Hello Ant, my long term survival world is set to 'large biomes' and i kinda regret that deciosion, is there a possibility to change the Generation type, while keeping all my already loaded chuncks?
Haha I appreciate it! I used a little shortcut and copied the timeline elements of a replay mod recording to other worlds, lined them up in my editing software, and then just set up the cuts accordingly. It worked really well for this video!
The comparison between the two pillars with different biome seeds makes me think of an adventurer visiting one, and then the other, in separate lifetimes, and recognizing their identical form
Same, it also made me think of those games where you switch between two realities, one's the normal and the other is paranormal or in a different time period
@@davidmaximus6709 The example that came to mind for me were 2 games by the same developer: Far Cry 4 and Far Cry Primal. They were set in different time periods but using the same terrain. The surface features in Primal made it look so unique I didn't notice it until it was pointed out to me.
Bcoz it's fun to do this sort of stuff. It's a weird sort of coding endeavor, that ends in cool features. When you're doing something like this, you don't even need caffeine to stay awake, the fun of it all is enough to keep you up
I think I found out about this by accident a few months ago when messing with the nbt editor to change my world seed to try to force weird chunk borders but noticing there was multiple seed boxes and messed them to what would happen but then I forgot about it until this video reminded me
Yeah I also noticed it when I wanted to reset the dragon fight after my friend yoinked the egg. I knew there were seperate seeds generated from the master seed, but never realized you could actually edit them
I remember this while testing datapacks, it never struck me as odd but I noticed every time some of the world gen would tend to be placed differently. Also, if I recall one of the major bugs in 1.18 prior to pre-release was this exact thing happening where the same seed would get a different generation.
I dont remember same seed different generation being a 1.18 bug. Did you confuse them changing how the seed algorithim works a couple times, thus chaning how any given seed generates a world as a bug?
@@rudrasingh6354 no, it was when you generated the same seed it'll give new generation features without being the same, for example, if you found a micro biome like snowy plains near a stone shore, the next time you'll use the same seed it'll disappear completely or take up half of that area.
@@NateLeon if you actually look through all the snapshots somewhere in the changelogs it will say something about changing the seeds from 48^ to the 64^ number of seeds so it changed every world with the same seed
I'd love if someone abused those features, to implement "the long earth" type mod, where you can move in two directions, to alternate worlds, which are ALMOST the same (in the natural way, human-built change is world-specific, so if you're at a skyscaper at "earth prime" you'd be falling down on "earth +1"), but with each world you get farther, the more different they get, so you'd use the same seed, but blend between the original terrain seeds, and changed ones... probably would need to do some heuristics, and sometimes generate several seeds before allowing player to swap...but this stuff being part of vanilla, would probably make it pretty doable... like at first you'd just change the structures, then start also changing the heightmap, then slowly itarate through a few biome changes, then add caves to it... etc... would probably need some way to make the biome differences blend similarly enough, so you don't get an ocean at one world, and plains in another... but other than that, should be pretty easy to make...
Ehh, the issue there is that the terrain might leave odd cliffs or such due to the sudden changes to terrain generation... Of course, Mojang is adding a feature to 1.18 to actually blend newly-generated terrain into old terrain. If that works with changed seeds, rather than just changed versions, that'd be neat.
I appreciate that! I was actually underwhelmed while editing it, even if a lot of effort went into the video. I’m happy that most people are enjoying the video as much as I had initially hoped!

My friends and I actually found out about the whole seven seeds thing by accident a little while ago. We were running our own smp, and at one point, the host's computer crashed, causing a weird corruption where the worldseed got set to 0. We found out about it when we went past what we had already generated before and found the border where the world switched seeds. So to fix it, we opened the map up in a chunk editor, and reset all of the chunks that had generated with seed 0. Then we opened up the map in nbteditor to try to fix the seed, and there we found out about the seven separate seeds, and we laughed at how jank mojang code is.

Really like how your channel in early days was just you playing minecraft like everyone else, then you focused on breaking things and being the Vsauce of minecraft, and now, you still do the same thing, but with very cinematic quality videos. Amazing how this channel evolved!
This is similar (or maybe the same) as PaperMC which allows the operator to adjust sub-seeds to prevent people from discovering the seed and then knowing where everything is. I didn't realize it was part of Vanilla, but I guess I should have.
