    I love how you turn things into a learning adventure. I appreciate how you listen to and validate your sons thoughts and opinions. The boys will treasure these memories when they are grown and hopefully bring their families to your magical cabin.
    Thank you for sharing your family's off grid cabin and all of your exploring the area. Everett thank you for showing us the Eagle. Lauren your bath tub brought back memories for me. As a young girl growing up in the mountains of West Virginia, we didn't have indoor plumbing. Lol We too had a two seater out house. It was a joke in the "holler" I lived in that we had the nicest outhouse of the entire holler. My dad took pride in keeping ours painted inside and out. He would scrub it down and repaint it every year and he kept "lime" dumped into it so it didn't smell. Every five years he would dig a new hole and move and rebuild the outhouse, liming and filling in the old hole. We bathed in a galvanized tub. When I was thirteen we got "fancy" and dad installed indoor plumbing and we had our first bathroom with running hot water that momma didn't heat on the stove. Great memories. We raised and preserved our food each year. You and Mark are teaching your sons invaluable skills for life. They will always be self sufficient and be able to provide for themselves. Again thank you for sharing your family.

    omg that is a gorgeous place..looks so relaxing! I has to lol bc I was born in 76 so when you said the cabin was built in the 70's it made me giggle. My grandparents had a Cabin in Luzerne County Pennsylvania that we would spend 2 weeks at a time in summer. everyone slept upstairs it was a huge room with about 12 beds..from single to full size. it's great; but when ppl snore you don't get much sleep lol...we had an outhouse as well. we took basin baths inside one at a time and washed our hair outside..we got our water from a fresh spring that had a protected area covered and we never contaminated it..we'd take what we needed put into jugs & carry it back up to the cabin..there were ppl that lived in the area..but we were secluded. our treat was having the local friends come for dinner etc..but the best was going to Knobels Amusement park. We have 1 last child..our son Jack who is 8..he recently went to Knobels..the cabin is still in the family and used as a hunting cabin as well..but those memories last a lifetime..Your boys will have the BEST memories. (sorry so long) 😐 ty for sharing this adventure!!!

    Cooooollll!!! I absolutely loved this video with you showing all the neat beach combing finds, Info and adventures. I think this is my favorite! I can't wait to be able to do this too. Wow. Makes my heart sing and dream of this life. Love your cabin. You went into great detail of staying there and what you had to do to make it more comfortable with the water and shower and more. I wondered about how we were going to preserve the fish that we catch. Neat that you mentioned that you had them quick freeze in town for the trip home. I learned so much in this video even more about tying off the boat to adjust to the high/low tide. AWESOME. Again thing you for sharing your families adventures.

    Gary watched this vlog today. His eyes were wide and he had a great smile on his face. When I asked him what was his favorite part he said "All of it". I had to explain what it would feel like if Mark's All most Record Breaking speared Salmon flew by the window in the Tallons of the Eagle. It would be the most unexpected ending to a good campfire story. A GOOD OL, o schucks story. When you said 75lbs worth of Salmon, I think it clicked how big it must have been. What a bountiful trip. It was so much fun hanging out with your Beautiful Family. The Beach combing was so much fun

      One day Mark took his friend Jerry to the cabin for a really quick trip to fix something on the boat. They got an octopus and were so excited! They cleaned it and put it in a gallon ziploc bag to take home and set it on the porch. A few seconds later an eagle flew by and grabbed it and flew away!! I had forgot about that story until I just read this. Thank you so much for spending time with us!

      Question- do you know how Mark's parents ended up finding Soldovia/decided to build their cabin there all those years ago? Like did someone take them there or tell them about it originally or was it just somewhere they sort of stumbled across during their own adventures?

  • @rougefox9233
    @rougefox9233 4 месяца назад

    Lauren, you now can bring your big basin tub into the shower house to bathe for more privacy. 😅
    P.S. You need to all carry on you a Thermacell Portable Mosquito Repeller, I heard they work pretty good at keeping the Alaska state bird at bay. 😉 Also, I watched a sushi chef fillet salt water fish, he said to try to not use any fresh water after cutting the fish because it will start to break down the flesh causing to to be mushy or less firm, you can even see the reaction if you have to rinse the fish with fresh water then it will immediately start to change the color of the flesh, & if you do then put it into some salt water as it will firm back up the flesh. So, Im wondering when you package your salt water fish catch, if you added salt water instead of fresh water to the baggie before freezing if it would make a difference in the quality of your fish.. Test it out. The channel of the sushi chef is Outdoor Chef Life. He sometimes travels to Alaska to film & now has a condiment product made with Alaskan kelp & chili oil available on amazon & other stores. 😊

    I think that was my favorite video ever! My husband and I always wanted to live in Alaska. We live in NH. We have been looking the last few years to find a getaway cabin just like that. Only we don’t have a plane or boat lolGreat video.👍🏻💓
