The i9 cpu hits 100C/212F. That is absolutely terrible. It doesn’t even hit the base clock speed. There is no excuse for this lack of design choice by Apple
apple puts in an i9 to make the numbers in the specs look higher to tech noobs ( AKA american teen girls ) and justify the price
MKBHD didnt go in depth on this aspect. I don't mind a laptop throttling (they all do it to a degree) but it should always be at least hitting base clock speed. Anything below indicates a serious thermal management problem.

I know this isn't a benchmark channel, and I appreciate that! However, it was disappointing that you chose not to discuss any details abut how bad the throttling on this laptop really is (which i thought you would have based on the title). Especially while discussing render times: this cpu throttles so hard within the new Macbook Pro that you're leaving EASILY 25%+ improvement on the table for render times alone. You can't discuss marginal improvements in render time without at least *mentioning* that you won't be getting even CLOSE to your moneys worth.

Nefarious Cheat alright, listen: Just the past two weeks alone ive built 3 Desktop systems and therefor count myself as someone with sufficient knowledge on the topic. I never liked anything from Apple, neither their iPhones nor the Macs but thats because in my opinion the OS sucks. Now, the main reason this Mac is considered overpriced by many is because of the thermal throtteling. This is one of the very first laptops that have an i9 CPU built in and its just stupid to do so without providing sufficient cooling, wich is impossible if you try to keep your system this slim and light. The actual power of the CPU cant be used at all, buying this is like burning money. If I was given 3000$ I could easily find an equivalent laptop, since the performance of well-running i7 systems will be better than throttled i9 systems. I understand that people like apple but sometimes they fuck things up as well, just like smasung did with the note 7. Deal with it

Like I get the build quality, software and appeal of MacBooks..but if they could just either use adequate hardware or drop the outrageous apple tax, and have fair customer service rma options, they would have a killer product. Well yeah, in Sweden this Netflix machine cost $8500. The US reviewers complain about the price when electronics prices in other countries are stratospheric in comparison. But yes, it's still expensive as hell.

That SSD speed is insane. My SSD is 4-5 times slower and it works great, I cannot imagine how 2,600MB/s looks like in normal use.

My MacBook Pro has sticky and repeating keys, for which reason I sent it for keyboard repair a week ago. My Mac is still in warranty BTW. Two days later, they told me there was some minor liquid spill near the mother board. Therefore, they wanted to charge me 1500+ bucks to replace the mother board first before they could replace the keyboard. I chose to decline the requote and only asked them to clean the faulty keys for me. When I received my Mac back two days ago, the faulty keys remained faulty. To my surprise, the battery and WiFi router do not work now. In summary, they used an excuse to avoid replacing the faulty keys and broke my hardware, which were in perfect working conditions before the repair. Now they have voiced my warranty because of the liquid spill mentioned earlier and for God’s sake I can’t have my Mac repaired any more. Even if I can, they are gonna use the spill as excuse to avoid doing so anyway. I am shocked, frustrated and disappointed. I don’t know who can help me. 😔
