Justin Verlander is aging like fine wine
Hello
right about that
#HoustonStrong
Eyyup
That and roids
As an A's fan, we just cant escape JV no matter what we do. He haunted them in 3 DIFFERENT A'S ERAS. (The 2006 alcs team, 2012-13 alds, and was with the astros during the a's most recent playoff window.)
Yup its been hell
Sadly
As 🤣🤣🤣 You don't win WS with computers. Thanks for spoiling the game forever with sabermetrics 💩💩💩
Astros fan here, I can confirm, he is NASTY
Are you the only other a's fan besides me?
There was a time where Detroit had Verlander, Scherzer and Porcello in the same rotation...
Fun times for us tiger fans
Porcello was overrated af. Never shoulda won that Cy Young.
@WhysNot because there were years where they were in the same rotation and Porcello had better stats.. He later went on to win a Cy Young and a World Series... I mean believe me, I won't make the argument he's better or the best of the 3, but he definitely deserves to be remembered as an elite pitcher in a badass rotation at the time.
@@oljimeagle Elite is a bit of a stretch for Porcello. He was never elite but he did have a couple good years. The Cy Young was not deserved though, he never should of won it.
Bullpen always sucked
My favorite memory of JV is his first return to Comerica Park after the trade. Not only did the fans give their former star a standing ovation, Tiger management put together a highlight film of his career to honor him before his start.
And then he beat the Tigers.
To be fair, JV was very against Osuna joining the team initially. Then he had to move on because Osuna was on the team regardless.
Verlander could legitimately have like 3 or 4 cy youngs if the voters weren’t incompetent
Sometimes there are better pitchers in the year a fan base thinks their guy should have won. Nolan Ryan holds the MLB strikeout record and had seven no - hitters, and he never won a Cy Young award.
@@bl18ce99 Ryan got screwed cuz they cared a lot more about wins then and he never had the run support that other players had. Definitely deserved one. Glad they've moved away from that nowadays
When he lost to Rick Porcello on the Red Sox that was complete bullshit
He should be getting his 3rd this year. Only the young stud from Tampa, McClanahan is in his way.
He doesn't need the Cy Young, he's got Kate Upton all the trophies he needs
As an Astro fan, landing verlander was one of if not arguably the best move the Stros have made in the past decade
Probably one of the best moves the franchise has ever made
The Yordan and Josh fields trade is up there too
can you say that again? i couldn't hear. someone is banging on a trashcan
Cheaters
@@soxnotsocks Ah yes, that has a lot to do with Verlander lmao clown
Verlander is unstoppable!!! Easily the Cy Young winner at this point.
He is one random drug test away from a lifetime ban.
@@early_crypto_investor4451 you don’t know how baseball works 😂😂
@@Jjfortyfive o yes I do the only sport I watch and has been for decades. The only thing I find funny here is watching your mom get out of the shower.
No he is not
It’s more probable that Judge is.
I thought Strasburg was the next Nolan Ryan but It seems like Justin Verlander is!
Strasbourg got lazy after that contract post World Series.
maybe if Strasburg didn’t get injured all the time
Verlander is the most old school pitcher the game has currently.
Absolutely not. Justin Verlander is *CLEARLY* a better pitcher than Nolan Ryan. No question, whatsoever.
I'm not a very sentimental fan.. but I'll always have a soft spot for JV. His 2011 was absolutely legendary and it was must see tv anytime he took the bump. Goddddd I miss when my Tigers competitive.
Al Avila needs to go. He’s awful
@@rich7787 Wish granted:)
These that are the owners now are only going to give you minor league competition.
JV is the man. Hope he can lead the Stros to a world series win this year
Anybody but NY
@@Redsoxman9991 Mets will be good, …. And Yankees their story same every year 🫤
This guy is not human! I think the tommy J surgery gave this guy another solid 5 years. It's crazy to this that he is only getting better closing on age 40! It goes well with the fact that he only gets better and throws flames the later the game gets. Definitely a legend in my book.
1. You acknowledge he didn’t cheat.
2. You severely overestimate the influence he has on an organization
3. “Became the very thing he swore to destroy” could you tone it down on the cringe drama lol
4. Turned a blind eye to them acquiring osuna
Last I checked Hes not the GM lmfaooo
Holding him responsible for it is beyond ridiculous.
