LRF is using 3 or 4lb flourocarbon and tiny lures, so a little misleading in my opinion, but interesting none the less. Nice one.
