Hey guys, I had a thought about your paw tracks in your floors. I think you should fill them with black epoxy resin and embrace the uniqueness of it. Love your channel!
The living room turned out lovely! Bathroom is coming along nicely Rob, and ya “can’t always get what you want, but if you try sometimes, ya just might find, YA GET WHAT YA NEED!” 🙌🏻❤️😂 Clare I can’t believe how full and beautiful your garden looks! I hope that you didn’t lose too many of your potatoes. Love you guys! 😊💚
For the shower mixer you need a “Concealed Shower Backplate” you then screw the connections you have into it and adjust them to where you want and the mixer can attach to that
Rob Suggestion for the shower, cement board with glued on hygiene sheets they come in 8x4. Quick and easy diy friendly plus they can be cut to size. They are mainly white in colour. Fully water proof. Cheers
My recommendation is not to use flexipipes for the shower in the second shower-room . Try to frame with galvanised box for that end wall. I use polypropylene welded tubes which is think is a better more reliable system. Nothing wrong with the staggered/ stepped connectors for the shower as they allow a certain amount of adjustment. The standard for shower connectors is 152mm. you may be able to get a manifold which is for this purpose. Hope this helps.
I feel your pain with the plumbing, it’s my nightmare too and for some reason it’s the one job that freaks me out and I procrastinate most over. On a positive note lots of great fresh veg and fruit and the glass in the floor looks great. The Stones 😁 big fans in our house at my daughters recent wedding Start me Up was her and her new husbands first dance🎉
My question to you both, why would you attach the toilet and sink when you haven't finished the walls. Now you will have a harder time finishing the walls by the toilet, etc.
Yes you have a point. So we are just about to send off our grant application, which means we will be due an inspection soon. We want to show that we are using all items which we have receipts for in the application. So this is the reason for showing that the sink and toilet are working and connected to the wall, I will return when decorating and finish them properly 😊
Oh Rob, just saw a future project for you. In the area that's going to be your front garden, the old stone cabin. There are all those nice flat stones. They would make a beautiful surround and waterfall for a pond in that area.
Loving the garden tours... Poly is looking lush. Where did you source your Loganberries? Enjoyed your potato tour, does it ever get old rummaging through the soil pulling up the nutritious nuggets. We got all of our seed tatties from fruit hill farm, our 1st earlies were a purple variety Vitanoire - have enjoyed them so much, going to try and save some seed for next year from them.
Thanks folks, would you believe a lady was getting her alotment in east cork taken away and said anyone with a shovel can take whatever you want. This was a few weeks before we moved and it seemed like a daft idea, but now we are very grateful. Quickcrop, Future Forests (well worth a day out as its local) and Clarenbridge give us all we need and think they all have loganberries. We were overwhelmed we we got all the spuds but again, delighted now, tis great digging for treasure! Havent tried them, been meaning to, but we barely make it out of our driveway let alone anywhere else. Mostly online, Will keep an eye out for the vitanoire, its amazing to bring out the purple spuds. You should do some harvest / cooking vids yourself!
I don,t know for sure, but I think you have to get green drywall/plasterboard where there is going to be water (bathrooms) your nis very entertaining, thank you
I'm back home in Ballingarry Limerick and the Boss (wife lol!) fancies a road trip to Cobh. Would you guys entertain a pair of visitors stopping in for half an hour in the next week or so when we make the trip? No bother at all whatsoeverp if you're tied up, but I thought I'd ask as we will be in your neck of the woods and it would be lovely to shake your hands and say Thanks personally for the ongoing inspiration lol! Another great video. Thank you.
No problem, drop us a line on Instagram, however we are many hours from Cobh ;) Robs parents are there tho, we may be down that way for a family gathering this weekend or next tho
If it is blight on the potatoes, dig them up as soon as possible, they can be decimated in 24 hours. The ones you harvested look great, nothing like eating your home grown potatoes.
Are the Schluter shower systems not available in Ireland? I used it in our last BR renovation here in the states, yes it's more $$ upfront but the reduced labor is worth it.
I couldnt tell you to be honest, finishes were our least well planned part of the build. I was so concerned with the structural integrity, I didnt give must thought to finish unfortunately.
Thanks again for the entertaining video! What I'd like to know: when will be THE day of the inspectation and what must have been finished for the grant? Will it be more about the function of all the house units or plus nice looking?
We are lead to believe that it is more to do with functionality however because we will be submitting receipts for everything, we feel it is necessary to show that these items have been used. As soon as we submit all of the receipts we will be due an exception, do we are keen to do this now as we believe there may be a couple of months wait 😊
Have you not used your used egg shells cooked them in the microwave for 2 mins hand crushed them and used them around all of your veggies that way the slugs won’t go over the sharp egg shells
Am i the only one that would have had the walls ceiling floor all done in the bathroom before installing the sink and toilet??? And corner shower is was to small. Should be that whole side of the bathroom.
Just needed to do the floor for fitment. The walls will be painted and only the shower will be painted. Standard size enclosures are 80cm here, but they both have 90cm which is generous in reality, it may look smaller on cameta
Hi, why bother screwing the toilets to the floor ? I've assembled several and always stick them down with a LOT of silicone to the floor (precisely because I want to avoid holes/cracks in the ceramic floors). Try it, it will hold just as well as with screws.
Rolling stones - Can't always get what you want, and Startrek 😅
👍👍 double win 😊

