Maria V. Hi there! It all depends on the agency, degree, and state where you work! My best advice would be to google your specific state and “forensic social worker” or look in job boards for your local area! :)

I am on a think tank for forensics mental health as a catalyst group formulating a new recovery model for forensic population.
#TheRecoveryProject I foresee more agency in the future. If the current system is a reinforcement learning style setting goals and targets for reintegration from experts, review boards, courts etc then I see inverse reinforcement learning (IRL) one from patients or 'clients' learning to set goals and personal holistic 'values' themselves and each other with lived experience as part of a new recovery model framework.
I hope to see more social workers and in particular more 'patients or clients' posting the same to help support those reintegrating into society. The culture of safety is melding with the culture of risk and will be dynamic and more inclusive with direct input from the people who come out. Good luck with everything. #PhilosophyOfTimeTravel has more or my personal thoughts on this and other areas. Best regards.

The Brooks case (Wisconsin Parade murderer) hearing (streaming on RUclips), wherein the Judge oddly (in my opinion) concluded he was competent to defend himself,
worrisomely suggests (to me, a retired family Dr) that forensic psychiatrists should help protect all defendants rights to justice by promoting better screening of defendants before situations like Mr Brooks' under-informed presumption of competency leads to a discharge of competent council.
    Please. Thank you.
