Maria V. Hi there! It all depends on the agency, degree, and state where you work! My best advice would be to google your specific state and “forensic social worker” or look in job boards for your local area! :)
I love all the representation social workers are getting on RUclips! As a social worker, it’s also great to see how diverse this field is and to get some inspiration from others in this community. Definitely subscribed!
God sent his only son to be "The savior of the world n also to serve humanity by taking away sins n lessening the burden of earth life..." May God bless all the social workers n people who serve the orphan, downtrodden, sick, destitutes, afflicted n the needy.... Amen!!
I am in love with your personality and these videos of your work life! I’m currently in school for human services / social work and sometimes find it hard to keep the motivation.. these videos really help me see that there’s a light at the end of all these research papers! Maybe you can do some videos about the schooling and how you kept organized, studying tips, etc. !! Keep doing what you’re doing Annie, can’t wait to see new videos!
I’m so glad to help! I remember my last year of undergrad and basically all of graduate school I found myself losing motivation, so I am really honored to hear that I am giving some back! Thank you so much for your kind words. I will certainly try those videos!
I am interested in becoming a social worker and I am currently pursuing my associates in social work at a community college so I thought that your video was really cool. Please do more videos if you haven't already done so because they are really helpful and incredibly enlightening. I really liked your video!
Thanks for making a video like this. I’m a grad students currently and am just trying to figure out where I️ want to work. Forensic social work is something I’d love to get into.
I have a master's degree in psychology. I've worked as a Psychology Associate still on the roster we also did forensic Psychology. Same thing. My favorite was the evaluations at the correctional facility. Now I'm a case manager. My day is about the same.
I'm interning within the prison system right now as a social worker!! Cool to see it from the other side -- reintegration services are SO important. Recidivism is way too high.
I am on a think tank for forensics mental health as a catalyst group formulating a new recovery model for forensic population. #TheRecoveryProject I foresee more agency in the future. If the current system is a reinforcement learning style setting goals and targets for reintegration from experts, review boards, courts etc then I see inverse reinforcement learning (IRL) one from patients or 'clients' learning to set goals and personal holistic 'values' themselves and each other with lived experience as part of a new recovery model framework. I hope to see more social workers and in particular more 'patients or clients' posting the same to help support those reintegrating into society. The culture of safety is melding with the culture of risk and will be dynamic and more inclusive with direct input from the people who come out. Good luck with everything. #PhilosophyOfTimeTravel has more or my personal thoughts on this and other areas. Best regards.
Tell me how I can get into this exciting field. I am currently pursuing my MSW in social work and didn't know what areas were available besides case work but I would like to know more about forensic social work. I am not sure if they have that field here in Canada
LOVE finding another social worker on RUclips!! Your video was super interesting, loved learning about a different but similar area in the field (I'm a therapist)
Do you think an RN would be qualified to do this? If not, what would he/she have to do to have a job like this? Also, do you know any nurses that went back to school to get their MSW?
🙋🏽♀️ I am a Social Worker, and have just launched my RUclips channel, All Things Social Work! I’m really loving building community here! The profession is really soaring! Wow cool population, dual diagnosis....real hard work, but super rewarding! Glad you have such flexibility with your role too...that’s suppppeerr helpful! Looove this video...loved OOTD too!
I really want to work in long term mental health centres as a support worker / social worker. Do you know what schooling is needed? I work for addictions and mental health now as support worker. Butttt I want lean more towards extreme mental health? Anything will help thanks girl you randomly came on to my google page happy you video found me
Hello! Apologies if yoy mentioned this in the video abd i missed it -- what degrees did you get in pursuit of your career? :) Regarding bachelors, masters, etc . . . whatever may be applicable:)
Can you explain kind of where you work or what sector employs you? Ex government building etc? Are you ever afraid for your safety working with people who are leaving jail with mental illness?
Great Video! I am working on my last year of my BSW degree in Social Work. I have been debating on what area I would like my focus to be on. Could you do a video on some of your college courses you took that helped you prepare for working in the mental health spectrum of Social work?
The Brooks case (Wisconsin Parade murderer) hearing (streaming on RUclips), wherein the Judge oddly (in my opinion) concluded he was competent to defend himself, worrisomely suggests (to me, a retired family Dr) that forensic psychiatrists should help protect all defendants rights to justice by promoting better screening of defendants before situations like Mr Brooks' under-informed presumption of competency leads to a discharge of competent council. Please. Thank you.
I loved this video! I'm very interested in forensic social work. I'm a year into my BSW, do you have any tips (or could u make a video on tips) for getting into forensic social work and what a beginner needs to know?? Thanks!!
Hi! I am in the process of finding a program to apply to for my MSW. But I heard you say you were studying for your licensure exam. So does that mean you currently (or currently during the time of this video) have you AMFT? Or which type of licensure are you studying for? Thanks!
Interesting... Most of this is a waste of time. As I bet that without the help, they wouldn't go back to drugs. The "help" just annoys them enough to remind them not to commit crime.
I am going into the field of social work, I love forensics and I didn't know social work could relate to forensics!
Yes!! I’m going to school for this as well
Another SOCIAL WORKER on RUclips!!
You go girl!!! So cool to see more social workers in this RUclips space 😍
Love your videos! So happy you found my channel!

As a male in the field, I definitely agree.

What a horribly pessimistic way to view a career that helps so many.
