I’m not a bass player, but I love this. Mike is such a critical component to Green Day’s sound, especially on the earlier albums. I just wish his backing vocals were easier to hear.
Mike is killing it especially in "Welcome to Paradise" 🤘

I'm solely focusing on the speed and explosiveness of punk drumming compared to the slow groove of metal that Tool does.
I mean, Tré literally does more fills in 4 bars than Danny does in a whole song.
Now stretch that out over 30 years of performing for both bands... It's obvious to see how playing punk would be more exhausting.

All I could think while watching this live on TV was wow, what an incredible mix… so much that I had to find a re-stream on RUclips. This is one of the best televised rock mixes I’ve heard in a long time, and Mike’s bass mix sounded superb.
I'm an audio engineer and when I heard the "dilemma" mix I thought it HAD to have been overdubbed it sounded that good. Was this all a live mix?
@@mick9708 Just found something weird, if you look closely at 1.56 in the DILEMMA video, not this one, you can see the drum fill doesn't match up. So I guess that means it's overdubbed.
the dilemma performance is also the first time i've seen them use a click track, ever. idk if it has anything to do with the overdubbing but yeah. kind of a bummer

The mix starts off a little different and kicks in about 45 to 55 seconds in. and then it rocks. IMHO

It's crazy how tight they are. What's even crazier is that they were always this good. I was listening to Kerplunk-era shows the other day and they were just as tight in 1992 as they are in 2024.

I remember my college days in the 90's, Green Day is one of my favorite punk rock band. Good to see them again. At that age, they can still rock the crowd well! ❤

Man Billie sounds great this whole set! I always knew GD was a great band, and they got a lot of shit for becoming as popular as they did, but good songwriting is just good songwriting, those songs were destined to be huge. Glad to see these boys still together and WHAT A RHYTHM SECTION. Those guys rip.

No other band from the 90s has held up this well except mayyyybe Radiohead. And Billie Joe might give James Hetfield a run for his money for best rock guitar slinging frontman. These guys are legends.
Blink-182 has held up fairly well, but Billie Joe and James are definitely top tier with vocals