Changing the sub seeds in Paper is also very useful to delay seed cracking in servers: By changing the decorator seeds, a seed cracking mod may crack the wrong seed because those mods rely on the decoration positions in the world, this avoids malicious users that are trying to crack the seed for x-raying purposes.
@@russianyoutube If you set the sub-seeds to the right value in Paper, the generation is basically identical. Sometimes there are some oddities, but otherwise it's the same.
That's really interesting! This reminds me of when you showed "mirror" seeds, that were basically the same, only with differing height maps. I wonder if there's some formula for generating seeds with different biome or features seeds!
Could this mean that strongholds can generate with 12 eyes when resetting the first seed type? If so that would be very interesting in speedrunning set seeds. Although admittedly I think verifying those runs would be a nightmare
You started out with breaking Minecraft, but you have now broken my mind! How? Why? I- I- I have no words, no words. I actually am getting a headache from trying to wrap my mind around this, I currently don’t have the vocabulary nor the cognitive ability to put into words as to just how amazing this is! I think I speak for many when I say that you intended to break Minecraft but ending up breaking our brains! You have officially earned this sub!
These are sister seeds! We actually use them a lot for finding the most optional seeds in Set Seed Speedruns! Although we did it by adding a certain integer to the seed value, I don't believe we knew about all of these variables! This could actually really help discover new sister seeds using this method instead!
Alright imma be straight, I didn't see that this was an AntVenom video. It's been years since i last heard nor saw one of his videos. And see his name a minute or 2 into the video gave me a huge nostalgia blast
When we type in the World Seed when creating a world, are the other seeds deterministically based on that seed? Because that would be the only option how to generate identical worlds each time with the same seed, right?
Based on this video, I think the seed number is repeated in all seven boxes. So if you had master seed "1234," that would be put in all of them, but then you could go in and manually alter each one individually. (See in the vid how they all say "0")
I think when you use the "normal" seed generation that minecraft has, then all 7 values in the world data file will set to the same value. Suppose you have a seed value "300", then all 7 options will say "300". But then of course you can go into the world data file and change things there and change the individual values to create a "custom" seed of sorts. Which, depending on what values you set for each category, could either be something totally awesome, or a Frankenstein's monster....... Which in my eyes is equally as awesome😂
This discovery is simply incredible! There'll be endless possibilities with this and like you said in your previous video, I definetly won't look at vanilla world generation the same again. Your cinematography and transitions were so well done here!! Keep pumping out these videos!!
This makes a lot of sense from a game development standpoint, as there are different layers of noise that control each aspect, so every layer of noise has to have it's own seed (this is because random number generators have seeds, and you need them to make noise) for anyone who doesn't know, I am talking about noise more like the white noise patterns you see on a TV, not sound
Everything covered in Ant's videos could be represented by the deepest part in iceberg videos, and I love it so much. This game is more deep and mysterious than we could ever imagine before.
Changing the biome while keeping the terrain constant could be a great way to probably show different seasons on the same terrain. Great job on the discovery ant!
We need a mod that allows modification of the 7 seeds to create a world or maybe a new parameter in a new realease of Minecraft under the name "Specific Seed" or something like that
Ant: "It was jst past 3 in the morning and my brain was in breaking minecraft mode" Me: No, your brain needs to be in "I need to get sleep ASAP" mode Jk, loved the vid :D
Some one should make a datapack that creates new dimensions exactly the same as the overworld but with one of those seeds changed slightly. And lets you teleport between them with the same coordinate location. You’d be able to explore parallel universes that are almost like your own. And with the same hight map you would run a minimal risk of appearing inside a block. It would be exactly like the Long Earth series by Terry Pratchett and Stephen Baxter.
Oooh! I knew about this one with how customized world settings work! The new datapack dimension and world settings are fun to mess with, even playing in a squished 64 block tall overworld and nether is fun to do too! You can change EVERYTHING in a world due to it having it's own seed for that!
you aren't seeing new master seeds. it's technically the same master seed, but generated differently. if you input the master seed you'll always get the same one, and never one of these modified ones
You seeing duplicates. This isn't adding a bigger BUS to the CPU. All of these changes exist naturally for the other seeds. he just found a way to get them using different numbers. But they very much already existed.