And I say that as a survivor of domestic violence.
I’ve seen you make 2 videos calling him a hypocrite on the topic but haven’t seen you make a video about Osuna 🥴🥴🥴 you know actually criticizing the perpetrator of the domestic violence.
You have a “voice” too dude lmfao
Verlander had a lingering core injury at one point. It very much lingered and limited him. He pitched through it to his credit even though it really hurt certain pitches.
To be clear, His comments made in his 2019 Cy Young speech were not wise cracks. He was being sincere. Crediting how they were the 1st team that started using high speed cameras to slow his pitching motion down and pick out any flaw in his mechanics they could find. They also dove way deeper into analytics than Detroit ever did and basically told him to completely stop throwing his 2-seam fastball because his ERA was at it's worst when he threw it instead of his 4-seam.
This guy is aging in reverse
Steroids help with that.
GigaChad Verlander defying time and logic.
As a Res Sox fan I tip my hat to Verlander he has been an absolute Yankee killer in the post season 52.1 innings pitched 57 k's and his teams have gone 5-0 in series played. Game 2 complete game, 13 k's in 2017 ALCS against New York was one of the best pitching performances I've seen.
And then look at his record in the World Series 0-6 with 5.68 might be the worst World Series pitcher of all time.
@@alwillk yea that World Series record is tough.
Cy young this year no question
Only question is will he get a random drug test if so than lifetime ban
@@early_crypto_investor4451 Schizo?
No
If he doesn’t have another bad start, he has a real chance at the cy young
Who you got if he does? Honest question
@@ByGraceThroughFaith777 i would say shane mclanahan
@@ByGraceThroughFaith777 at the start of July I really thought McClanahan was going to be the one in the AL, now I’m all in on verlander. The rays really need to start backing McClanahan up with some runs and the Astros would need to do the opposite when Verlander is pitching for him to have a shot against JV right now.
Dylan Cease
@@ByGraceThroughFaith777 Dylan Cease for sure, leads mlb in strikeouts and has a 1.98 era
The Tigers struck a deal with the Astros.. and screwed us Yankee fans for the foreseeable future! Lol! I swear we still can’t beat that guy! Kudos to Justin though !
Great video but two things. I'm not defending Osuna but Canadian laws and burden of proof are *much* different than here in the US. Also, the reason JV didn't throw out the World Series first pitch was 100% on Correa. Everyone else on the team mostly understood why he was away during rehab but Carlos threw a temper tantrum (which, ironically, is one of the reasons why they let him walk).
Just curious, where did you hear the part about Correa?
@@stevenwoods5787 Houston radio. Pretty sure it was from Matt Thomas and/or guest.
Actually, Crane took out an insurance police on JV, and it said he couldn't be on the field or in the stands until he was ready to come back..Thats why JV wasn't there..
@@sandiasjes8785 wut?
I really despise Juan Soto and that shuffle of his. It's crazy to me that people praise that kind of crap in sports now.
Just so wonderful for someone who’s an absolute nerd for statistics (any and all). He’s just a complete anomaly. Had one of the most dominant primes in history right during the typical, late twenties, had a multi year period where he appeared to have regressed (though still good), and now over the last three years he’s pitched are arguably his most dominant yet (‘18, ‘19, ‘22). A shame that we missed two years of this Cy Young incarnate in ‘20, ‘21.
Similar to Roger Clemens
Let's not forget he also landed Kate Upton. Legend.
I remember when he was a little more than a rookie seeing him and thinking this guys is going to be one lf the greats. I had the same feeling when i saw big pappy playing here in DR with the Escogido team. GO Licey!
His most impressive accomplishment was landing Kate Upton. Oh, and his baseball career hasn't been bad either 😁
I can promise you that all Astros fans were pissed about the Osuna signing. It was a terrible move by the GM after literally giving up prospects (I could've sworn it was two guys) for the exact same shit.
Great video, crazy timing posting a similar video about Verlander within 5 minutes of one another. Great minds think alike⚾️

His former girlfriend (Emily?) was way hotter.
