I have hoarded several screenshots of Minecraft. I'm pretty sure I have most of my screenshots archived and backed up too. Not to mention every .pdn file for every project I've made. You never know when you or someone else will need that kind of thing.
For those (Like myself) who don't understand how they got the non-snowy version from the snowy seed, they're actually the same seed. Apparently in early Alpha when generating a world there was a 25% chance it could be a "snowy world". It always snowed and it snowed everywhere. So to get the non-snowy seed they just re-generated the world until it was non-snowy.
Ohh, right! I was going to ask how they got it in a non-snowy version - I remembered the snow-worlds from alpha days, but I thought that was part of the seed, not an independently randomized setting.
I love how this group of seasoned seed cracking veterans pour all their efforts and countless hours into finding this seed. Then this dude shows up and is like hey guys you looking for this?
It has for a very long time been considered impossible. So nobody tried hard enough. All that was needed was to put enough effort to understand world generation, and all this came out.
If you want to take a screenshot of Minecraft for something, make SURE you first kill all the animals, and re-arrange all the flowers first. Maybe even place a random water source block. That'll really screw with them.
I had to say exactly what the guy above said, I used to correct my teachers about Coding, Algebra, physics & mostly Astrophysics. This is even beyond that ._.
@LittleBertz I thought that as well, having an entire panorama would be much easier to work with than a single image. Besides, the panorama is better known anyways.
But the coding for this would depend more on ram throughput than gpu power, especially with java which is highly inefficient in ram usage, and since its not a jungle, and its looking at such a small area, ram would be all that mattered. It would be even faster if rendering for the flowers isnt needed to know their location as then the seed doesn’t need graphical loading.

The creator of Minecraft created this game for people to play with blocks and maybe beat each other up with armor and swords. They made it more complicated by creating realms and servers. But never expected a bunch of people to analyse the complete source code of the game for months and years right from the start just to find something they actually don't need. This community is crazy.
Well, minecraft is made in Java which is _very easy_ to decompile, and Microsoft also opens up a lot of the MC code, the exact opposite is true for Nintendo on ancient programs lol
Actually its either impossible or as hard as finding pewdiepie seed by tracing the chunks line on the blocks and comparing the coordinates using a program to find seeds and coordinates.. It's already easy to determine the orientation of the camera, because at least the default stage has crafting tables and other blocks that have specific faces that only face one direction. Although, the sun, moon and cloud axis has been changed to make them visible.

Given that it would be a massive pain to make up the entire terrain to look Minecraft-realistic, they could have copied it from some seed, and thus it could be possible, in part.

I think it's beautiful that these randomly generated worlds are so utterly unique that a single image of them can function as an indelible fingerprint.

It will make minecraft with more and more possibilities. With new block there will be more creative building. And with more mechanic there will be more redstone machine. And thats why its almost unlikely for minecraft to "die" if they keep adding more content.

@xXShinjonXx i doubt that. Story mode world is heavily modified for the game. While i think some of it was made in minecraft, it might be difficult to tell which parts were naturally generated and which ones were edited.

I remember back when I first got Minecraft in 2013, my little brother and I made a new world, our first ever world we played on. Many months later, after an accidental world delete, him and I went on to make another survival world. After looking around for a suitable space to settle down on, we noticed that this was the same world we first ever made. The chance that we got the same seed twice is amazing.

It will make minecraft with more and more possibilities. With new block there will be more creative building. And with more mechanic there will be more redstone machine. And thats why its almost unlikely for minecraft to "die" if they keep adding more content.

@xXShinjonXx i doubt that. Story mode world is heavily modified for the game. While i think some of it was made in minecraft, it might be difficult to tell which parts were naturally generated and which ones were edited.

Well Story Mode runs in a different game engine for one. Developers probably hand-made the terrain.

I remember back when I first got Minecraft in 2013, my little brother and I made a new world, our first ever world we played on. Many months later, after an accidental world delete, him and I went on to make another survival world. After looking around for a suitable space to settle down on, we noticed that this was the same world we first ever made. The chance that we got the same seed twice is amazing.
