There were indeed numerous previous versions. At least three issues in fact. The third issue of these was printed in 1982. They are very rare now. It was the same size and a similar format as 'Survive to Fight' with a lot of the same content. It did not have a plastic cover though. It was called - NBC Survival Task Book.
I still have my NBC instructors manual and the NBC medical instructors manuals. This was when the combo pen still had the 5mg of diazapam in the cap. So gased with nerve agent required taking out the pack, opening the tiny cap with the pervert gloves on taking out the tablet. Then breaking seal on resi to get a tiny yellow tablet in your mouth whilst holding your breath. Them inject the combopen. All after you'd blot, banged and rubbed DKP. COLPRO training was like heading cats too. my naps in the first gulf were dated 1976 I think.
In the event of a nuclear blast, lie face down boots towards blast ina shallow shell scrape, doesnt help you survive one bit, but make the place look tidier afterwards
I always remember this being amongst my Dad's equipment after he came off TACEVAL exercises, back in the Eighties. Used to leaf through the pages out of curiousity.
This is the one issued to me as a Junior Soldier. I still have it with another book Basic Battle Skills. We spent 2 weeks in mid 80s on a NATO exercise on a train in Germany doing a CAS VAC EXECISE, the whole time in NBC KIT.
Army Code No.71338 Survive to Fight… If you NEVER seen Rocking Horse 🐎 💩… Well look no further 😂 I think I ever saw one or two of these in my time in the Army 😂
Being realistic, this was probably the worst waste of money by the Govt to produce this for "EVERY" soldier in the Army, Navy and Air Force. When issued this in BAOR, we all thought .....WHY. We had our NBC Training 6 monthly any way. Then in 86 it was irrelevant, we had the S10.

Where I first learned to use the words defecation and blot bang rub, without sniggering……😂😂
My very first Facebook background was the diagram of Task No. 17.

The RAF used Common Core Skills Pamphlet issued in the early 1990s which came in the same folder.

It was very healthy and clean, it was just rusted, so I gave it a knife to clean it
Whole generations of Squaddies sniggering like schoolboys with Task 17!
