They did the EXACT same thing with my iMac. I had a 2017 iMac that must’ve had some problem that they could not get to the bottom of... long story short ended up replacing it with a 2019 with some minor upgrades after say 6-8 months. I’m not very mad about it because that’s incredible and I’ve heard bad stories about other genius service not going too well. Zero is a good number to me.
I also bought a 15" in 2016, and had numerous issues with it. Overheating under normal loads, keyboard failures, cracking and popping sounds, you name it. After my third apple care appointment they also gave me a 2019 15" as well. Felt like a pretty big win to me personally. My new machine has been running perfectly, and actually had better specs than my old one. I now have the 8 core i9 2.3GHz rather than my old 6 core i7.
My boyfriend got me macbook as a birthday present not knowing it was on lock he was mad at his self not until I went scanning through RUclips and I was referred to fobtools on lnstagram and he helped unlocked my device in less than 30 min after he asked for my imel number
It happened to me as well. I have the email of an apple manager at apple care and every time I have 3 repairs I send him an email to request a whole replacement
Do you think you can also provide me with manager? I have constant problems with my MacBook and keep getting my same computer back with the same issue.
@@sam.michaelis You can just call apple care directly and ask tell them you're mac is always broken and you want to talk to a manager. After 3 repairs they should let you.
@@NomadicJulien I've had 3 new motherboards put into my 2011 15"... It's ancient now but I'm still hoping that someday, maybe, they'll just end up giving me a new one if this fourth motherboard fails. I'm pretty good at politely convincing them to help me out.
I’m annoyed because whenever I take my computer it takes over a week. The first time it took like 8 days and they damaged the screen (but they replaced it). I thought that was an usually long time but they really never seize to amaze me. Currently they have taken 18 days and ongoing to repair the keyboard for a second time. If it would take a day or two to fix it would be fine because I still have two more years of warranty but not having my computer (my only computer) for so long is extremely irritating.
It's called a CRU (Customer Replacement Unit). They happen way more frequently with the more expensive machines than you'd imagine. They generally base the replacement on cost of purchase for the original machine, even if it's a massive upgrade. During the 2011 15" MBP nightmare with the failing GPU we replaced machines left and right after they had been repaired a couple times for the same issue. Many people got 2016 MBPs if they lucked out with their repair timing. Heck of an upgrade for dealing with some crap for a few weeks.
not much chance of you replying. but i got a 2017 macbook pro here. top spec 15 incher. it has a few "crackily" keys that occasionally also does not register a press. any chance on me getting a exemption on the free top-case replacement? the device is already 4+ years old so past the program's coverage. i've seen people get exemptions though.
I've had 7 keyboard failures on my 2018 15" MBP (across 4 different machines due to them replacing it a few times) and they're now sending me a 2019 15" (core i9 version)
Did you do repairs through your local apple store or did you do them via their ship in for repair process, Just curious as to why they're sending you one instead of giving you one on the spot.
I actually got a new MBP after 3 replacements a couple of weeks ago . Manager at my local apple store was pretty cool about it. This current one gives me more issues and I’ll throw in the towel and calling it quits with any MacBooks.
I had something really similar happen. I had an iBook G3 for 3 years. It had the defective video chipset, and I had it replaced *5* times. It failed again 2 weeks before the 3 year replacement program was up, and I wound up sending it in again. I also emailed Steve Jobs about it. Imagine my surprise when a day later, I got a call from the office of Steve Jobs asking about my iBook. To make a long story short, they replaced my iBook G3 800Mhz/30GB/Combo with a brand new iBook G4 1.33Ghz/40GB/Combo. It was at least twice as fast as the old one, and had tons of upgrades. At that moment, they basically made me a customer for life.
I took my 2017 MacBook Pro in for repair. It was the high-end "stock" model. They exchanged it for one with a 1TB SSD. Not as cool as what you got, but still cool nonetheless.
