Hey everyone! How's your car running after you cleaned the MAF sensor? Have you noticed a smoother ride and better idle? Feel free to leave a tip 😊💲VENMO: @GarageDynamics
Best video ever on MAF sensor and air deflector not only taking your time while explaining details not to mention the process removing and replacing the MAF is much better and different from several other videos I have watched IMHO. Thanks... And no one ever mentioned the pink dot LOL.
Just wanted to say thank you. I was starting to experience a slight rough idle from time to time. Engage trouble shooting mode. Of course I came to your channel first. I first tried the MAF spray, and that did help, but didn't solve my problem. Step two was changing all the spark plugs as well as a new MAF sensor. I also added Liqui Moly Jectron fuel injection cleaner. That solved all my problems. Just needed to express my many thanks for your videos.
Hello Kevin Kelker! Wow! That's awesome! I'm glad you solved the issue and you're car is running smooth again! 🙌 It's always a pleasure to be of service to you :)
Nice work. You can also spray the sensor in place. I would suggest pulling the TB as well, a bit more work but you'll do a better job of cleaning plus be able to install a new base gasket. Also, if theres oil in the hose to the elbow that's indicative of a failing pcv separator. Replace the pcv separator assembly. You don't want oil coking inside the TB or inside the intake on the runner flaps.
Great video! I had to remove the MAF sensor to change out the 5-way vacuum fitting just in front of the MAF housing. Viewers might want to replace this and the breather hoses hoses while the MAF sensor is out.
You’re awesome 👏. You help me save a lot of money. You can’t believe this, a vehicle mechanic asked me to pay him $375.00 part and labor to replaced the MAF sensor. After watching this video, I fixed the MAF and car my run smoothly. All I did was cleaning. 👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿🙏🙏🙏🙏Thank you
I assume if you just need to clean the MAF sensor you can just remove it and not the whole assembly to get to the throttle body? I mean just unclip the MAF from the electrical connector and bottom bracket leading to the throttle body?
Hi Efe Evue, Yes you can. I would recommend to wait 10-15 minutes before turning on and starting the car just to make sure any traces of liquid residue has evaporated first.
Can I remove the engine cover and spray the sensor? Also have you used seafoam? I was thinking about buying some and pouring it in the gas tank whenever I need to fill up again
Hello Nick, Yes, if you're in a hurry you can just remove the engine cover and spray some MAF or Electronics parts cleaner on the sensor. Regarding Seafoam, I have never used Seafoam on a mercedes engine. I have used BG44K Platinum right before I started a 2,500 mile road trip in the Mercedes S500 and it ran great! For BG44k you just need to apply it to the fuel tank. One bottle treats a full tank. Hope this helps. Cheers!
Hello Alexie Diaz! I recommend cleaning the MAF sensor every 10,000 miles and also when you change the air filters. Another way to tell if it's time to clean the MAF sensor is when the engine shakes a bit more than usual at idle. Keep in mind though that engine shake can be for a number of reasons, but sometimes cleaning the MAF sensor helps. Cheers!
I wouldn't recommend pushing open the throttle it is very sensitive but the best method is to grab ahold of long enough stick that can fit from the seat of your car to push the pedal down to get a better cleaning of the throttle or if you have someone to do so would work best lol 👊😷👍
I find my connector is really hard to remove, I'm a bit scare to wiggle it. Can't disconnect it... Are there any tip? is it really that hard to remove?
Hello V R, Not to my knowledge. I would double check with the people over at mbworld.org/forums/ I've cleaned my throttle body and plate many times and the car only runs better :) I hope this helps. Cheers!
@@GarageDynamics i was under the impression that electronic throttle bodys can be damaged if you push in the plate for cleaning thats why they are best removed trust me i dont want to go through all that if i can press the plate and not break it i was delighted when i saw you do it that way i just wanted to double check
SkipArtPictures I have 2010 merc gl450, I live in St Kitts I have to fly in engineer from Puero RICO, done it twice after he goes I'm left with another problem, racing radiator fan is the latest, as you have been asked before would I be ok to clean without removing please
hey, the mass air flow sensor bracket on my 02 c240 mercedes is broke and i've looked everywhere on the internet for a new or atleast a used one and can't find nothing. do you have any ideas where i could get one?
Can you help me..? I bought a MB 190 E 2.3 16 from Spain and brought it top Mexico City, the problem is alttitude, therefpre the car is not idling proper, from sea level to 8000 feet above sea level, the old opwner tells me to find this little like clock to settle the new alttitude but i can´t find it, not where the batterie is neither around the headlights, where he told me too.. please.. HELP¡¡¡¡
Hello Alberto Calderon, I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your car. I'm not familiar with the 190 E 2.3 16. I recommend you visit mbworld.org/ Everyone on that forum is very knowledgeable and can help you fix your car.
Hello EdtheRaiderfan Cunningham, The top part of the MAF has a metal screen that is built into the MAF. It's also there to protect against damage to the MAF sensor. It is very delicate and just touching it with too much pressure can possibly damage it. I hope this helps. Cheers!
@GarageDynamics thank you for the response. I went ahead and changed the whole unit as suggested along with my fuel pump and filter along with my crankshaft position sensor. Car kept shutting off while driving. It seems fine now, but it's only been a couple of days. 🙏🙏🙏
@@MrEdtheraiderfan You're welcome! That's awesome! Yeah, for some reason I know with the S500, at 150k the crankshaft position sensor goes out and the car will shut off at idle, or fuel cut while driving, giving it the feeling like you are stepping on the brakes while driving. I hope all is well now and you get lots of good fun mileage out of your Mercedes 🙏🙏🙏
Hello sir. Just wanted to update you on my 2006 S500. It seems that all the work I had done didn't stop my problems with the car stalling. I really don't know what to do now. The vehicle doesn't act up nearly as much as before, but it will cut off still while idling. Two days ago, the car cut off while driving on the freeway. If you have any additional advice, I'd appreciate it. Have a good one bro...
+iris lopez Hi! Yes, You can spray your MAF sensor while its still connected to the throttle body (assuming you have removed your air box). I would just recommend that you hold off on starting the car for at least 10 minutes. That will give the cleaner a chance to evaporate, so that it doesn't get pulled into your engine.

