- Converting a video to text can be a very time consuming task, especially if you have a long video to transcribe. But what if you could use a program to do it for you? In this video, I'll show you how to do it by using OBS studios and using a plugin called OBS captions plugin. I'll also show you how to you can edit the .srt subtitle file and upload it to RUclips.
A shout out to ratwithacomplier for making this plugin for OBS Studios 👍

Thank you, brother. An immense help.
Can I send the final product video to an insant messanging platform for a platform that doesn't supoort SRT? Will the video show up with subtitles?
I tried copying the google caption plugin to the obs studio 64 bit folder in windows but it is not copying without showing any error. I tried couple of times. Can you help please?
bro, one question, i downloaded the plugin as shown in the video, it doesn't show up in the toolbar, but it shows up in the obs folder.
Same for me. I rebooted OBS and my computer just in case but no change. How can we access it ?
Samething its thins not showing in the tools section in Windows
it goes into the plugins folder 64bit. then restart obs and it will be in the docking section and the tools section.
It creates the srt file but it is empty. What am I doing wrong?
Hi David. Sorry to hear about the issue. Can you check your OBS caption settings to see if captioning is enabled? Please see the screenshot. imgur.com/TMz1MPn
I had to re-enable the plugin for it to start working, and keep the preview window closed.
When I used vlc to watch back the video I did not have the subtitles.... the video was great it just didn't work for me
Hi Shae. I believe the subtitles are not embedded to the video. On VLC you'll need to load the .srt file by going to "subtitles" and click on "Add Subtitle File."
@@simonseditverse is it possible to do a live translation into another language using OBS? if yes, can you show me how.
Hi Nk. I believe so, but I'll need to check OBS again to confirm. I'll do some testing.
@@nkaldo2614 Hi NK Aldo. Sorry for the late response. After doing some more testing and research, it does not appear the OBS closed caption plugin will allow live translation. Their github page showed an open request for this feature to be added.