It is the 512 gb, isn't it? Same like mine. My keyboard is failing and I planned to take it to the Apple store for the keyboard replacement program. How did you get the unit replaced instead?
Same thing happened to someone I know from church, his 2012 retina mbp was broken and the genius bar couldn't repair it so they just gave him a 2017 15 inch mbp.
Something wrong with my display its having booting issues it looks like the screen is broken but it’s not. They couldn’t find anything wrong with it so they took it to repair shop now I’m waiting to hear back. I hope they give me a brand new one I’ll be so so happy.
At this point i've watched a hundred of your videos in the last month, best Apple product channel in my opinion. Great vibes and I trust your judgment.
This video has been quite a ride! 7 months in the making lol! Was it even worth it? Don't forget to check out Dashlane while you're at it! Head over to www.dashlane.com/miani for 10% off premium and to get Dashlane for free on your first device! Also, a lot of people are saying 'its not free you paid for the first laptop', let's not forget I paid $2,900 3 years ago for a device which has since depreciated to about $1,600. This was replaced with a new $3,600 computer. Definitely a good trade
Apple did the same thing for my iPad Air 2 at the time , the battery after a year only lasted 20 minutes, I spoke to someone online and they said that they would replace the battery for a cost, £80 when I went in to the store , the guy said yeah the battery is totally gone, instead of replacing the battery they would just give me a brand new one for the £80 that the battery would cost , I just had to go through the deletion process and I got a new iPad Air 2 .
Same deal here. 2018 13 inch Macbook Pro had display artifact, touchbar freezing, Mushy keyboard and speaker crackling issues. After four genius Bar repairs, they just decided to replace mine with a 2019 13 inch MB pro model lol.
My 2016 top end model is dyyyyying as well. (That was an actuall keyyyy stick). Keyyboard is failing and flexgate is starting to hurt my screen, so I hope they give me a new one like yours
Make sure you document all the problems as thoroughly as possible like Luke did, and present them nicely to whoever helps you in the Apple store, that way you up your chances of them being nice to you
It's not free, you paid for a faulty macbook Pro, and they replaced it, they didn't give you a refund and a new computer also. SO YOU FINALLY GOT WHAT YOU PAID FOR.
I've always had good experiences with the people over at Apple. That said, I'm still using my 2007 MacBook Pro because of all the negative reviews in recent years of their newer laptops. They definitely built my model laptop well. I'm still using Photoshop and editing 1080p video with no problems. But forget about your laptop problems. Bro you make killer videos.
Hey Luke. Previous Genius here, Apple has/had a system for Customer Replacement Units. I've never heard of a unit not being able to have a repair logged as the issue has already been addressed... it sounds like the techs on your repair were confused or didn't reach out up the ladder for clarification. I'm glad this has been fixed, though.
I don't hate Apple, but one downside is that if something goes wrong it equals downtime. You are at the mercy of the Apple Store for all repairs and with the keyboard/stagelighting/etc the past few years have been an absolute nightmare. PC's don't have "the MacOS experience" but at least most problems can be solved with a few minutes and a screwdriver. I really, really want Apple to sort this out so I'll feel comfortable buying from them again.
I got a MacBook Air (2018) , got it in April and im using a protective layer for the keyboard...bought it on Amazon...I hope I don't get no issues and that its one way of avoiding the sticky keys problem
Goodness gracious! I’m not sure if this is a happy story or a horror story. I’m glad they rectified your computer issue, but gee whiz, wouldn’t it have been better if the original machine never failed. Good luck to you mate and thanks for making these excellent videos.
This happened to my 2009 MacBook. I had a screen flashing problem that no one ever admitted to. But they fixed it 3 times. Finally they gave me a new one off the shelf. Had an early 2009 - ended up with a Mid 2009.
