Then you go back and fix it a second time. That makes watching your video even more satisfying! Keep doing what you’re doing, it works! Be safe.
i don't think I have come across one video that I haven't watched the full thing. I am a recent Apple convert. I was overclocking and water cooling pc's 20 years ago. I bought my first iPhone in October, and really started opening my eyes to Apple. I grabbed my wife's old 6,1 Macbook and did a ram and ssd upgrade and installed Catalina. Just did the same with my sister in law's 7,1 Macbook Pro. I miss doing these kind of things. I am trying to figure out a way to continue fixing these old macbook's up and your channel has given me so much inspiration. Thanks!

@@drcola143 I've disassembled them since I was 14 years old, they are a joy to work on, all the clips, connectors are just too easy to unplug, the layout is easy to work on, no awkward keyboard tilts to disconnect and damage the ribbons or etc like on most windows based laptops. Screen assembly is literally 1 plug,few antenna plugs and 6 screws, I've never came across an easier display to replace(If we're talking a whole assembly, if the display was fixed and I mean unglue the glass protector with a heatgun and replace the lcd itself, then yeah, it's pretty difficult) but overall it's as easy as taking a gameboy apart, had more trouble diassembling nintendo ds than macbooks for the past 7 years lol

I had a Chromebook with a bad battery, so I did my research on iFixit and bought a refurbished toolkit and a replacement battery on Ebay (following your tips to make sure I found a good seller) and BOOM - problem fixed!! This saved me over $500. I have followed you for a couple years now and love the content and your sense of humor! 8@@marcmiyamoto The batteries in these machines aren't just one single cell, they have leads running to each of those pouches and are frighteningly flexible should you ever find yourself handling one that isnt glued in. I wouldn't be surprise if, even with that level of damage, the battery is just fine to continue using. As for removal, there are liquid solutions you can use to release the adhesive and get the battery out. With everything else destroyed, a heatgun and some alcohol should do just fine. ** I should mention the heat is applied to the palmrest, not directly to the battery** Then something like dental floss can be used to slice through the glue, releasing the battery. Ifixit has some great guides detailing this.

Luke. I enjoy your videos very much. I actually work in a apple depo repairing apple laptops. One thing that was having me cringe the entire time was that you didn't have a battery cover on the battery. I am suprised that the top case didn't come with one. We are always told to have a cover on the battery. They are very easy to damage and cause a thermal event. Please be safe and have a container of special sand to pore on these units if a battery is damaged. They can catch fire very very quickly and need to be smothered. Or they can vent bad stuff in the air that can harm you. I hope you have good ventilation ready if something happens. Stay safe!!

I dropped my 2014 MBP and it is bent on one side by the hinge, I looked at repairing it but the cost for parts vs buying a used Thinkbook made repairing it a tough sell.