This is so cool. I wanted a simple way to prevent players from finding or reverse engineering the seed on smp servers through mods like world downloader or seedcracker. I thought about making a custom world json to import world setting or datapack to change the rarity or salt of structures. Though that method didn't change the dungeon location, which is the main way players can get the seed number as the dungeon cannot be edited in json (that I know of) and I couldn't work my head around datapacks. When editing the json for a custom world I literally saw the feature seed variable as well as the others seeds without knowing the answer was right in front of me. Thanks for sharing this knowledge. Now I can make an smp with all different seed numbers for features, height map, and biome in a custom world json or level.dat with nbt and players cannot know the actual world seed without knowing all the other seeds I set. With how the video started, I thought you were going to talk about sister seeds, glad you didn't. I wonder how many possible seeds there are now as you can change the normal seed number and all other 7 seeds... possible future video idea?
If you want the math, there's a couple of guys dotted around in the comments of this video who actually put the time and effort to do the calculations. And well explained too. I'd suggest you look around in the comments😊
this got me thinking, could it be possible to change the end city, nether fortress, bastion, and overworld dungeon locations so that on an smp you could give out the world seed but without compromising the locations of the structions
I experienced a similar effect when i deleted all the player profile files from an Alpha server game save. It brought the world save size down by a few GB which made editing with MCedit easier. But it also changed the landscape irreparably, deleting half of the houses that were originally on that map.
I don't like that AntVenom gives out knowledge, that is well known and understood by all seed finders and a lot of more technical players, and presents it as something new and undiscovered. Moreover he basically restricted us from proving him wrong in the comments, by telling to not mention others covering this topic. Hilarious!
Unfortunately I agree. It's an interesting video and I'm sure he showed a lot of people something they'd never know otherwise, but that part of the outro really rubbed me the wrong way.

You're a legend your videos are so good , the editing , the script , your voice !
Keep it up
My man.. you have NO IDEA how revolutionary this is, this is like, top 10 most important discoveries ever in minecraft history
These are sister seeds! We actually use them a lot for finding the most optional seeds in Set Seed Speedruns! Although we did it by adding a certain integer to the seed value, I don't believe we knew about all of these variables! This could actually really help discover new sister seeds using this method instead!
To think that this happened all because that one person suggested something and that that idea almost was discarded... is baffling
This is really interesting, never knew that something like this would be possible. awesome find Ant!
this was added in 1.16 with the addition of custom worlds
edit: nevermind he said that in the video lol
Omg are you the real stampy
omg stampylongbear!????
Alright imma be straight, I didn't see that this was an AntVenom video. It's been years since i last heard nor saw one of his videos. And see his name a minute or 2 into the video gave me a huge nostalgia blast
When we type in the World Seed when creating a world, are the other seeds deterministically based on that seed?
Because that would be the only option how to generate identical worlds each time with the same seed, right?
Yes, I think
AntVenom I've been here for a while and I really like your stuff keep up the great work and breaking the amazing game that is Minecraft!!!
One of your finest videos my guy, congratulations on this epic work!
This makes a lot of sense from a game development standpoint, as there are different layers of noise that control each aspect, so every layer of noise has to have it's own seed (this is because random number generators have seeds, and you need them to make noise)
for anyone who doesn't know, I am talking about noise more like the white noise patterns you see on a TV, not sound
Is that the "Perlin" (Named after the creator, not sure if that is right) noise maps that are used for height maps, and other things in generation?
@@offspringfan100 yes I think so
Just when you think he's broken Minecraft every possible way he finds something else to break in Minecraft
Everything covered in Ant's videos could be represented by the deepest part in iceberg videos, and I love it so much. This game is more deep and mysterious than we could ever imagine before.
im loving ur videos antvenom and have been watching u for 5ish years now. i appreciate all the work that you put in your videos
I hate commenting just when a video releases, but since I'm so early, I'm gonna say it:
In this video ant is going to have so much fun
Agree
Changing the biome while keeping the terrain constant could be a great way to probably show different seasons on the same terrain. Great job on the discovery ant!
We need a mod that allows modification of the 7 seeds to create a world or maybe a new parameter in a new realease of Minecraft under the name "Specific Seed" or something like that
🤔
Seed layers or aspects? It would be cool to make custom seed aspects.
i love you because you explore what my fear is without making it scary
Ant: "It was jst past 3 in the morning and my brain was in breaking minecraft mode"
Me: No, your brain needs to be in "I need to get sleep ASAP" mode
Jk, loved the vid :D
Ants don't sleep.