Ok, now the strategy: Break your butterfly keyboard and get it replaced 4 times Go to the nearest Apple Store and complain about how many times you brought your laptop to the store and for how long your laptop has been away from you Want a laptop replacement Also, buy a Macbook Pro with unbalanced specs like a Core i7 with 2tb ssd so they will not be able to find the exact same specced laptop and give you a better specced one.
THIS HAPPENED TO ME! Far less smooth than you! I had a 2018 13" MacBook Pro 16GB 512GB I7. I was always super careful around my MacBook. Always free of dust and I never eat around it. Anyway, it had EIGHT, yes eight repairs. 6 keyboard replacements and then 2 display replacements (they broke the display twice when replacing the top case. After the 8th keyboard failed after 2 weeks of having it, I went into the store and i said that I want a new machine. They said that was 100% fine and they understood my situation. They put it in a bag and sent it away, I was due to get a m1 13" 16GB 512GB. 1 week, nothing, I called and they said they made a mistake with the order and ordered me one with 8GB instead of 16GB, and they said they would get it sorted and I would 100% have it within 3 days. 3 days passed, nothing, still no tracking info like I was promised. I called in every single day until 4 weeks had passed nothing. I was at a total loss. I ended up posting on reddit in total frustration as I hadn't had a MacBook for a whole month. A guy told me to email Tim Cook and explain everything, I thought that was silly but the next day someone called me, said they saw my email and said they are going to get the situation sorted. They took all of my details and got an order placed for me and it was die to be replaced the next day. Thew next day came, and the order was cancelled. This was because the M2 MacBook Pro just came out. I told him what happened and he said that he's more than happy to give me an M2 MacBook Pro and he would bump the storage to 2TB for all of my inconveniences. He also said he would give me 2 years of apple care for free. Aweome! I now have the MacBook and absolutely love it! The keyboard is so great on this! I LOVE IT SO MUCH!!!
Apple should apply a design with a positive pressure air flow below the keyboard ⌨️ preventing the dust to enter below the keys. I wonder if actually there is the reverse situation, a negative pressure when the fan is running sucking the dust in 🤨🤔
I was curious on the price comparison so I went on the Wayback Machine to price out your 2016 MPB the 2.6 quad core i7, 16 GB RAM, 1TB SSD, Radeon Pro 460 MBP would be $3,199 when new. Your new 2019 MBP with the 2.4 octa core i9, 32 GB RAM, 1TB SSD, Radeon Pro 560X would be $3,599. Not only did you get a brand new computer for free, your brand new computer is worth more than your old computer was when new. This is the definition of STONKS
Its great Apple gave you a replacement machine after so many repairs. But the issue is likely to happen to this one too. Feels like they should redesign the keyboard. Take a full year to test it then offer a replacement program.
I just got a free 2020 MacBook Pro 13 inch because the Genius Bar misplaced a part that was meant to be used with the 2019 MBP that I brought in for repair! I'm loving the scissor switches!
Same thing happened with me. After a few years of repairs it was replaced. Only thing I didn’t get was the upgraded graphics as well. Wonder how much of a difference that will make.
“I am very careful with my technology and I would notice if something happens to it” sounds exactly how I am. So nice to know there’s others like me out there, not throwing tech on the flor living in the dust
Same thing happened to me. I had the 2016 MacBook Air and I had the sticky keyboard. I took it to Apple, but all they wanted to do was replace the keyboard. I told them that if they do that I’ll just have to keep coming in month after month after month. After going back and forth with the genius and management they gave me a replacement. Not any replacement. They gave me a MacBook Pro AND the beats studios due to them running some student deal. All I was out of pocket was 50 some odd dollars. Apple did the same thing to me too they gave me the charger and cord, but kept the box to ship back to wherever the faulty tech goes.
Your thing is the view of the value of an old mac that can do what it has to do. Don't buy new macbook pro's for your audience. 80% of mac users are looking after their old macs, buy them of the employer and/or passing them over the another family member. There is a lot of other youtubers presenting new macs. Your listing things that can be done, repaired updated etc and I do really well appreciate that :)
Wow, that's awesome. I assume your computer wasn't under warranty? If so, that's some damn good customer service. I feel like you wouldn't get that with any other company.