Would be sweet to get an update on this one.
:)
He needs that WS win to cement his status as the top pitcher of the generation. 0-6 sorta sucks. Needs to be clutch in the final stages
Verlander was pitching game 1 of the world series. Pablo Sandoval had a good eye and defended home plate with lots of fowls. Verlander's pitch count was almost 90 at the end of the 3 rd inning. After losing that game Detroit folded and got swept. TIgers looked depressed. It was cold and rainy in S.F. and DET. It looked like the tigers just lost heart and gave up because of game 1 and the weather.
Miss him in a Tigers uniform
He is the top pitcher of his generation. Even above Kershaw and Scherzer. I felt that way even before his surgery. This year solidifies it in my opinion.
Above Kershaw?
Verlander is great - no question - but Kershaw is almost right there with Koufax as the all-time Dodger pitcher. A great w/l %, with a lifetime ERA < 2.50, albeit yes, in the NL.
@@jamesanthony5681 Verlander has the best arm of the generation. Kershaw has unbelievable stats but those are only in regular season, whereas Verlander was an absolute force all these years and winning CY young the last time he pitched and will probably win this year as well.
@@viveknamikaze761 Both will end up in Cooperstown, obviously, and yes, Verlander will likely win the CY this season.
What stands out with Kershaw is his career ERA of 2.49, and that's incredible in this era. Off the top of my head, in the past 50 years, only 5 starting pitchers were elected to Cooperstown with an ERA under 3.00: Whitey Ford, Koufax, Gibson, Seaver and Pedro. That tells me how well Kershaw has pitched, especially with men on base. His ERA is almost 1/2 run better than Pedro, and better than all those I mentioned.
Future hall of famer
I grew up a Tigers fan watching him since he wom rookie of the year. In his prime no one else had more swing and miss stuff.
He’s still in his prime. Dude has a 1.80 ERA & 17 wins on the year.
There use to be a lot of pitchers that went well into thier 40s I feel like that has disappeared. Maybe Verlander has more tread left on the tires than we expected
ok its a stretch to say the Osuna and that Astro minor leaguer were the same. I saw the video of that dude beat the shit out of his girl in a stairwell. Idk if I'm missing a lot of details but the body cam of Osuna looked like he was pushing her away, then the cop comes in and he drops his (or her) phone and the wife then picks it up to walk away. He didn't beat the shit out of her it looked to me was a push and fighting over possession of the phone which he easily did without causing her damage . It is a very big stretch to act like those are the same thing, not condoning Osuna actions but come on those arent even close to the same.
If i saw the one stairwell in person im stepping in and kicking that dudes ass immediately, if i saw the Osuna thing first hand id walk on and mind my own business, especially with the other guy friend kinda watching the situation.
Two things on your criticism of Verlander…
1. He comments on sign stealing are irrelevant. He said it’s bad for the game, but that doesn’t mean he wasn’t already on a team doing it. As many players have since come forward and admitted, most teams have been involved in doing the same things the Astros were doing.
2. The minor league incident was on film and you could clearly see what the guy did. To this day, no one knows what actually happened with Osuna. The charges were dropped, and the woman refused to testify. It’s two completely different scenarios that aren’t dependent on each other.
If you want to talk about hypocrisy, why was ok for the Yankees to acquire Chapman, but so horrible for the Astros to acquire Osuna?
The first time I saw the guy pitch I knew he was headed to Cooperstown. It’s amazing to still see him at the top of his game like this. Too bad he doesn’t have more Cy Youngs in the closet. However the American League has had some real flame throwers the last decade and more that’s he’s in the NL with the other 2 best pitchers in our era makes this an even more compelling situation. In the famous words of Joe Girardi in 2010 “It’s the time of the pitcher right now”
Justin Verlander is the Better Nolan Ryan!
Verlander being so great made the Juan Soto home run that much more awesome. The funnest world series I have ever seen
Verlander definitely creeping up on all time great status
And he threw a great game against Cleveland tonight as well
JV isn't the only old dog still kicking ass on the mound. Scherzer, Wainwright, and Kershaw all come to mind when you think of seasoned veterans dominating on the mound.
