a friend in Adelaide knew people who fostered a wombat...eventually released to the wild in the bush around their property...huge now, he comes back now and again and bashes through the screen door, lumbers down the hall and dives onto the bed(nocturnal creatures) all smelly and damp usually...but loved regardless
I know 2 families from SA that had a wombat probably let them go by now
which state allows for wombat as pets?
That's funny! Though I imagine it gets a bit annoying having to replace the screen, lol! Maybe they should give him a dog door or something.
Love this story.
Wombat love. What a great compliment to the people who loved him and helped him, that he feels safe to show back up and visit his wombat human foster parents.
What a little cutie. She may be small, but she has a big personality. So glad that she was rescued.
Australia has the Cutest animals!!
agreed ! wombats and kangaroos and Koalas 😍 sooo adorable
But also some of the most deadliest...whether it comes down to snakes or spiders
@Shaq Kobe is there red panda in ozzie?
Don't forget the quokkas
yes to compensate for all the rest of the deadly one there..
So precious. She's like a little bear! What an absolute priviledge it would be to look after her. I would love to work with animals, especially wild animals.
It’s like a cross between a bear and a guinea pig
It's like a Cross between koala and a capivara maybe
MANBEARPIG jk
These animals are so important for the ecosystem. May God bless these people who saved and rehabilitate them back into the wild.
Hyper active little wombat love to run around 😄 She will have a great journey outside soon 🤗
Like most baby things, too cute and too full of energy.
I don’t know why, but that little buddy is just way cool. I would love to have one running around. People may recall a movie starring a Russell Crowe called “ Captain And Commander - Far Side Of The World”. He was the captain of an 1800’s British sailing ship. The book was written as part of a series featuring the captain in each book. In a couple of the books the ships doctor brought one of these creatures on board and although the crew loved it, the little bugger was constantly chewing the captains uniform and anything else it could get. It was hilarious.
This is the most fantastic creature I have seen!! Ever!!
christina schiza Koala bears are pretty cute too!
No ones talking about what a beautiful lawn they’ve got.
She is the cutest little thing!
Bless Sue 🙏🏼 and all the wonderful people who take care of animals. I give my cat the best home and TLC and love to see people doing the same with wild animals while they get them properly prepared for release💜
I want to move to Australia to care for them like this lady.
Wombat stole my heart 😘❤️
Very cute. It's videos like this that make me appreciate the most caring animal on the planet--humans! OK we can also be the cruelest at times, but I prefer to focus on the positive.
oh that wombat is really, really adorable...
Our world is blessed by this precious baby 💖💖💖
Oh how sweet. So cute. Looks like a little baby bears face. Large ears. And adorable but very mischievous. That's a awesome cage. Thanks for sharing. 🤗👍
Kis drága, nagyon aranyos ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Omg beyond adorable .. it's looks like a miniature bear
Sweetie Pie. I know I can't have a wombat but that does not stop me from wanting one, as I already thought of its name.
Cute little bugger! She's funny! I can see a bit of resemblance between them and koalas.☺
@Al Pal ahhh! Well, now I get it! Put fluffy ears on a wombat and we'd be all set! Some people think they look like giant hamsters. I definitely do NOT think there is anythink rodent-y about them! Wombats are cute! Rodents are creepy!
@Al Pal So is the wombat pouch like the koala pouch, then? What I want to know is, how come Australia got all the cute critters? That's not fair!☺
ecclestonsangel The opening of the wombat pouch faces between the back legs, so when mama is digging she doesn't flick dirt into the pouch and onto baby. Nature takes everyrhing into account, doesn't she?
“Her long shovel-like claws are perfect for ruining hardwood floors”
Such a silly little wombat 💜
Какие они хорошие
she already seems used to being in a captive environment, hopefully she survives well in the wild
As they note in the video, they're basically treating the baby as the mother would. First they stay in the "den" for a while, then gradually introduce the wombat to the outside world.
There's nothing "captive" about this environment that is different from the environment it would have grown up in, except that mom is a human, and the "den" is a house.
I don't see how having seen the inside of a house is going to significantly affect the wombat's life.

