    Omg, thank you SO much for this video Jasmine. I also live in Australia and am currently in my undergraduate Criminology degree - after graduating I’m thinking of doing a Masters in Social Work. This video really helped me. I think my Criminology degree and a Social Work course would pair well together and I would really like to help vulnerable people (especially children/women). Thanks again

    At my uni in Kentucky, USA, to get a bachelors in social work, you had to do 30 hours for freshmen practicum in a social work field, then 130 hours for junior practicum, then 400 hours for senior practicum under a social worker. Of course, here, you have to have a masters degree to be licensed so I'm not sure what additional hours is required for that.

    Hello Jasmine, thank you for your video. I really like your last point. I am currently applying for a master degree in social work and I previously worked as a volunteer on an online emotional platform. I truly feel how important this is to pour your emotions and your past aside in order to help other people out there. I really wish that I can be a registered social worker, with better knowledge, I hope to heal others and myself. Wish me luck xoxo

    So I was a foster child and I want to help the kids that didn't get it as easy as I did. I was adopted almost off the bat to a nice Christian family, but I have kept in contact with my foster parents --now I call them Grandma and Grandpa and see them regularly. I know there is a lot of injustice if you could call it that when it comes to foster parents and adopting. I know that some do it for the money and often hurt the child. I have talked with my grandma about it and she says it requires extreme emotional control and 'guarding' yourself. I was wondering how to work with foster children and what courses you need to get a degree. My main goal is to help other children and teens in the foster system. How could I start preparing now? (I am in highschool)

    • @JasmineAmaa
      @JasmineAmaa  4 года назад

      Christy Collins thats awesome that u want to give back. There are several short Call Sis run for foster parents so you know if you went into like a child protection center and spoke to them about wanting to witness some of these courses and see what they have to offer and that kind of thing I’m sure they would be willing to have you and the other option is you can also just try and do volunteering with any kind of child protection services or any foster care services or even if you could observe. Observing contact Work would be great because contacts workers usually facilitate contact between the children and their biological parents or anyone else if if that something that has been agreed-upon . Xx

    Social work is good and worth while profession but the problem of abuse and misuse of power within the profession needs to be seriously addressed there great deal of silence on the damage to the professionals who are committed, hard working social worker. These issue of discrimination, oppression should have no place in the profession, which creating an unhealthy environment to work in.

    Hi, I'm working as a social worker in Turkey. Unfortunately, the hardest part of my job is to write reports constantly. I have to write reports of 10 pages a day and I don't like it. I would definitely like to work as a counsellor and communicate more with people. How is the situation in Australia? Do you write reports all the time or do you usually spend your days with counseling and direction?