Scherzer had like 3 starts and Kershaw is having a decent year, not a great one. Wainwright and Verlander are horses.... Will pitch day in and out the whole year.
@@viveknamikaze761 one I forgot to mention is having a pretty good year is Johnny Cueto. He's been around for awhile and he's struggled the past few years but he's doing alot better this year.
@@Truckerdaddy For sure, like the funky deliveries. Dude's been a horsethis year for CWS
@@viveknamikaze761 most definitely.
all i can say is with debris injury history the mets dodged a bullet not extending degrom like he asked.
Verlanders 2011 season was a thing of beauty
Go Stros! Verlander is the man!
We miss JV here in Detroit
Detroit sucks 💩💩💩 Your old man done everything that could be done. And u couldn't gift him a WS ring. He died
Little did we all know this man would go on to marry the hottest chick in the universe.
And has the hottest wife in baseball
My initials are JV too!
I guess i missed the season when JV fell off.. iDumbStudios is losing brain cells each and every video
He’ll win comeback player of the year and AL cy young
As a Yankee Fan who feels personally slighted by the 2017 and 2019 Astros, I do also truly believe that the Astros were the scapegoat for a much broader scandal going on in the league at the time
As a Giants fan, I can not believe we whooped his ass in that world series.
Same
Verlander and scherzer are pretty much the last of the real pitchers in MLB.
Now, when a pitcher goes 6 innings they act like thats a complete game.
As of August 6th of this year, Verlander has pitched 130 innings in 20 starts, so he is averaging less than 7 innings per start.
@@rodneyfoster9719 he's also 39...even at that age he's pitching more then pitchers in there 20s
@@rodneyfoster9719 He can go more if required, just that Dusty wants to save him for the WS when they make it.
I'm 0-2 against him in real life, but I've gotten so many hits off of him in MLB The Show and I've bought and sold him so many times..... Who ended up owning who really?
you faced JV IRL? did you play in the major leagues?
@@schmuglbubcam probably high school
@@schmuglbubcam It was high school and American Legion, but it was joke.. He was already topping out at 95 with a mid 80s curveball.. Nobody was hitting him...
@@oljimeagle I faced a kid like that in HS. Absolutely untouchable. He got drafted by Boston but went to Yale and became a lawyer instead.
So an example of hypocrisy would be if JV said I refuse to play for a team that steals signs not just that he thought it could be bad. Also, calling out someone after your team releases them is not the same as calling out someone who your team signs (also not hypocrisy because he didn't say he supports Osuna)
I started watching Baseball and more specifically the Tigers in 2012, holy shit did Detroit have an absolutely stacked team in that era, so sad they never got the World Series win but damn they had a insane few years.
Can we get a rise and fall video on Miggy???
Perfect candidate
So you just recycled a video from last year where you called him the biggest hypocrite?
There was a time when I wanted to believe that he is better than Kershaw even though I suspected otherwise, but Jacob deGrom has finally sealed the deal on that one.
As a Dodgers fan, I was so tired of seeing Kershaw blow so many postseasons then using that low, stupid, indifferent voice at every interview afterward.
Someone is going to write, "they won the 2020 one." Yeah, they nailed it on the asterisk World Series. Good for them. Kershaw almost blew that one too during the Braves series.
It’s possible he may be the last pitcher to eventually reach 300 wins.
Idk he's at 241 right now. He's going to have to pull a Tom Brady to get there but he has said he wants to pitch into mid 40s
JV is likely going to be the AL CY Young winner this year, the guy is a fuckin freak and the way he is playing is beyond unexpected .
Come on man the rumor about the teammates not wanting him to throw out the first pitch is complete bullshit. There wasn’t one reputable source when that broke
As to the Osuna point, there was not a video of it. Kinda important to note
Astros got a big steal only paying him 25 mil this season
did they? Remember, they paid him last year and the year before that.
He's pitched for the losing team in 4 different world series, does that tie a record of some of the core on the 90's Braves?
Verlander didn't pitch in 2021
@@seth8844 Did not no that. If he hypothetically pitched, does that tie the record?
@@chicagodude8888 I'm not sure. But given that the Dodgers lost the world series 5 times from 1947-1956, someone on those teams could possibly have the record.
