Tchaikovsky's haunting Lullaby, often heard in its piano transcription, sung here by Ukrainian-American soprano Hanna Golodinskii. It is the first of the Six Romances in op. 16, written in Moscow in 1872 and 1873. This first was dedicated to Nadezhda Rimskaya-Korsakova.
Performed May 14, 2017 in The Drozdoff Society's Impromptu Classical Music Recital Series' inaugural event at Stamford's "Fish" Church's Fellowship Hall under the auspices of Highland Green Foundation and Fish's Music Director, James Wetherald. The piano is a Mason & Hamlin C.

Amazing. One of the most beautiful voices I've ever heard. And the music is as mysterious as an old old lullaby.

One of my favorite of all songs. (And it's in the strange key of A-flat minor, as are both Pabst's and Rachmaninoff's transcriptions of Tchaikovsky's original.) Beautifully performed by both! (Here are the lyrics: www.lieder.net/lieder/get_text.html?TextId=32313 .)