Close to 20 years ago, I bought the last G4 tower that Apple made. The Firewire port burned out and was fixed twice and the processor failed. Apple ended up replacing my g4 tower with a cheese grater G5. Sweet deal.
They did the same for me. My 2015 12" Macbook had constant keyboard problems. On its third repair in 2017, they traded it out for a brand new 2017 model free of charge! I didn't ask for that, didn't even know it was possible. The biggest reason I buy Apple is the ecosystem, but the second is their customer service.
The went in the back, Googled you, found your RUclips page, realized you had 63K subs and realized it would be better to give you a brand new one than have you complain to 63 thousand people.
I really hope that is not the case. He deserved a new one, no matter what. The keyboard issue is not good enough from Apple. Apple quality is not what it was.
I got a free 'Pro' too........This must be costing Apple a fortune. ......and because they were so gracious & generous I forgive them completely for my 3 trips (which is actually 6 trips) to replace keyboards & a screen on my 12 inch Macbook :-) Interestingly I have subsequently discovered that Apple's policy here in London, UK is: 3 repairs and on the 4th trip in to repair something it's 'replacement time' which is what happened to me. It was the Apple guy in the store who was the one who informed me that I had the choice of yet another repair or a new replacement Mac.
Don’t expect this to fix your issue though. On Monday last week I was at an Apple Store looking at the brand new MacBook Pro 2019 13” base model. It had 6 not working keys. Keep in mind they had like 40 MacBooks altogether and it was in a spot where not too many would have used it.
Bro, just to let u know we can fully read at 11:07 the text you tried to hide (looking from upside the screen). Last numbers of your repair are 646, serial number ends with TDY and employee last numbers are 657. I don't know if it's only me and my screen or if everybody else can do the same. By the way, your videos are the best ++ ;)
My first Mac was the 2013 Retina 13” and after about 6 months, it started being janky. My Bluetooth and WiFi would stop working, it would overheat, it would freeze. They did several repairs over the course of 2-3 months but nothing worked and then it was finals time and they were still giving me the run around. “Oh we’ll fix this, we’ll fix that.” l had worn out my patience by then so I bought a cheap windows laptop to get through finals and left the Mac with the store, I was absolutely furious when I walked in and just left it there. Half an hour later, I got a call from their manager who gave me a replacement laptop and my mid 2014 retina is going strong as ever.
youare highly lucky. I have a 2016 model in for repairs RIGHT NOW for USB-C issues, where the cables aren't held in by the computer. They sort of just slip in and out without any clicks, so they wiggle out when I use the computer, disconnecting my hard drive I use to edit, causing me to lose all my work! This is the second time I sent it in, because they replaced my top case for no reason, instead of fixing my actual issue. I lost a dbrand palmrest skin :(
had this problem with my 2011 macbook pro, i bought it off facebook marketplace, 4 hours later when i was at home i opened it and tried using it properly for the first time, the whole center row of the keypad didnt work, messaged the seller, she wasnt helpful and eventually blocked me. que the stress and tons of research, found out my laptop wasnt covered under the keyboard replacement program, emailed apple customer service and got no reply (i couldnt find a phone number). luckily an old high school acquaintance did the keyboard replacement for me for free and i only had to pay for the part, he also fixed my touchpad and fanheader which he didnt notice needed repairs until he opened it. after that i bought a cheap keyboard protector on aliexpress to protect the keyboard from dust and moisture so hopefully this issue wont happen again. otherwise i love my macbook and it was my first mac so i had no idea what to expect, i had only used windows in the past and i much prefer the MacOS, its just way more intuitive. thats not to say i havent had any problems since, the other day i got the 3 beeps of death an my macbook wouldnt turn on. que more panicked googling and luckily its an easy fix i did myself. relly want to upgrade to a brand new macbook pro one day but given the issues the new modles have im good with my 2011 one for now. and i also hate that the new models dont have the light up apple logo.