Yes, what a great idea! Not sure how to go about this, may have to research, thankyou 🙂
If the old outdoor tap still works, would be a great spot for Rooney's water bowl.
Haha it would but alas no, it's not connected!
@@WestCorkWanderprobably for the best in case it sprung a leak! Keep up the Fabulous work, house is looking Amazing!

Exactly, 😂 thanks it's coming along nicely!
Living the dream
Thanks!
I confess to having a touch of plumbing envy. And ‘I have two holes’ will make a great edit. 🤣🙌
Oh gosh the whole plumbing event is a massive learning curve 🙄🤣
For the shower mixer you need a “Concealed Shower Backplate” you then screw the connections you have into it and adjust them to where you want and the mixer can attach to that
Wish I knew that sooner 😂😂
I suggest that you lime plaster the wall with the pink on it will look soo much better
Were on the fence with that. Lime wash or lime render... 50/50
Rob

Good point, has used in the past but have tiles bought already!
I can't get no, satisfaction. The Rolling Stones.
💯
Glass bottles look great, worth adding a couple of ammonite fossils into the appropriate surface.
Interesting 😊

Suffered a flood disaster when one of those as covered pipes burst. Plumber said lifespan of approx 3 years. China made, nuf said.
Wow, 😳😲 gotta check that out!

Oh wow! Great stuff. Yes plumbing is a difficult one 😊

DIY plumbers are so brave. Things often need redoing and it hurts.
The only “qualified” plumbers I came across in 40 years of building were foreigners mostly Eastern Europeans
To be honest we are just adding to the existing plumbing, but did think it would be so fiddly😊
I don,t know for sure, but I think you have to get green drywall/plasterboard where there is going to be water (bathrooms) your nis very entertaining, thank you
You do, we use a cement board here which is similar
Purple spuds , ooooooooh
Have you tried them, they are very good 😊

💯 it's great to eat your own! Wer not 100 sure on the blight tho
Those shower pans look so so small?!?😮
Was thinking the same thing! So so small!
Toilets have shrunk over the years this is where size matters😂
Standard size enclosures in Ireland is 80cm ours are 90. Should be fine for 2 teenagers
Dr Phil!! Haha.
💯 haha

Exactly 💯😂
How not to renovate an old Irish homestead.... This show is comedy gold😂
It certainly feel like that! 😂
Could shower go back to back. No idea if that’s poss. Sorry you both have so much work on. But potatoes look good. 😊😊
Ahh I see what you mean. Not really possibly as one bedroom is at one end and on at the other. I guess we could have designed them to be 😊
But if you try sometime 😀
💯
So are both of your children’s bedrooms and bathrooms all 100% completed before they get back home ?
Our daughters will be, but we do a little of our sons when he goes to his friend's place. Our daughter is in the spare room
Have you not used your used egg shells cooked them in the microwave for 2 mins hand crushed them and used them around all of your veggies that way the slugs won’t go over the sharp egg shells
Yip we build the up and do that weekly 👌

That doesn’t look like blight to me. Blight would have blocks of black on the stems
As it is progressing they are getting black stems 🙄

Ooh I did think you had to screw them down, I will ask Rob about this, thanks
