I had this RUclips mix on all night...I occurred to me this morning that John and Alice Coltrane came back as a jazz group... Brian Blade Fellowship. If I never travel to see other countries, all the beauty that Nature provides or forget to pray I, can at least say "I hear and feel it in this music"....this is way beyond jazz folks.
I concur, he can play a lot of riffs within a measure without ''over-playing''. His ability to get as many colors and tones from the drums and cymbals has always amazed me. But then again, that's the mark of a great drummer, to hit the 'skins' and cymbals with skill and passion. I play guitar, but have always admired what drummers and percussionists do to create the drive and pace of a song or a score of music. Don't believe me? Take the percussion out of the finale of 'The Barber of Seville' by Rossini and you'll see what I mean.

Nano was a Tv series on 3sat back in the day, it‘s an announcement in this case, since this was appearantly broadcasted quite late back in the day