Still no issues with my 2016 keyboard. Only would want to replace it before the program expires to get the battery replaced and extend the life of the machine.
This wasn’t free how much did the original MacBook Pro cost and how much did you have to pay for each of those repairs? Add those totals and that’s how much you paid for that 2019 MacBook Pro.
What boggles the mind is how many years Apple is persisting with this f### garbage keyboard. They should have pulled the MacBook 12” after the first 100 repairs and addressed the problem then. Now they have to deal with a tainted brand image of MacBook keyboards. The next keyboard better be rock solid or else the entire brand is down the drain. MacOS be damned I’m not paying $4000 for a headache every 6 months.
I haven’t personally upgraded to the new keyboards. I bought the very last batch of the old Air 13” and I’m very happy to have it. However, even with the i7.... it has no horsepower. But that’s ok, I use it for Mail and Word. For that menial task, it will last a lifetime.
Tim Cook leads the company from an accountant's perspective. Apple was calculating to make at least some profit off the keyboard, thus they couldn't replace it too early, otherwise it would've only created cost.
Wanted to upgrade from my 2013 macbook pro, decided to go with mid 2015 macbook to avoid the new keyboards. Says a lot about what Apple has done to their products
Same thing happens to my 2015 MacBook Pro when they put the charging port with a gap over the phone replaced with a 2017 on the day the warranty ended.
Way to go Apple!! I work for Apple in the sales department. I can tell you that customer support is our number one priority. Even though it was frustrating they will always do the right thing in the end!!
@@multiinc He meant buy a 2017 macbook pro on ebay that has applecare instead of going back in time to 2017. I'm assuming that's what your joke meant right? It kind of went over my head.
@@multiinc He paid for his 2017 macbook as well so it wasn't technically free, but he got an exchange for a new 2019 macbook worth a quite a bit more so you could in theory buy a 2017 macbook on Ebay and hope you get lucky enough to replicate 3 hardware issues, then maybe the apple lords will bless you.
Why do people assume that this new iteration of the keyboard will fail too? If they bothered to make changes, it means they think they can reduce the failure rate, and adding it to the replacement program is just an assurance that people won't be left not knowing whether they can get it fixed or not if it does break. By all means, it might still be faulty, but assuming it is so is rather silly.
The butterfly key mechanism has been giving people issues since it was introduced in 2015 on the MacBook, the design hasn't had much change it all. You can't possibly find it impossible to see how negative conjectures have been formed regarding the butterfly mechanism keyboards.
Not a bad deal at all, although suffering and frustrations were involved, I would have forgotten them for a 2019 MacBook Pro. So, I guess your iMac is collecting dust now
I have the 2013 and its soooooooo slow. Like it has become unbearable. It takes forever to turn on and off as well. I had to have the hard drive replaced a couple years ago. At this point I think it's time to purchase another.
Right on! I bought a 2011 MacBook Pro that year....brand new that included a 1TB HD and an internal CD-DVD Superdrive, 16GB RAM. I also bought AppleCare before the first year's warranty expired. Between 2011 and late 2013, I had four instances of issues with the built-in Airport wifi where it would eventually stop working, and they even replaced the logic board in hopes of fixing the issue. I was at a cafe one day when, again, the wifi failed. Just about a block down the street was the local Apple Store, where I took it to the Genius Bar. The "Genius" had a look, checked the records, and told me that he'd be back. He returned with a MacBook Pro box, shrink-wrapped. Now I should tell you that the new MBP models were just released, and the model that they had left was the top-of-the-line model that included a 1 TB SSD drive, along with 16GB of RAM. Since the internal Superdrive was discontinued, I was given an external SuperDrive. Needless to say, I was super stoked. The laptop has been a workhorse for me, and it's still my primary laptop to this day. I am planning on upgrading the laptop next year to the 2020 MacBook Pro, but will probably still keep the late-2013 model because it still works great with Mojave and my music production software. So had to share it, since you're one of the few. You really lucked out without having AppleCare; did you had to pay for repairs at all? I would highly recommend that if anyone spends money on something as vital as a laptop, don't skimp on AppleCare. I don't have it for my iPhone; I have third-party warranty for that. But for a laptop, or any Apple computer, even an iPad Pro, AppleCare could be your salvation. Anyway, I do hope that you won't have any of those keyboard problems, though! Peace.

