Catching up on some older footage, my have the boys changed in the span of a year! The section where you spoke about the 'choosing if you are all in' mindset really resonated with me, and feel like it is something I will likely hold onto and draw back on in future scenarios and aspects of my life. Our lives and circumstances are completely different (single parent in rural Aus), but it hit all the feels. Thank you for sharing a small part of your families lives through your content. And thanks for saving me from boredom while stuck on strict bed rest following eye surgery (if i hold the phone in just the right position and squint just right im good lol)

I love making desserts with canned biscuits. When my ex and I were together he was a gotta have dessert kinda guy, me nah. So I would mix some powdered sugar, milk and vanilla to make a glaze. Then take scissors and 1/4 the biscuits, fry them and toss in the glaze. He loved them and now I do the same for our daughter. God Bless y'all!

Goodness Mark had his hands full.
If you go visit AWP vlog you will see a portable frame to rest boat on to transfer to water. The wheels remove and basically the shape of two cross members and two longer sides.

I just found your video today and was very interested in it, I worked for my parents two spring/summer seasons in a row in the Yukon at a gold mine camp, I cooked and cleaned the bunkhouses for the drillers, let me tell you, I was so she’ll shocked by the way of life up north, I was born and raised a city gal so when I got thrown into this life (due to my moms serious medical condition that had her hospitalized and unable to fulfill her contract) holy smokes!! I never worked so hard and at times without the modern conveniences and being hours away from civilization other than our crew I can honestly say I was scared to death sometimes!!!! I never seen a bear in real life before let alone huge grizzlies right in our camp! Driving on camp roads only wide enough for one vehicle with pull outs if you come across another vehicle approaching you, driving four hours one way to pick up food supplies and paying the crazy high prices!! I give you credit for living the Alaskan lifestyle

    • @ThisAlaskaLife

That all sounds so extreme. What an experience!! We enjoy the Alaska city life with little stints of camping. I am not sure I am cut out for what you experienced. Amazing. Thanks for sharing.

I love how you're LDS and willing to share on youtube. I have a coworker who asks me questions about the church because of a client of ours. She tells me "the client said that you can tell who is LDS" I told her that wasn't always the case, I cant always tell and here I am watching and couldn't tell. I came to your channel with your costco haul. Put a smile on my face.

I love watching you and how you model your faith and love for your savior. It's funny how we see things and pick up things just from watching people. As you talk about Matk going on missions trips I got the impression that you were LDS, but what made me think it more was the fact that all 5 of your guys always wear crisp white shirts to church and not just bright colored dress shirts. That always reminds me of the LDS missionaries on their bikes riding around. I love watching all your videos and seeing how you live and how close your families are. I grew up in Homer Michigan and I now live in California. I moved her 24 years ago.

You are living the life I wanted too!!! My Dad wanted a boy, he got me, I was the only one, so I went fishing, hunting, all the things, we mostly had wild game and fresh veggies on the table. As a teen, I was eyeing the Yukon and Alaska as places to settle down and raise children. Unfortunately, I came here as a late life single Mom and it took all of the energy I had to raise children here on my own, I love what you are doing, keep it up! I am living the dream through you (even though I am actually in Alaska now) 😉🥰

Great job, keep the videos coming. My husband and I loved Alaska when we visited a few years ago. If my husband had his way, we'd move there. I can't stand the thought of missing my grandkids to do it.

I love how you summed up our faith, beliefs, and how we strive to live as much like Jesus as possible!! I’m so glad to see you talk about being Mormon.
I know you don’t talk about it much but I think this is a great opportunity for you to be able to educate others who might be curious or don’t understand it by just living your lives!! Anyone who isn’t familiar can see how you don’t have stress, financial problems, relationship issues, disrespectful kids, while always staying busy!!

Hi Lauren, I've really enjoyed finding out more about your brilliant Alaska life, it makes my Scottish life seem very tame. I've had relatively few adventures compared to you. I think I've only had 3 that compare. Around 16yrs ago I travelled to Antarctica via Buenos Aires and the Falkland Islands on an expedition holiday....it was the most wonderful experience. One of the guides was from Alaska, she worked as a wildlife ranger and was really knowledgeable. When I was doing the field work for my BSc thesis I spent a month living in the Post Office bothy(cabin) on the Isle of Rhum. Rhum is one of the small isles of the Inner Hebrides off the West coast of Scotland. I feel very lucky to have been there when I was as they were trying to re-populate Scotland with the Sea Eagle. They were very successful and now, 30 yrs later the species has been re-established and doing well. Third and last I walked the West Highland Way, a trek from Glasgow to Fort William. 96 miles of some of the most beautiful scenery in Scotland..great fun. This has turned into a bit of an essay rather than just a comment but this video of yours has made me reflect on my own wilderness experiences and how much fun they were. Keep up the good work Lauren and blessings to you and Mark and your wonderful boys xx

Thanks for encouraging me to be "All in" and find where my role is in life's struggles, situations and Blessings. Embracing what is given, persevering, and being patient in the answer. I have learned in life, we can sometimes isolate but we really do long for Community. Lauren Thank you for showing all the beautiful Flowers, your precious joys of Family, acknowledging your Knight and Shining Armour, sharing that Gyros(yum), and just reaching out to us, it means so much to have a Friend in you, such a gift of Joy. And Hunter, you are the most amazing Fisherman, 70Ib Halibut, wow. Bennett, you are such a great athlete, so impressed with your zeal for a challenge. Weston, sweetie, I loved watching you swim in the wet suit, it was so sweet to watch your Dad and Mom gaze upon you with Amazement, you are really growing up. And sweet wise Everett, you are rocking this summer in greatest way, thanks for taking us on the imaginary rafting trip. What an Adventure. And Thank you Mark, Alaskan Boy of Lauren's Heart. You have helped expand the opening of God's love in her heart, she has been able to allow that love to be given to All she meets. I am just so thankful and joyful you are all in Gary and I life. It is truly a Blessing. Big Hugs.

Haven't made these in years. When I took Home Ec back in 1972 (yes, I'm that old), we twisted the large pieces once before frying them. These were called buttons and tie knots (or something like that). EDIT::: Went to my kitchen cupboard to pull out my old recipe box from my 1972 Home Ec class because I was pretty sure I still had that recipe card in there. Yup. They were called Buttons and Bowknots. I was close! This recipe card is over 50 years old. I'm guessing they didn't have these canned biscuits back then. Our recipe took 2 c bisquick, 2 Tbsp sugar, 1 tsp nutmeg, 1/8 tsp cinnamon, 1/3 c milk, 1 egg, 1/4 c melted butter, 1/2 c sugar. Mix first 5 ingredients. Beat vigorously 20 strokes. Round up dough on lightly floured cloth covered board. Knead 5 times. Roll 1/2" thick, Cut with floured doughnut cutter. To make bowknots, hold opposite sides of each ring with fingers and twist to form figure "8". Place "holes" (Buttons) and "Bowknots" on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 8 to 10 mnutes at 400. When out of oven, dunk in melted buter than roll in sugar. Eat while hot. And there you have it. My 1972 Home Ec recipe for Buttons and Bowknots.
