Mel Bonis is quite a nice discovery for me! I find her work elegant but unpretentious.
I agree 🙂🎹🎵👍

@@miraak8523 I would say some of Scarlatti’s sonatas overstay their welcome. Some of the technical fireworks in Liszt’s pieces are quite over the top. Some of Alkan’s pieces are pretentious, but they kinda know they are (Le Preux, Scherzo Focoso, some parts of Le Festin d’Esope), so there’s humor in that. There are plenty of contemporary piano works that are very pretentious.
EDIT: I also think many of Chopin’s works - especially those that start in minor key - can be summed as “Beautiful verse, beautiful chorus, obligatory middle section in opposing key & transitions using VII chords, beautiful chorus, beautiful verse, beautiful chorus”. The repetition/rephrasing of the beautiful parts can feel quite pretentious to me, especially when contrasted with a lackluster, seemingly obligatory middle section.
@@miraak8523 I don’t think anyone (except for Alkan, as I mentioned) writes a piece to be intentionally pretentious. Pretentious people are rarely aware that they are pretentious. And yes, pretentious performances are absolutely a thing. However, I think I did a pretty solid job describing aspects of compositions that I would personally find pretentious. You asked, I answered; take it or leave it.
He explorado toda mi vida la música clasica y sus derivados. Mel bonis es de las pocas mujeres que conozco y he de decir que tiene obras muy únicas, jamás cansan ni someten a bruma.
As time goes on Mel's star will continue to rise. Music like this only comes from a master.
thank you so much for your work
My ears are blessed when I hear this
Wow so good, such an underrated composer!
2) Gai printemps (opus 11)
3) Eglogue (opus 12)
4) Aux champs (opus 13)
5) Menuet (opus 14)
und weiters:
Papillons (Op 28)
Romance sans paroles (Op 29)
(das entspricht auch den Informationen auf ISMLP)
Well, excellent playing, from an excellent composer, and very nice examples of her work. Thank you for showing this to me. :)
and I'm back for more!
Melodious, undemanding on the ear, and well constructed. This is is lovely music for both amateur and professional pianists to enjoy, myself being in the latter category. I have built up a large collection for free by using my second i pad to photograph all the wonderful, rarely heard piano gems. So grateful.
Bravo ! Parabéns pela belíssima execução ! Perfeita ! Muita delicadeza, fraseados perfeitos e muita musicalidade ! Um abraço do Brasil
Музыка света и радости!
Спасибо!
These are so bright and exponentially unique, I feel like these are great for advanced sight reading practice. Truly awesome!
yep, great practice rounds
The first piece sounds so much like the theme from UP, its hard not to believe there isn't some reference to it
You should hear Satie’s “je te veux”
Beautiful pieces and beautifully played. Thank you!

First couple of meadures brought Satie to mind. Lovely, orher worldly feeling piece
These are lovely compositions. I've never heard them before.
Quite sophisticated music. Compositions are tight, well balanced and interesting.
You can feel her sadness in this piece 😥

Lovely playing
C'est tres Francais et charmant. Hints of Chabrier and anticipatory of Satie and Debussy. ❤
Super joli!
Utterly charming

super beau
I did not know about Mel Bonis until this day. Interesting though that before looking up in Wiki, I had a feeling that this had been composed by a woman...
You played these?? If so, then awesome attention to detail! Lovely execution and use of the articulations :)
Thank you. Yes, I played it...
I try to play Mel Bonis today🙂🎹🎵

¡¡¡Hermosas!!!
I think a little more emphasis could’ve been put on the second eighth note in the first motif so it doesn’t sound like 6/8 time and more like 3/4. It sounds like the first eighth is getting more emphasis, making it sound like beat 2/2 rather than the and of beat 2/3
good idea!
Sounds like a sad version of the theme from Up.
Wonderful💛😍 I enjoy it all the way. Subbed to you. Warm greetings to you.
Hermoso!!!

Now I see that he main theme of Disneys "Up" is just a ridiculous example of plagiarism.
To a greater or lesser extent that's gonna be true for much film music which isn't to knock it as there's a high level of craft/ dramatic skill involved .
So maybe she inspired by Chopin right?!
Debussy.
Definitely more Chopin.. Too melody driven to be Debussy.
The third momento oh so white