Well, okay, they sleep for about one minute each, about 250 separate times a day.
Antvenom: messes around with various parameters and values because yes
Minecraft physics: Why do I hear Boss music?
Some one should make a datapack that creates new dimensions exactly the same as the overworld but with one of those seeds changed slightly. And lets you teleport between them with the same coordinate location.
You’d be able to explore parallel universes that are almost like your own. And with the same hight map you would run a minimal risk of appearing inside a block. It would be exactly like the Long Earth series by Terry Pratchett and Stephen Baxter.
I'll check that novel series out!
Vega: The longer Antvenom is breaking Minecraft, the stronger he becomes.
This is so fascinating. I would of never expected that!
Thank you so much for these amazing videos!
The Dramatisation in this channel is a masterpiece.
No joking, no sarcasm, it is perfect, brilliant and very well done.
Ant, your videos are literally my life. I love your videos to the moon and back, as well as you.
At first I thought that I had missed the "To the Moon" let's play somewhere on his channel 😄
Ive always been astonished by world seeds. I just love flying over worlds with elytra
your editing transition is cool, and ur videosis very informative, keep it up!
"Uh oh, I'm having fun again," killed me and my humor's ego 😂💀
The cinematography here is absolutely amazing
Yeah you really love breaking minecraft. 3 IN THE MORNING! lol
Oooh! I knew about this one with how customized world settings work!
The new datapack dimension and world settings are fun to mess with, even playing in a squished 64 block tall overworld and nether is fun to do too!
You can change EVERYTHING in a world due to it having it's own seed for that!
More amazing discoveries that my mind can hardly comprehend. I really enjoy your voice and storytelling style. Another awesome vid!
Question. dose this extend the possible seeds available, or are you effectively seeing other master seeds when you change the biome seed for example.?
Yes
you aren't seeing new master seeds. it's technically the same master seed, but generated differently. if you input the master seed you'll always get the same one, and never one of these modified ones
You seeing duplicates. This isn't adding a bigger BUS to the CPU. All of these changes exist naturally for the other seeds. he just found a way to get them using different numbers. But they very much already existed.
Ah yes supreme brand designer Minecraft worlds
nice video and explanation, and very well shown visually :)
Hi Dylan! I like your vids!
@@Teneab thanks! glad you do :)
AntVenom has ascended to Minecraft godhood. We should all be frightened.
Your videos are all so interesting, thank you
Originally I played Minecraft with the FOV of Quake Pro(110). Because of AntVemom's previous video, I now play at 120 FOV.
Thank you Ant for the quality content as usual ❤☺
just starting a world can bring so many memories
Parallel world type of stuff 👀
Very interesting...
AntVenom : i love breaking Minecraft
Viewers : hmm, it's sound good.
Wait so for example if i find a cool mountain formation, i can edit one of these sub-seeds and get a village to spawn on top?
wow thats amazing
ive dug through minecrafts folder files so much over the years, incredible that such a big game is still having discoveries this big even now
This is so cool. I wonder how many possible seeds there are now as you can change the normal seed number and all other 7 seeds... possible future video idea?
spigot has supported using different seeds for things like villages and such for years.
Seriously though, Ant what a legend.
In the first 10 seconds, i had goose bumps, and thought "ant did it again, he broke le mince raft"
Just when we think ant can’t break this game any more, he does and in increasingly more spectacular fashion
I experienced a similar effect when i deleted all the player profile files from an Alpha server game save. It brought the world save size down by a few GB which made editing with MCedit easier. But it also changed the landscape irreparably, deleting half of the houses that were originally on that map.

What else can I break tonight?
_Looks at the viewer_
How about you? _I will break you_
AYO?!
2:34 thats so sick, its like seeing the past then the future
I don't like that AntVenom gives out knowledge, that is well known and understood by all seed finders and a lot of more technical players, and presents it as something new and undiscovered. Moreover he basically restricted us from proving him wrong in the comments, by telling to not mention others covering this topic. Hilarious!
Just going to comment on this so i can look at it later.
Unfortunately I agree. It's an interesting video and I'm sure he showed a lot of people something they'd never know otherwise, but that part of the outro really rubbed me the wrong way.
oh please don't tell me this is a common thing with him
The possibilities of Letsplays has just exploded. Thank you AntVenom, This is awesome! 🎆🎄 Merry Christmas