@Zyzz for this replacement, i called up and spoke to a senior advisor
Did you do repairs through your local apple store or did you do them via their ship in for repair process, Just curious as to why they're sending you one instead of giving you one on the spot.
Bullshit, there is no way someone can go through so many keyboards.
@@EvianPutra My screen was acting up. They had to open the computer up. They had the wipe the hard drive, so they gave me the 1 TB upgrade.
Same thing happened to someone I know from church, his 2012 retina mbp was broken and the genius bar couldn't repair it so they just gave him a 2017 15 inch mbp.
More like a downgrade 😂
Iván Kindle HEY! I have that one. It’s great. A refinement of the 2016 version.
bollocks... as you aint got the applecare by the time the new 2017 comes out.
Wow that is a good replacement!!
Something wrong with my display its having booting issues it looks like the screen is broken but it’s not. They couldn’t find anything wrong with it so they took it to repair shop now I’m waiting to hear back. I hope they give me a brand new one I’ll be so so happy.
“For those of you who are *particularly* good at math... I have had my keyboard assembly replaced... twice...” 😂
Luke Miani if ur good at math then that makes 3 🤣🤪 we’re not kindergartners
Apple did the same thing for my iPad Air 2 at the time , the battery after a year only lasted 20 minutes, I spoke to someone online and they said that they would replace the battery for a cost, £80 when I went in to the store , the guy said yeah the battery is totally gone, instead of replacing the battery they would just give me a brand new one for the £80 that the battery would cost , I just had to go through the deletion process and I got a new iPad Air 2 .
dude 5:32 shows your entire credit card info delete asap
but I swear to god I did not spend on it I'm not that type of person i don't steal
I got free 17” MacBook Pro 1,1, after my 17” PowerBook broke apple couldn’t fix it.
Unlucky I think weee can seeee that
Make sure you document all the problems as thoroughly as possible like Luke did, and present them nicely to whoever helps you in the Apple store, that way you up your chances of them being nice to you
Yyyyeeea saaameeee heeeereeee
It's not free, you paid for a faulty macbook Pro, and they replaced it, they didn't give you a refund and a new computer also. SO YOU FINALLY GOT WHAT YOU PAID FOR.
This might be the happiest moment of life
I am smiling on behalf of you
Yeaaahhh
I see this as an absolute win!
I got a new Macbook Pro 13" last Tuesday and less than a week later the tab button is sticking already🤦♂️😂
Ok, now the strategy:
Break your butterfly keyboard and get it replaced 4 times
Go to the nearest Apple Store and complain about how many times you brought your laptop to the store and for how long your laptop has been away from you
Want a laptop replacement
Also, buy a Macbook Pro with unbalanced specs like a Core i7 with 2tb ssd so they will not be able to find the exact same specced laptop and give you a better specced one.
RUclips Kullanıcısı I’m thinking about it
It’s going to be that way. No need to have a ‘strategy’

I had the 2016 for 2 years before I sold it. Never had any issues but I remember how loud the keyboard was. Glad you got that beast for free though!
Brilliant news, hope this works out better for you! Well done Apple too, it shows you can be honest and keep your customers happy.
This video basically sums up why I skipped over the entire 2016 generation of MacBook Pro. I’m waiting for the 16” M1X MacBook Pro.
