- Here's my interpretation of this rather well-known piece. First published in 1898.
Merikanto (1868-1924) was a Finnish composer, music critic, pianist, and organist.
As a composer, Merikanto was primarily a miniaturist, and his extensive œuvre includes songs and piano pieces (he wrote over 100 of each).
He studied for some time at the Leipzig Conservatory in Germany, where his teachers were Carl Reinecke, Theodor Coccius, Robert Papperitz, Willy Rechenberg and Gustav Schreck.
He was notable for his variety of talents - he gave concerts all around Finland, performing on the piano and organ, conducting orchestras, and composing original music. Some of his most beloved compositions are Där björkarna susa, the waltz Kesäilta (Summer Evening Waltz) and the Valse lente, Op. 33. Видеоклипы
This is such a beautiful piece, from a Finnish composer, Merikanto. I've played this song, and it gives me peaceful and romantic feelings
Piece*
Simple, sincere, unpretentious and beautiful.
Превосходный вальс. Четкая форма, мелодия, окончание...и ессесно исполнение! Блестяще! Браво!
This is possibly the most popular (that is: the most played) piece in Finnish classical music.
This piece became so popular that since it was first published in 1898 they took over 100 prints in Finland just during the first 50 years.
No Sibelius piece ever came this close.
wow I didn't know the scope of it
As a Finn I always love hearing this piece
You folks have lots of beautiful music! 👍
I also very much like your profile picture, by the way.
'Pianist' magazine published this in the scores section of their magazine and it was such a big hit that people wrote in commenting about it, asking for more Merikanto.
They mix up a few rarer selections with popular ones and this one proved to be unusually popular!
Magnifico! I missed your videos Gamma. Thanks!
Beautiful!
Una dulce joyita, gracias

I don’t recall where, but I found it free online. Google search.
Can anyone send this pdf please ?

what is p.a.p meaning ??!!!
Poco a poco maybe?
@@bjornholderbeke3110 why with p.a.p !!!the rest is complete except this one. so weird
I thought the a might stand for accelerando in some way but it didn't take it too seriously because the rubato is written very explicitly throughout the piece anyway
Я хочу танцювати!
Very poignant 🥲