You can just as easily remove the MAF upper part# 280 217 810 by itself. Toss away the bracket. It's not needed and has been discontinued.
You make GREAT Instructional videos!!!! Please keep doing them for S500.

And that is cheap.
Yeah $375 is super cheap.. get back to me when they try charging you $5k for a job that costs $300 in parts that you can easily do yourself. Lol.

Outstanding video instruction. I was unsure about doing this until I saw your video. Thank you. DONE!

To maximize the hood opening, you don't need to pinch you finger pressing that "button" there a level you push on the inside of the support.
Thank you! 🙏
Great video... I love how you are detailed in your explanations.
Thank you Marshall W.! :)
Thank you. Helped me on my wife's ML500 W164. Same procedure.

You're welcome Vin Mega! I'm glad to hear the Prince is running strong!
Great. Works like magic.
Nice detailed video, but couldn't you just unscre the two bolts on the sensor and pull it out?
Really beautifully made video. Thank you so much!

Will cleaning the mass air flow make you car acceleration better or should i just change the throttle body have issues acceleration

Good video but I must say the v8 cars are a walk in the park compared to the V6 m112 engines. There is so little space to work with.

$5 everywhere NEW
Can someone please provide the part number for the breather hose shown in the video with the pink arrows that connects to the MAS body?

Is this hard???
Uh, unplug the MAF?
Wish u showed where its actually located lol
Also wish we were told about the throttle body and a bit more expansion on that
Let me tell you this process on the clk 500 is soo damn fucked, 😭😭😭
If it works...don`t touch it

Spraying silicone around a MAF sensor is not a good idea. Spray some on your finger and wipe it on the areas required.
