They weren’t supposed to tour, but that wound up happening and Rex went along for the ride. After Down was done and Phil did Superjoint and started shit talking Dime and Vince Rex was nowhere to be found. He basically bailed on them too. Did you ever read Rex’s book and see all the shit he talked about Vinnie in it? Then he got called out on it and blamed the person who wrote the book for him. Maybe he didn’t want that info in the book but it sure was how he felt. Now he says that the current Pantera line up isn’t a tribute and they intend to keep this thing going possibly even making new music.
There might be others that are technically superior… but dime had intangibles in addition to his writing. He wrote mostly in major/minor scale and pentatonic and still so damn creative… played extremely well, so cleanly even super fkn wasted in sure .. but more over he had soul … from the squeals.. do his spirit on stage to the music he wrote .. the package is what made him the one of the best if not thee best metal guitarists ever!

Dime was one of his kind. His particular style of playing guitar hasn't been overcome by some current professional guitar players. And even though Zakk is doing his best to emulate him during the Pantera world tour that's taking place at the moment, he will never be able to do it as well as Dime used to.