@@chicagodude8888 if he pitched in 2021, the Astros would have won the World Series.
@@mike-0451 He hasn't gotten a win in 7 tries pitching in the world series, with a 5.7 era. What makes you think last year would be any different?
Verlander is the Chad Meme of Baseball. Absolute winner In Life!
I don't know why Yankees never tried to get Justin Verlander before the Astros did.
The money he was owed was the most cited reason at the time
At that time the Astros had tons of prospects that excited Detroit (I don't think any of them panned out though)
Bet they regret it. Absolute Yankee killer.
Justin Verlander, is a bonafide
Winning pitcher. Very competitive -
Always. Iam a dodger fan - but you
Have to give credit - where credit

Do you have a business email?
I love how in the video, and the many other videos about other teams, you seem to never mention their sign stealing issues.. The many many other teams. Nata one word. Kinda like MLB, hmmm.. Wonder if you as well as baseball dont want that info to be broadcast out there.. Just keep the focus on the Astros.. No mention of the spidertac.. or steroids here in the last 3 years.. Nah just keep talking about the Astros.
verlander always has huge balls true statement i was there
I've seen the leaked Upton movies, not that huge actually
Id say pablo sandoval owned verlander before juan sotto
Ty for the bangers lately baby.
Bang bang🗑😂
He is still 0-6 5.68 era in 7 WS starts. Would be 0-7 but Carlos Correa bailed him out with a 9th inning homer in 2017 WS.
He wins the third Cy Young he is a first ballot hall of famer 100%
I can't help but feel suspicious of this. For his age and coming back from Tommy John surgery...Makes me think of Roger Clemens to an extent and we know how that ended. Would not be surprised if he uses PEDs and/or spider tack like substance since they really stopped rigorously checking pitchers this season. That being said, still a crazy season >_>
Must be a yankees fan
Im pretty sure if he was cheating he woulda been caught a while ago
12:12 conversation? He’s gonna win it captain obvious
And the Tigers gave him up for practically NOTHING!!
If he gets to 250 wins he is hall of fame, difficult for pitchers now to get to 200 wins
15-3, 1.73 ERA 😀
If Kate Upton was your biggest fan, you 'd be resurgent a lot. LOL
My favorite Tiger of the past 20 years. Followed closely by Miggy.
Not an Astros fan at all. But the hype train on degrom over verlander is ridiculous. Degrom’s elite has been a very short window.
My favorite pitcher after Jack Morris, Randy Johnson & Nolan Ryan.
We are going to see a solid crop of pitchers make the HoF in the coming years. I can think of five to six shoe ins who are still pitching.
One of the worst MLB trades in recent memory. Of those 3 prospects the Tigers received, only 2 have played in the majors since 2017 totaling 146 games....for both players.
I remember his First Career Start, it was on ESPN after the Minor League Call-Ups. He had nasty stuff. There was another young pitcher on the staff.... Dam, what was his name.....?? Shit
I wonder if he’ll opt out of his contract after this year and get a bigger deal somewhere else? He could be one of the highest paid older players ever
How close would it be to Scherzer's contract with the Mets?
The Astros are really good again and again
Modern day Nolan Ryan
NO. NO. NO. Nolan Ryan was never as good as Verlander.
@@jamesanthony5681 I believe Verlander is better. I simply mean in terms of longevity and consistency
@@elcee3292 Verlander is better in all regards. He may not have the length of career and certainly not as many strikeouts as Ryan, but he's a better pitcher. At no point in Ryan's career could you say he was the best pitcher in either the AL or NL.
Verlander is going to win 20 this year. You watch. He's decided that Houston is where he wants to be, and that this team has the greatest chance of not just getting to the Fall Classic, but also winning it all. This is as great of a storyline as any in baseball this season.
Verlander has always been sketchy in post season. He has fell apart more than once with the Astros. He's like a box of Gump Chocolates.
Amazing video
You buried the lead..... Kate Upton😲😲😲😍😍😍😍
So his fall was just because health issues? The guys is a legend.
Hate to say it, but Verlander went to a team with… questionable morals in the Astros, and they loaded him up with illegal substances.