Luke Miani: Yes, My Free 2019 MacBook Pro has more issues than my old 2017 MBP.... (that's just my story)
This is the definition of STONKS
account for 3 years of inflation, about the same value.
My 2013 MacBook Pro still going strong with the same excellent, comfortable, professional, long-travel keyboard. Just saying.
I take it that you're a Rossmann lover ?? 😁
Sharky165 I didn’t know about his channel. But I do now, watched one video and subbed! Thanks for the recommendation.
Its great Apple gave you a replacement machine after so many repairs. But the issue is likely to happen to this one too. Feels like they should redesign the keyboard. Take a full year to test it then offer a replacement program.
Are you expecting new iMac or Mini this Fall?
I wonder how a similar issue would be resolved over here where there are no official Apple stores.
I just got a free 2020 MacBook Pro 13 inch because the Genius Bar misplaced a part that was meant to be used with the 2019 MBP that I brought in for repair! I'm loving the scissor switches!
And when this keyboard fails and they replace it with the late-2019 non-butterfly MBP maybe they will bump up the specs even more!
Same thing happened with me. After a few years of repairs it was replaced. Only thing I didn’t get was the upgraded graphics as well. Wonder how much of a difference that will make.
I just got my 15in 2016 MacBook keyboard replaced last week I hope it break 2 more times lol
“I am very careful with my technology and I would notice if something happens to it” sounds exactly how I am. So nice to know there’s others like me out there, not throwing tech on the flor living in the dust
Fingers crossed you will have ZERO problems to report in the future. :D
Butterfly Keyboard: Hold My Beer!
Luke: How about a tour of your gear? And studio. Thanks.
What a crap click bait..... You didn't get a FREE MacBook Pro. You only got a replacement.
Exactly. He still paid for the 2016. He just got an upgrade for free. Nothing but clickbait.
yeah one piece of crap replaced to another one but new piece of crap, good deal
Close to 20 years ago, I bought the last G4 tower that Apple made. The Firewire port burned out and was fixed twice and the processor failed. Apple ended up replacing my g4 tower with a cheese grater G5. Sweet deal.
Mall security hate him!
See how he got a free MacBook Pro with one weird trick!
you would think by now apple would have fixed the kbd issues it cant be that hard to fixed a design problem
I remember when 2012 MacBook Pro battery replacement had shortage, Apple gave customers 2015 model.
"Free" written in thumbnail=lots of views 😆
This dude is getting better and better...great content as always!
Jon Donnelly Apple is a PR obsessed company. I’m sure Luke mentioned the 5 repairs before and they probably said, it’s bad enough as it already is.
I got a free 'Pro' too........This must be costing Apple a fortune.
......and because they were so gracious & generous I forgive them completely for my 3 trips (which is actually 6 trips) to replace keyboards & a screen on my 12 inch Macbook :-)
Interestingly I have subsequently discovered that Apple's policy here in London, UK is: 3 repairs and on the 4th trip in to repair something it's 'replacement time' which
is what happened to me.
It was the Apple guy in the store who was the one who informed me that I had the choice of yet another repair or a new replacement Mac.
Get Apple Care on that beautiful Mac! Congratulations man!! 💯💪
Don’t expect this to fix your issue though. On Monday last week I was at an Apple Store looking at the brand new MacBook Pro 2019 13” base model. It had 6 not working keys. Keep in mind they had like 40 MacBooks altogether and it was in a spot where not too many would have used it.
It's not for free. You had to trade in your previous MacBook pro
Value of the new one is way higher than the old one dumbass
*a nonfunctional and less powerful MBP
Bro, just to let u know we can fully read at 11:07 the text you tried to hide (looking from upside the screen). Last numbers of your repair are 646, serial number ends with TDY and employee last numbers are 657. I don't know if it's only me and my screen or if everybody else can do the same.
