Thank you. I tried playing through kh1 final mix but it was so difficult and confusing because of the lack of the navigation system. No idea how I got through it when I was younger but oh well.
I'm wondering the same actually, been so confused when I tried to play through it again most of the time as no one would ever tell you where the heck your next destination would be and what you are supposed to do. I don't know how I actually did it as a kid.

I have played all of the kh games and am trying to put together a playlist to explain the story to some friends and man, the whiplash I get from the complex story to "and this is where beast from beauty and the beast gives sora motivational words" never gets old. I love this series so much the early entries are so wild

Kingdom hearts 1 is such a nice and fun game. The controls have a nice simplistic and charming touch, and there are so many cool mini puzzles and collectibles. Also, there are many little Easter eggs, like the cave drawings, the hidden bosses, the subtle nodds to final fantasy, etc. Lastly, the story is really nice and easy to follow (though the story does build up on itself in later games) Overall, it's a very fun time, even if you're just goofing around.
In summary, the game is "simple and clean" in EVERY sense of the phrase. No doubt my favorite game of all time, coming from someone who predominantly plays FIFA 10.

Definitely not just you. I came to this vid for the same reason.
I just bought the all in one and having a blast. But I have noticed, the 1st and chain of memories so far start off really slow and clunky, but when they get going, Holy hell are they fun. If you are in the same boat, give it some time and the combat will click. Especially with chain of memories, that took a lot of getting used too, but im loving it now.

Yup, I agree. A good tip for beginners. GRIND EARLY. It will help a lot especially once you start getting to later worlds and the difficulty ramps up.

This video was really really really useful! I had never played Kingdom Hearts before, but thanks to quarantine, I took my Ps2 back to life and my uncle (who also had a Ps2) gave me some games, and one of those was “Kingdom Hearts II”. He said that it is his favorite game from the console and gave it to me. And I really like the game, It has some crazy features that really feel like it was made many years later. And then I have been struggling with the history because I never played the first game. So this video really has saved me more than any other. Thank you very much, I’m gonna enjoy my game much more now!

Thanks my friend. I borrowed kingdom hearts three from my buddy. Hadn’t played any of them. So I’m watching a recap video for the first two games and your video is the shortest for game 1.
Trust me, it you only watch recap videos for KH1 and 2. You will still be unbelievably confused for KH3. Because Square Enix is not the smartest company in hindsight, every Kingdom Hearts game is canon to the overarching plot. Meaning all those non-numbered titles like "Chain of Memories" and "Birth By Sleep" all are necessary to understand KH3. In that game you'll see characters and villains all from those other games and the story *assumes* you've seen them already. Kinda like a movie series, skipping to Star Wars 7, 8 and 9 will have you a bit more confused since they assume you know who characters like Luke Skywalker and Yoda are already. Very much recommend you watch Lets Plays or recaps of every game, don't rush to 3 because I guarantee you while it's a bit of a journey, it's very worth it.

You know when I was a kid, during 2002, I genuinely thought Squall was based on Leon S. Kennedy from Resident Evil. Back when I didn't know how companies and copyrights worked lmao. Later I learned there's final fantasies BEFORE 9 and 10 and found out when I was way way younger, I played and lost at FF7 rofl. Funny how life goes.

I tried playing this, got up to Traverse Town part 2, but I just can’t anymore. I like the game, but the combat is too clunky, and they always want you to do some very specific things to get thru the level. I have the 1.5 + 2.5 mix, so imma just go to the next one

I’m playing KH1 fully for the first time. I played as a kid but never got passed Tarzan and Wonderland cus it was so hard. I’m 26 now and BITCH IT IS STILL REALLY HAAAARD. I’m doing this easy mode and I’m stressed. I’m skipping the story cus I just don’t have time for both this difficult ass game and this story. God I love this game. Lmao I just finished KH3 and finished KH2 when I was in high school. I do not remember it being like this.

Kairi was sent back to Destiny islands where she remains for the entirety of KHReCoM (the next game) and a portion of Kh2
Any idea how sora ended up Kairis heart after their island disappeared in the beginning? (Strictly KH1FM lore?)
Not sure if I fully understand the question but if you mean how did Kairi's heart end up within Sora's. It was when Sora went to their secret place to check on her when the storm came and when the Darkness came from the Door To Darkness, she was blasted towards him and as her bodies faded her heart retreated into his for protection. It did that because of the actions someone in a prequel game took. It was just one of the many things that happened to protect her in a time of need.
Also how did Riku become evil was he possesed
I forget one detail, someone help me out. I beat the game, but I beat it when I was like 12. I bought the all in one package after I beat KH 3 to go back and play BBS, Coded, And the entire 2.8. Because those were the only ones I didn’t play (or watch I guess.) but why did Donald and goofy leave Sora for Riku exactly? Seems kinda like a dick move, I’m getting ready for Re:Mind and the story is hella convoluted and I’m trying to get every single detail, as you can see I’m a long way off 😂 oh one more thing, who tf is that Yozora (idk wtf his name is) guy? He’s from another game and also the dude from the toy story world posters and stuff right?

How did Riku go back to normal. I don't feel like playing part one it annoys me
When Sora defeated Ansem Seeker of Darkness, it gave Riku control over his body again. That's how he was able to sacrifice himself to stay with Mickey in the Realm of Darkness
I gave up on the Riku ansem fight.

I tried to play KH1, it's just so bad gameplay wise, the camera sucks, theres so many asinine design choices that it genuinely confuses me
who thought they were okay
the bosses (at least all the ones I fought before dropping it) fucking sucked, insanely, and my party would just die instantly, even if they're not supposed to be strong, they shouldnt get bodied within the first minute or so of every boss fight