That was so cute.
So cute😚
ow my ... how cute 😍😍😍😍😍
Beautiful and amazing
Love her. Thank you for everything you do.
how do one get a job of looking after baby animals?
Juice Jakerabbit easiest job ever
I couldn't help wondering the same thing. BUt I live in a small NYC apartment. Oh well. Adorable. She keeps her mum busy!
Volunteering is a good start. There's always young kittens that need looking after since they are the most likely to be euthanized due to there not being enough foster homes.
In Australia, WIRES is the main volunteer wildlife rescue organisation that you can join with a 2 day course.
@@valenesco45 it's really not haha, babies have to be bottle fed every few hours even through the night so you'd be giving up at least an entire month of continuous sleep XD
Looool it’s so cute I’ve never seen one of these things before
Oh my, so cute
He is so cute ^_^
For some reason, I read "Orphan Wombat" as "Oprah Winfrey" and I was so confused.
David Boucard
LOL 😂!!!!!
David Boucard Ha ha ha! Funny. I read, "Oprah Wombat", and I had to blink and squint.
😂
😂😂😩😭
That's because Oprah looks like a Wombat
"bulldozing things ... Is great"... ;)
Please God let all these beautiful animals find safety away from these fires. Everything that lives must be protected ^j^
Adorable 😍😍
Their tablemanners are hilarious!
I'm a bit worried about this fostering because wombats are nocturnal and get picked off by predators during the day. I think the foster mum should be encouraging the little wombat to sleep during the day hours and be active during the night, and definitely bringing her outside during daylight hours????
Beautiful protect little animal 💚
Trop choux trop mignon
loving wombat.🙂💛
God it's so cute!
Happy World Wombat Day!
I ❤️ wombats.
ITS SO CUUUUTTTEEE!!! ITS SOOO FATTTTTT!!!!! SQUEEEEEEEE I WANT ITTTT
Too cute!
Marsupials like Wombats and monotremes like Platypuses are both unique to a tiny region of the earth - entire beefy branches of life that we could have just as easily lost... It's hard to imagine how huge of a deal that is, and what other branches of life could have been, or will be in the future, provided we don't kill the planet =p
Cute little bugger!
the baby so funny and cute
Awwwe
I've never even seen a toy wombat where I live, let alone a real one. :D We don't even have marsupials in the zoo.
Toy Wombats are only sold in Australia it seems.
So cute 😍❣️🐨
Wow!! I never seen that animal before
Lindo, pena que não podemos cuidar aqui no Brasil.🥰
So cute. My rabbit acts like that sometimes. Just like a clockwork toy. Let it go and zoom !
Def cute but I love their eyes. And the blonde handler.
If I was ever tasked with describing a wombat in as few words as possible to someone who had never seen one before, I would probably say that one's first impression is a marsupial version of woodchuck or marmot. I'm aware of the numerous biological, behavioral, and psychological differences.
Reminds me of a beaver but without the dams
0:29 little hurricane, 1:11 the return of the little hurricane
I miss how rambunctious and hyper my dog was as a "baby"...trying to run away from her with enough time to hide behind a door seeing if she can sniff me out.
Wont need to turn the traction control on for the grass, things got super slippery on the boards
Oh he's adorable. I'll take a family of those living in the front yard. I've always wanted a hedgehog. Just saying.
Omg its so cute
Adorable petit diable.🍀🍀🍀💕💖🌞😈
Wombats rulezzzzzz!!!
Well, one of my missions in life is to pet a wombat.
I love wombats!!! I would love to play with one!!!
Please, tame her and keep her as a pet. She may not be able to adjust in the wild. Your wooden floor reminds me of our pet pig that was raised inside the house. When we took her out to walk on the dirt, she was sneezing and stumbling. We had to take her back inside and did not let her out until she was one.
She will be fine and its against the law to keep our wildife as pets. These animals are not domesticated and belong in the bush, it's in their genes :)
It so naturally plays with toys like it’s a dog but there are no toys in the wild. Perplexing
まんまるで可愛いなぁ😍💕
Два вомбата и мышь.

Raising a wombat = raising 3 5 year old human babies.

Question can I get a wombat as a pet?
Wombazo
Interesting series of videos. But I can't help cringing at how much human contact all these animals are experiencing. I'm currently volunteering in France at a wildlife rescue centre and am the person responsible for bottle feeding baby mammals, and we are very strict about trying to minimise how much we handle the animals as much as possible so that they don't get used to human contact. As in these videos we have one person who looks after the animal - always the same so that the animal can have an emotional connection without getting used to people in general, but we also are very strict about minimising talking and definitely NOT STROKING THEM!! Especially as often stroking is anthropomorphic and it could potentially stress the animal more than reassure it. So I have to admit when I see the presenter talking to and stroking the animals it doesn't sit quite right with me - yeah it's cute but if the goal is to release them into the wild surely they need to understand that humans are a potential threat. But of course different places have different ways of doing things so I just thought I'd share my personal experience. (Also I'm kinda surprised they're not wearing latex gloves or something similar - for their own health as much as the animals).
In Australia, they do "soft" release. Apparently, it is safer for the wombats. In the wild, they know to freeze when humans come around. Basically, they are really stubborn, so unless they want to be around you, they won't just approach strangers.
Jessie Prentice Orphaned babies are mostly traumatized babies who benefit from physical contact. Loved and emotionally balanced animals make better parents. Contact is lessened the older and closer to release they get
There people that have wombat soup in sa