By the way, your videos are the best ++ ;)
My butterfly keyboard has never gotten stuck or had any problems like everyone says
It wasn’t free, it was swapped for your old one
It was out of warranty
youare highly lucky. I lost a dbrand palmrest skin :(
May I have it?
Nah, just kidding.
Im not lol, I'd happily take it off his hands
had this problem with my 2011 macbook pro, i bought it off facebook marketplace, 4 hours later when i was at home i opened it and tried using it properly for the first time, the whole center row of the keypad didnt work, messaged the seller, she wasnt helpful and eventually blocked me. que the stress and tons of research, found out my laptop wasnt covered under the keyboard replacement program, emailed apple customer service and got no reply (i couldnt find a phone number). luckily an old high school acquaintance did the keyboard replacement for me for free and i only had to pay for the part, he also fixed my touchpad and fanheader which he didnt notice needed repairs until he opened it. after that i bought a cheap keyboard protector on aliexpress to protect the keyboard from dust and moisture so hopefully this issue wont happen again. otherwise i love my macbook and it was my first mac so i had no idea what to expect, i had only used windows in the past and i much prefer the MacOS, its just way more intuitive. thats not to say i havent had any problems since, the other day i got the 3 beeps of death an my macbook wouldnt turn on. que more panicked googling and luckily its an easy fix i did myself. relly want to upgrade to a brand new macbook pro one day but given the issues the new modles have im good with my 2011 one for now. and i also hate that the new models dont have the light up apple logo.
Does it have to be 15 mins long? Dude!!!
Still no issues with my 2016 keyboard. Only would want to replace it before the program expires to get the battery replaced and extend the life of the machine.
13:06 Did they at least let you keep the Apple stickers? That’s the most important item
hahhahaha most special essential of all apple products.
When Apple gives you a replacement product they literally only give you the replacement. I was surprised they gave him the charger.
This wasn’t free how much did the original MacBook Pro cost and how much did you have to pay for each of those repairs? Add those totals and that’s how much you paid for that 2019 MacBook Pro.
+1 Subscriber ;) keep up the good work and content!
Soon to be sold as a refurbished Macbook with the original box.
"Here's why..." Um, because you are their biggest cheerleader on RUclips maybe?
They want him to stop his keyboard rant.
At least you got a replacement. I had a similar situation and got a 2018 for my 2015 MBP. Apple takes care of its customers.
Apple was calculating to make at least some profit off the keyboard, thus they couldn't replace it too early, otherwise it would've only created cost.
the 2019's are much better in terms of reliability and quiter than 2018's
macbook has to better in 2020 with the redesign they ate going back to the older style of keyboards and using glass fiber
Did you threaten to speak to the manager? Or leave a bad yelp review?
I have had so many issues with my 2017 computer. right now the screen is not working, keyboard sticks and the battery needs to service
I just got mine shipped directly to me after 3 working days immeditly after my payment with the help of klugkenneth32 on IG,apple salesman

1: Go back in time to 2017......
or go to eBay
@@umerhumayun866 ?
@@multiinc He meant buy a 2017 macbook pro on ebay that has applecare instead of going back in time to 2017. I'm assuming that's what your joke meant right? It kind of went over my head.
@@famishedrj3 Oh I get it now. But you are still paying for it as it is not free if you go on ebay
You can't possibly find it impossible to see how negative conjectures have been formed regarding the butterfly mechanism keyboards.
.... and now you're going to be dealing with the T2 chip crashes instead.

I still have my 2013 MacBook :( I wish I had a 2019 one
I have the 2013 too but its sooooooooo good stil
I have the 2013 and its soooooooo slow. Like it has become unbearable. It takes forever to turn on and off as well. I had to have the hard drive replaced a couple years ago. At this point I think it's time to purchase another.
rdsx463724 oh my is super fast and nothing has been replaced or so
Peace.
why is everyone saying "early"?
also, luke, do you remember me from that WWDC 2018 livestream you did?
Congrats, Luke..you worked hard to get that replacement.
