  • Hello guys and gals, it's me Mutahar again! This time we take a look at what appears to be a scenario where companies once again throw away support to stop a group of people that will continue to cheat at every single online game they play, in the process of fairness we just keep losing features in the long run. Thanks for watching!

      I've been replaying the Arkham series having a blast. I honestly think the hacking is worse because of the matchmaking in a lot of these pvp shooters. The people doing it feel like they can't compete without it because they're put into these sweat lobbies 24/7. There was always cheating but I don't think to anywhere near this degree. Could be the access causing an increase in occurrence, but I honestly think it's because of the frustrating matchmaking systems in games now.

The crazy part is that he defended himself saying that using Cronus isn't cheating because the game allows it and a lot of people use it. Stuff like that has basically been a part of CoD "culture" for well over a decade unfortunately. When I used to play CoD4 (I'm old) a fairly common thing people would do is pay to have someone mod their controller's right trigger to register a hold as a repeating input. So "auto-fire" basically. That way they could use weapons like the G3 or M14, which were higher powered semi-auto rifles, and fire them full-auto like an M4 on steroids.
      Same thing worked in CoD World at War with the Gewehr 43 (German semi-auto rifle). That rifle killed with two body shots and had a 10 round magazine, so when people used it with an auto-fire mod it was pretty OP.

      Honest question: maybe I'm being obtuse, but why is it considered cheating to move to keyboard and mouse, when for any other game genre, moving to a better input method is perfectly acceptable to get better results? I mean, no one complains that game pad users are cheating by getting a fighting stick against other game pad users, and no one complains when game pad users get a steering wheel to do better at driving games. So I'm not sure why moving to a keyboard and mouse is any different. They should just disable aim assist and just let people use whatever input method they want?

    COD supports keyboard and mouse natively on console. Difference is, when you play with native KBM, you get no aim assist. With XIM, you still get full AA. So when they advertise this for COD, there's no "input preference" argument it's just plain cheating.

    The worst part about kernel anticheat is that even with all the drawbacks it has, _it doesn't even fucking work to stop cheaters at the end of the day._ So not only am I being forced to download kernel level spyware that does nothing except BE kernel level spyware if I want to play my games, but I'm getting locked away from gaming on my better, snappier, more feature rich and customizable linux partition for NO REASON. If the anticheat actually worked I'd be like "man that sucks but I understand" but cheaters just bypass it anyway and the only people who suffer from this are legit users who don't want to cheat to begin with. I'm glad there's so many single player games to keep me occupied these days, and that the multiplayer games I do care about work on linux.

    • @FoxyllAkora
      @FoxyllAkora 10 месяцев назад +6

      Yea, that's one reason that more invasive anticheats are just not worth it for players or devs. At the end of the day, someone that is set on cheating will cheat. They will find a way around the anticheat and pretend it doesn't exist. Sure, it may slow them down, but once one person figures it out, it'll get distributed and then the floodgates open. At that point, the game may as well not have anticheat

    • @F.M671

      Well, as STUPID AS IT SOUNDS, I’m pretty sure that there’s an incredibly REASONABLE EXPLANATION for it.
      Eventually, once stock of the EXISTING disc-drive PS5s dwindles ENOUGH, they’ll PROBABLY discontinue that SKU altogether and just go with the ONE (with the option to add a disc drive later if you want), thereby STREAMLINING manufacturing/production since they now only have to make a SINGLE PRODUCTION MODEL for retail.

      I will say this, using mouse+KB is useless on console because auto aim for controllers is bordering on cheat mode.
      However, back in the late 90s it was always my dream to play in a lobby full of controller players while I had mouse+keyboard.
      I actually realized that goal using the eagle eye adapter while playing Far Cry 2 multiplayer on the PS3, it was glorious, I utterly rhizzaped every lobby because there was no auto aim or it was so flimsy that it didn't matter.
      I don't consider that cheating, it's me playing the game, not auto aim, and I'm doing memetic justice showing the superiority of mouse+keyboard controls.

      About 4-5 years after I started playing CSGO I used a website plugin to check my match history, in approx 60% of my games there was at least 1 player banned in every competitive match (10 players) and many of those matches had 2-3 people banned. and this is with CSGO's anti cheat being notoriously bad at detecting cheaters.
      One match in particular I looked at was a game with all 9 other players being blatent cheaters, like turning their cheats up to 100% just to out cheat the enemy team blatent. Only 6 of those players are banned till this day.
      When CS2 released about a month ago I've played about a hundred matches of premier and competitive and it feels like a solid 2-4 players per match are 'legit cheating' which is where they just use things like walls, esp, chams, and a really low FOV smooth aimbot. When I've played several thousand hours it just becomes pretty obvious to me when someone is just 'too aware' with terrible movement and game mechanics but seem to always be aiming exactly where you are peaking from and are never caught off guard without fail the entire game, they will also sit behind a wall waiting for half a minute until the second you pull out a Nade or turn away, once or twice is a coincidence but when its over 10 times per match... yeah nah.
      Ive played against top 100 players, and even pro players on a few occasions and yet while the good players play methodically and actually clear angles, its incredibly frustrating when almost every game there are multiple players on the enemy team playing like bots but have better gamesense then people with 10-20x their hours played.

    It's also going to suck those like myself who uses a CronusMax to play local multiplayer-only games online with friends via Parsec and a capture card. (You can direct virtual controller inputs on a PC into the CronusMax, which is seen on the Xbox as a controller.)
    There's legitimate uses for these devices. I think a full ban of them at the console level is going too far. I think it should be done at the game level, blocked in multiplayer games, but leave it alone for local play.

    • @yewtewbstew547
      @yewtewbstew547 10 месяцев назад +3

      Yeah some games definitely be that way. With Halo MCC on PC I always play crossplay in non input-based matchmaking with a controller myself, and I swear keyboard and mouse users are outnumbered by controller players 100 to 1, the aim assist is just that strong.
      tbh I don't mind it exactly, the controller aim assist is completely consistent with how those Halo games always played on console. But it does basically render keyboard and mouse a disadvantage. I'm sure some people can play very well with keyboard and mouse, and maybe the skill ceiling is higher too. But the "skill floor" to actually become good with keyboard and mouse is much higher than with a controller, so most people just play controller.

Controller usage also cramps my hand after extended use so not being forced into one helps. I don't use recoil scripts and do not condone the use of them as that's already over the grey line. Frankly there are plenty of controller users who cheat with modded controllers and scripting devices like cronus. If you are making 100% of the inputs a game is receiving I don't care what input source someone is using. Basically AI will fun a full scan of your screen when playing the game, scan your inputs, reflexes, etc and determine if its legit or not. Anti cheat like this would instantly kill off blatant cheaters as it would insta ban them in seconds without fail, the problem is the cheats that emulate humans. This is where AI comes in clutch, because it will effectively force cheats to emulate humans perfectly, and at that point a cheater would be no different than just a really good player, sure an advantage, but one that can be overcome.
