This is great advice. I've been in the field for 3 years already. My internship and first job was in domestic violence and I loved it! I left the job because I wanted to test out working with other populations. Now I am working with mental health and substance use. It's going well, but I still feel like there is better things out there. When i left my first job I was a nervous wreck and my confidence was so low. I've been in this new position for 7 months now. This experience makes me want to reach other to other positions and see what I'm capable of.
Through my associate’s internships and now my internship program for my bachelor’s program I have been selecting sites with populations that are completely different. I’m glad that I haven’t been making a mistake here by broadening my exposure versus focusing my skills. I also feel like I haven’t found my exact area. I would really like to work in a school or upper education university setting that supports students.
I am a recent MSW graduate and have been applying to schools to work as a school social worker. Your videos have been so helpful! You have great energy and presence! I can't wait to interview and use the tips you have recommended! I definitely lacked confidence as an intern and case manager at my last job as a BSW but it's all about TAKING ACTION!
Thank you so much for this video!! I'm starting my first social work job next week and I'm so nervous but this video gave me the push I needed. It also helped me know I'm doing the right thing by working with a population I've never really worked with before! Thank you for being the happy social worker we need in our lives!
I’m in a msw program after graduating with my bsw. I have had two internships in my undergrad and won’t have another till next school year. I am honestly terrified to go into the work field. I am working at my college summer job currently at a daycare. Idk why I feel like this and I’m nervous I am wasting my time even though I love SW so much. Gives me anxiety every time I think about my future
Super excited to get more into the Social Worker Field! Thank You for all your useful tips and tricks. Have you gone into detail on internships for future social workers?? I am looking into becoming a school social worker!
Thank you so much for this video, I have been struggling since I graduated in 2008. I recently got my LMSW license in 2021 and finding it hard to find employment due to lack of experience 😫. I will Definetely branch out to other areas
I had my first interview as a school social worker. Didn't go well because I lack experience with children and got really nervous. Very disappointed. I just watched your videos and wish I found you earlier than today
Hi, I am wondering about the size of your district? I'm in Washington state and two thirds of our districts are small and don't have funding to support a district social worker. 2nd question... Do you see similarities between your McKinney-Vento liaison duties and SW duties?
Hi Lauren could you do a video guiding us or giving advice to find a mentor? Or what you mean by mentor. I’ve emailed ppl that have came to speak in some of my classes because they say to reach out if you’re curious, but they never reply to my emails ):
Dying of imposter syndrome with my BSW and can’t make enough to save to get back for my MSW… I have not found my population all of my placements and jobs have been… disappointing… I feel so stuck

I love this video! Any trainings or learning materials you would recommend us to get while we work as a fresh green school social worker?

Hi I really love your videos . Do you do any paid zoom consultation. Please let me know I want a mentor like you.

I wrote that before even getting to the last one and THAT is the one I just described in the struggle exactly lol
Good topic madam
What is your ideal population...have you found it yet?
I love working with Older Adults, I believe they have so much to contribute to society

Military, but I couldn’t find any internships for this field. My first internship was foster care and I’m in my final one which is hospice.
